Generally, the trip was good. But we were a little disappointed about the things we saw in the Amazon. Somethings we feel that needs to be improved:
In 3 days, we saw mostly monkeys, turtles, a snake, some sloth, birds and butterflies in captivity. This did not meet our expectations as we were expecting to see wildlife in a natural environment.
Second: most activities were part of a scheme to sell something to us. We had about an hour to kill before the start of the tour and someone at the office offered to take us for a walk around the block. He stopped a taxi and asked us to climb in because he had something to show us. Taxi took us away from where we were supposed to start the tour when we complained. We were taken back to the office told we needed to pay the taxi driver and ask to play the person a tip for the tour. As soon as we paid the taxi and the man they quickly disappeared.
We wonder why we could not see some animals in there natural jungle environment,? Because this location too close to city Iquitos? Or damaged original ecological environment
1. Our lodge was disappointing as it is was not maintained, accommodations were way below par, e.g., towels that looked like rags, stained, etc. Mosquitoes were able to get into our room
2. Village view was nice.
3. Meals were okay to good.
4. Free drinking water was in short supply and we were encouraged to purchase water.
