After making a reservation a month in advance and receiving several confirmation messages to include the actual tickets specifying confirmed 8:30pm time and place at 1810 Gaboto in Montevideo, UY we were dropped off by our driver to a closed and locked dark building on a seedy street at night. We made attempts to reach the theater by phone to find no answer.

??? So you went to Gaboto 1810 and don´t found our restaurante ? Are you sure you went to Gaboto 1810 ?
If this is your first time watching tango or samba, this show is a good introduction, but if you have been to Argentina and Brazil and watched tango and samba, you will be a bit disappointed. Nice and intimate ambiance with 15 tables max. The performance was 90 minutes long with three dance troupes showcasing each type of dance. The tango dances were interspersed with a man and a woman singing, so there were only three tango dance performances. As for the food, hte main dish was OK. My husband and daughter ordered the fish which I thought was better than the steak I ate; it was kind of hard to chew on so I ate only 2/3 of it. The Uruguayan tannaz wine was good and so was the medio medio (mix of white wine and sparkling wine) - drinks were open bar - all you can drink. We also enjoyed the desserts.
What a terrific evening! We expected to see tango dancing, but the show was so much more. This evening was cultural immersion. Food was okay. Local wine was outstanding.
The dancing was really very good and they showed different types of dance, but had it not been for the woman next to us that spoke English, we wouldn’t have understood a thing. The background information was so interesting so it’s a great shame they don’t provide any explanations in English. Especially since it’s a tourists venue !!!!
The food was very mediocre, with limited choices. My steak was ok but my partners was very fatty
The show lasts about 1.5 hours and at the end the audience is encouraged to get up and dance
Perhaps the price at just under £70 pp is reflective of the quality of the evening
The event is not fully as described. It is two hours, not four. Tango is a small portion of the show so if that’s your primary interest, you may be disappointed. The show starts with folkloric dancing, there are several singers throughout, and ends with candombe numbers. The food is mediocre and disappointing. Four of us ordered the steak and it was so overcooked, even though we asked for medium rare, that we could barely cut it let alone chew it. The wine is plentiful, thank goodness. If I had it to do over, I wouldn’t spend the money.
The entertainment was wonderful and very enjoyable. Food was meh. Service was great and overall enjoyed the evening.
The show was very good. Very entertaining. We enjoyed it. The table service was excellent. Top notch! Equal to the finest restaurants our server was great, making sure everything was good, the wine glasses full & that we were happy. The food that we had was good. Excellent wines.
This experience is a “disneyfication” from what I can tell. The performers and serving were great , but the wine and food were (in my opinion) acceptable only. The wine was lower grade as was the food.
The venue is beautiful, however. Not an authentic experience.
The show great music great dancers
But the food was absolutely terrible.
The fish had a foul taste and the meat was zo hard impossible tot cut etcetcetc 10 people in pur group and none of us finished the good. The wind (White and Rose ver very Sweet) in all a disaster
I and my son had a great time. We loved the dance, singing, and drums. Dinner was good too; service great.
Amazing experience. Highly recommend. Thank you. I’ll be back. Food was excellent and the wine too! :)
The tango performances were great. The cambonde was sort of pathetic, but I was spoiled by seeing the real thing first night of Carnival. All the performers and staff were very professional
You'd think for $85/person there would be a decent sound system. Not true. Sound came clearly from one end of the room as the singer stood, apparently vocalizing, at the other.
The steak was tough, thin, and grizzly. The sides and desert were totally uninspired.
Still, if you don't mind paying the price, it's a good show.
There was minimal tango dancing, it was more elderly people singing and the food was not great. I recommend finding another option, this was my first disappointing experience with a Viator offering.
Food was good, the dancing, singing and music was fantastic, it was much enjoyed. I would recommend the dinner and tango show.
Food and wine was very average - probably the worst we ate in all of South America. The dancing and the shows were amazing, so it's worth to go and see for the, but maybe there are other options with better food?
the gets a 5 star, very good, the service 5 star, food 3 stars.
good experience
Although there are better tango shows in Buenos Aires, this one was also interesting. The venue is in an out of the way neighborhood, but the place itself has its charms. The restaurant is atmospheric, and the waitstaff were very efficient and courteous. You will see a different form of tango here than in Buenos Aires that is more African-influenced and not as stiff and stylized. There is also a gaucho performance that you may not see in Argentina. I spent an enjoyable evening at this venue with tourists from many different countries.
This was an amazing night out very good value for money
The show was much better than what we anticipated since it wasn't just tango. The show also included typical Folk/Gaucho dancing as well as Candombe which is also a very unique music/dance from Uruguay with African influence. The food and the service was excellente as well...the price was very fair considering that is a show that you can only experience in Uruguay. If you visit Montevideo I would highly recommend this show!!!!
Tango dancers were excellent, the rest of the show was so, so. Food was poor as well as the service. Would not recommend this to anyone.
I loved this show, the only reason why I did not rate it as 5 star is because the food (we all had steak) was pretty bad! the chairs uncomfortable and old and uneven, while the food was not great (except for the ice cream at the end) they had plenty of wine (not great but drinkable) the waiters and people at El Milongon were wonderful and the show itself was over the top. Great singers and dancers! Forget the food who cares enjoy the great show they put together.
It was advertised for a 4 hour event and we got 3 hours. The food was horrible. The service was good.
Very top! Very cool team and very organized! Good presentation! Good food and family atmosphere!

Tango, milonga y candombe muy bien interpretados y bailados
Não foi agradável. Comida ruim, bebida quente (vinho fora do gelo) apresentação pífia. Poucas cenas e elenco bem reduzido. Não vale o preço que se paga. Não apresenta menu kids e tão pouco preço para criança menor. A entrada estava horrível … tudo horrível
