We had an amazing time with Emma and Vikram on the Lilo Tiki Tour. They really made it fun for.me and my teenage daughter. We made new friends as well on the tour and would definately recommend this tour to everyone. The music was great as well. We had lots of laughs. Thanks again.

Awkward and uncomfortable experience

What should have started out as a great experience for my wife and I started out very awkward and frustrating. We booked the Tiki hut online about an hour and a half before departure at 3pm. While we waited at the dock the Tiki hut showed up about ten minutes early and there were only six of us boarding. We were informed that only the foursome would be going on this boat and we would have to wait for the next one. I said to the rude attendant that we were booked on this one. She said NO. Were on the other one. But I said the capacity is 12 people and we are only six right now. She quipped back that we were to take the next one and we would be the only two on the other boat and said it would be here soon. And they just left! As we waited and waited for another boat to come get us it was late. Then I got a phone call from the company telling us to walk over to the other Marina on the other side of the river. I'm thinking what???!! This is a poor business model. I told the operator that we were instructed to be at the Museum of History. Now telling me to walk to other Marina and we are the only two passengers? I have bone spurs in my foot and was not happy to say the least we had to walk way the hell over to another dock. WTF? So, not wanting to lose our 170$ that we already paid we walked over to the other Marina and got picked up and the time is now 3:20pm twenty minutes late. But when we boarded the crew Emma and Vic were really nice (They bought us a drink on the house) we had a great tour and enjoyed ourselves with the staff 5 stars! But the only reason why I am giving this review two stars is that the other crew on the the other boat were unprofessional and not very accommodating. They told us that the reason we had to take the other boat was so that they could give the other crew the "Hours" for their pay. Really?? Why would you tell us about inside work drama? It's too bad that one crew set the other crew up to make it awkward and frustrating to say the least. I'm pretty sure we won't be taking this tour in the future and we are telling friends and family about this unprofessional experience. But Kudos to Capt. Vic and Emma for turning it around.

This was a wonderful way to spend the morning with some long-time friends! The Captain and bartender were very friendly and informative about the sights along the River. The Lilo had comfortable seats and was festively decorated, right down to the last touch. We started with the morning mimosa special and they were delicious! There were lots of other beverage choices as well. The river sights and sounds were lovely and conversation, fun. We wanted to stay all day! This is so unique and a definite must if you're in Ottawa over the summer!

Fairly well stocked bar. Bring your own snacks. Get a spot where you can see the TV to learn a bit about the sights you will see. Crew was very friendly, and fun and had lots of energy. Accessories and musical instruments were provided. Good play list.

Under the weather

Unfortunately we took the cruise on a very windy day, making it impossible to really enjoy any sites. We were only able to cross the river and “park” at the outlet of the locks. We ended the cruise before the allotted time due to conditions. Our host and hostess were terrific and made the best of a bad weather situation.

Deceiving description

Although we found the ride enjoyable and relaxing, the experience was not at all as described. Viator says we can book up to 12 people but it doesn’t say that if you book for less, you may have strangers on your tour. Also, it says that you can plug your music to the bluetooth system, but they charge you a dollar for each song (unless you book for 12 people). The drinks are very very sweet, and we asked a few times for drinks -offered on the menu- that they did not have. The white wine was not refrigerated. That being said, the staff was kind, the ride was smooth and the scenery was beautiful, I just wish they were more honest about the description.

We understand your concerns about sharing the tour with other guests. Much like airlines, it's common in group experiences that additional guests may join if the booking is for fewer than 12 people. We have reviewed the posted information Viator clearly says "Group type: Not private (shared)". We apologize if this was not clear and will work on making sure it is highlighted. Regarding the Bluetooth music system, As mentioned and advertised on the screen for the duration of the tour, we do ask for a $1 charitable donation per song, with all proceeds going to the Local Children’s Hospital. Thanks to generous guests, we've raised thousands of dollars for this cause. If you had been the only party on board, we would have happily waived this and connected your playlist directly. based on your feedback we have updated the description to reflect your concern. As for the drinks, we’re sorry they didn’t meet your expectations. Please know that you’re always welcome to request a replacement at no charge if you're not satisfied. Everyone's pallet to sweetness is different. We'll also work on ensuring all menu items are available, and that drinks like the white wine are properly chilled. Your feedback is invaluable, and we are committed to continually improving our service. We hope you'll consider joining us again for an even better experience!

The Tiki Boat was great, but Viator double charged me and still has not refunded me 3 weeks later…. And are impossible to get ahold of. Book through the company’s website - not Viator. It’s $30 cheaper via tiki boat website
