Amazing cultural birding tour

We had an amazing bird tour; we saw so many birds in a short time period. After the bird tour he brought us to his local village where we saw traditional weaving & chocolate making. We travelled with two teenagers and they also very much enjoyed this tour.

Great Day in Teotilan del Valle

Jose did a great job sharing his enthusiasm for the local natural history and Zapotec culture. We were able to see 50 different species of birds in 3 hours, most of which (46 species ) were at the Piedra Azul site. Although not part of the "official" tour, After birding Jose suggested we have lunch and took us to a local residence where we had a tasty, fun lunch, He then asked if we wanted to tour a local rug weaving business and we had a most interesting, enriching experience learning about rug weaving from a local artisan. Overall, the day's experience was one of our groups most memorable during our trip to Oaxaca. I would highly recommend booking a tour with Jose Mendoza

Great birding guide

Jose is a great guide with in depth knowledge of the plants, animals, and ecology of the region as well as the history and nature of zapoteca community self governance. He speaks fluent English and has a great eye for birds - we saw many species including several endemics. Highly recommended!
