I organized 2 boats in Raiatea for 20 of our friends to experience the drift snorkel in the Coral Garden in Taha'a and we were not disappointed. Our boat driver and snorkel instructor were super friendly, accommodating and exceptionally well experienced. We had gorgeous weather and were able to truly enjoy the crystal clear waters and drift current at the remarkably wonderful location. One of our friends has mobility problems and the instructor was so remarkably kind as to physically assist him in walking and snorkeling so he could enjoy the snorkel experience with the rest of us. I'd do this excursion again in a heartbeat, espcially with

It was a great day. Our guide, Ben, was excellent. Nice boat ride. Lots of fish. We were on the early boat, so we were the first people there.

Arrived early and had channel to ourselves. Felt very safe with our guides. Crystal clear water with lots of different fish and corals.

Absolutely wonderful snorkel. Corals were beautiful and fish were abundant and curious. The ride to our snorkel spot was postcard gorgeous. Roy was very informative and eager to be helpful and answered any questions we had. I highly recommend this trip. Thank you Roy!

Fantastic! Take this opportunity if you can. This is the best snorkeling I have seen in French Polynesia (after many scuba dives and snorkeling excursions on other islands).
Although it was raining in Raiatea, our guide and boat captain took us to the most stunning drift snorkel site I have ever seen in French Polynesia. Beautiful live coral with just so many beautiful fish, clear water, and sunshine. It involved a short (10- minute) walk over sandy coral, so I highly suggest bringing good water shoes. We walked in the water and then floated in the current, navigating around rocks and coral. No need for fins, and it was good to be able to float as well as stand in the sand and watch the fish. Afterwards, fresh local fruit and juice was served.
The boat ride is comfortable and much care is put towards safety. Very knowledgeable guide/captain.

The tour company’s name is not given and the pickup location is different than what was shown on the map. Wasted a lot of time searching and asking for the tour company. I told the tour company but their knowledge of English was poor. Once the tour started it was fine

Hello Glenn
Sorry if it took you a while to find us .I'll correct the meeting point on the map.
But we have a sign with all clients's nameq, and all the other clients found us easily
As for the guides, Gony speaks fluent English and Laurence speaks it vrey well too, even though we aren't English speakers!!!

We loved this excursion. Good communication, left on time, even a bit early. We appreciated a small group (about 10). It is a 40 min beautiful ride to the spot, then a short 5 or 10 minute walk to the start and a beautiful, relaxing and colorful float/drift snorkel down. It is bright colored coral and many fish. A great option in Raiteia

The team at Bora Diving Center were wonderful. My partner and I are new divers and our guide, Manu, made us totally comfortable and had suggestions that have helped improve our skills and comfort level. The dives themselves were great with black tip reef sharks on the first dive and mantas on the second. I will absolutely dive with them again if I have the opportunity to return.

It was fun but our guide did not speak English and we did not speak French. We managed. Definitely need water shoes, not water socks! Should know how to swim.
Response from Host, Dec 2025
Normally I include 2 guides , but 1 of the guides was sick
I thought your guide would be abble to manage with English!!
Sorry again
Best regards and Merry Christmas !

Very gentle current so you have time to view the corals, fish and clams at very close range with very little physical effort

thank you for your comment

Guides were awesome. The current was pretty strong so the sea life goes by quick in the channel but they left us some time to explore the coral heads at a slower pace at the end of the channel. A great time was had by all!
Kandy_B, Oct 2025
The guides were great and very vigilant. If you listen, you will have an easy, breeze drift on the coral. If you do not listen, that is when you get hung up on coral. You need just a basic ability to swim, float. We even saw an octopus! You have to have water shoes, bring them for you will have to buy them at the shop at port.
GregLisa_C, Oct 2025
Be sure and bring water socks so you can navigate the coral. More fis than I have ever seen snorkeling.
Susan_M, Oct 2025
The drift snorkelling was wonderful and the guides were so good at directing you and keeping you safe. It was relatively easy to drift but if you can bring a float noodle as this made it so much easier.
Gony and Julian were terrific guides.

I wasn't quite sure what to expect on this tour but our expectations were absolutely blown away!!! We had a nice cruise over to the island then got to go drift snorkeling through a gorgeous coral garden. We got to see all kinds of different fish & beautiful coral. Our guides spoke French so there was a bit of a language barrier but they were so friendly & knowledgeable. We even got to have some local fruit & juice once we were done snorkeling. I would 100% recommend this tour to anyone visiting Raiatea!

Amazing, knowledge and passionate guide.
He was kind and we felt thoroughly taken care of.
The snorkling is some of the best I have seen.
Terri_C, Aug 2025
It was a great boat ride to the snorkeling spot. Snorkeling was fantastic. We had time to do the float twice. The guides were excellent. Lovely boat ride back to the port.

GET water shoes! You walk over broken coral to get there. The operators “recommend” water shoes. All but two people had them. Those two were not real comfortable and wanted to tell the vendor to “Require” water shoes. Not the vendor’s problem! Water shoes are strongly recommended! Considering them required. You will be happier
David_W, Jun 2025
Fabulous snorkelling! The current wasn’t strong, so we had an easy float through the channel and plenty of time to see the fish and coral. Boat trip was about 35-40 minutes each way from Uturoa (Raiatea). Would recommend it!
Jeffrey_C, May 2025
When we signed up, we didn’t realize that it was a drift snorkel through the coral gardens. If you want a drift snorkel, this is fun and we did enjoy it - just didn’t know that was what we had signed up for. Had a great time and got to do the same drift twice! Make sure you bring good water shoes. We had our own mask & snorkels (we prefer to bring our own as they fit perfectly and pack easily) so can’t comment on the ones they provided. Watch out for the fire coral! They are yellow tipped corals and make sure you do not brush against them, as it will give your skin a burning sensation. Ask your guide to point it out. Of course, do your absolute best not to touch any of the coral as you drift by and take in the amazing views! It is an approximately three hour long tour, but be prepared to have a go a bit longer for planning the rest of your day. Meet the Operator at the activities desk # 12.
David_M, May 2025
This is a great excursion. But need to know that it takes 45 minutes by boat to get to the coral gardens. Padded bench on the boat would be nice. Warning about the fire coral up front would have been helpful for my wife.
Stella_M, Apr 2025
Bring an under underwater camera, Great guide. The fish teamed around us when we tempted them with bananas.
Joyce_G, Apr 2025
We have spent the last 3 days in the French Polynesian, Tahiti, Mooroa and Raiatea. These islands are beautiful and we did some fantastic tours. We were shopping for black Tahitian Pearls, had island tours, and snorkels in an uninhabited island called Taaha. Our favorite was snorkeling. The best snorkeling we have ever seen. The huge variety of fish, the large quantities of fish, stingrays, moray eels and so much more. The coral was beautiful…lots of different types of coral in all beautiful colors. The staff was fun and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this trip.

Wonderful tour. They meet you right on the dock where your cruise ship tenders just look for sign-up sheet with your name. Maximum 20 guest, they take you out a boat to Cove at the water channel. You can float down and view a vast amount of fish, coral and sea life. He actually have to stop and remember to take a look at the tropical splendor of the islands around you and view of Bora Bora from this location.. follow the rules and you should be OK. It is pretty much float. The guides we had made sure we were safe as well as point out, all kinds of things of interest and wildlife. Make sure you have a good pair of beach/ scuba shoes. You don't use flippers and you have to walk along the beach with old lava rock and Coral. They do provide masks and snorkel if you don't have it. Enjoy the water it's spectacular.
Robmaree, Apr 2025
Fantastic 1/2 day tour from our cruise ship. Our tour guides were waiting for us when we got off the tender ( be prepared for an early start) it was then a 45 min boat ride to Taha where the coral garden is located
You do not need swim fins, as it is too shallow and flippers would damage the coral but you do need water shoes as you need to walk over dead coral to get to the water
You then enter the Chanel between to islands and follow your guide, single file through the most amazing coral and fish life. It was honestly like snorkelling in an aquarium, I would do it again in a heartbeat, and would recommend it to anyone who has snorkel before
Absolutely amazing day
Susie_B, Apr 2025
The tour was only 4 people. First time to do a drift snorkel. Saw lots of fish, coral. Guide was very helpful keeping us safe from scraping the coral. I recommend wearing a long sleeve shirt and pants .
Altamira, Mar 2025
This tour is very nice at high tide. However, our AM tour is downgraded due to large numbers of snorkeled trampling the coral. What a catastrophe for the short and long term survivability of the beautiful Tana’s Coral Garden.
