We had an excellent private tour with Favio. He was incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, and genuinely passionate about Montevideo. Nothing was too much trouble — he was flexible, obliging, and made the whole experience feel personal and relaxed. We learned so much about the city’s history and culture, and his insights added real depth to every stop. A fantastic guide and a brilliant tour.

Santi was a fantastic guide- very informative and took us all around so we really got a good sample of Montevideo. He stopped when I wanted to take pictures and spent a lot of time with us. One of the best guides ever! So lucky it was a weekend because he only works then.

A perfect day in Montevideo

We started our tour leaving Celebrity Equinox at the port and We always try to tour in small groups. We had 6 of us this day. We found Paola waiting for us just outside the port gates. Paola is a warm, smart multi-lingual guide. She has one goal, to make our day great. She prepared a comprehensive tour of the city with a combination of walking and driving in an air conditioned van piloted by Pablo who was terrific. We spent several hours touring and later we were able to see where we’d gone from the rooftop tower of city hall. We finished the day with a walk through the port market where we had a very nice lunch and then walked across the street to the port gates. Please ask for Paola for your guide with Urban Tours. We thoroughly enjoyed our day.

Paolo is the sweetest nicest young lady with a great passion for what she does and it shows. Nothing was too much trouble. My husband and I knew next to nothing about Uruguay and Montevideo but by the end of the day we knew heaps. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day. This is a great tour if you are looking for a local that tailors the sites to your interests. Fabio was very attentive to our group and provided just the right amount of history along with a personal touch. I would highly recommend this tour if you want to see historic sites along with experiencing the way locals live. The only opportunity was the size of the vehicle if there are four people in your group it was a little tight. Thanks Fabio!

We very much enjoyed our tour with Paola and Santiago. Paola excellently led the tour and Santiago contributed very interesting commentary and historical information. They were very warm and friendly individuals, and it was interesting to hear their personal insights about living in Uruguay and Montevideo, along with the historical and cultural facts about the various locations we visited. We appreciated how willingly they customized our tour to show us locations we had not already visited and to introduce us to some “off-the-beaten-path” places. Of course, we also saw the main tourist attractions. We would highly recommend taking a private tour with them. The experience is wonderful and an excellent value for the price.

Paola and Santiago are the best. I was hesitant at first because I've had private tours before when the host is reading from a script or doesn't know what he is talking about and just considers the tour a job. Not the case with these two. Their passion and knowledge and intelligence was refreshing and after a while I felt I was among friends. Paola never overwhelmed me with facts either and gave me just the right amount of information and history for me to understand the context of the places we visited. Did I mention flexibility? My tour was supposed to start in the morning but my flight didn't get in until 1pm and so Paola and Santiago modified the trip, picked me up at my chosen spot and still managed to show me all the significant places and spots plus a few I added on my own. Their list of recommendations of places to eat also was extensive and it left me wanting to extend my stay. I definitely will look up these two and their tours if I come back to Montevideo and I cannot recommend it enough to anyone wanting to have a fulfilling travel experience

Personable & interactive local tour guides. Suggest to add historical, cultural, & social overviews of Uruguay to current status. Our expectations hardly matched what was experienced when compared to some fifty countries visited earlier.

I would like to offer some context regarding your tour and the reasons why your experience may have been affected in this particular case. As we started the tour, it was mentioned to me that you have hearing difficulties, so I made a conscious effort to speak more slowly to ensure better clarity and comfort for you. This adjustment in pace slightly slowed the rhythm of the tour. Later on, based on your request, we decided to go to 'Mercado del Puerto' for a lunch break. This was a special request that I gladly accommodated in the itinerary. After a shopping break where I assisted your wife Erlinda in selecting souvenirs for your family, including trying on clothes for her daughter-in-law, we continued with the tour. However, she requested to return to the hotel because you were feeling too tired. It’s important to note that, excluding the lunch break, only 2 hours of the 4 to 6-hour tour were spent. We had planned 11 stops, but only 4 were visited, as per your decision. I always encourage travelers to ask any questions they have during the tour, as I want them to feel satisfied and well-informed. The feeling that there was a lack of information came from the fact that the tour was shortened, and not because there was a lack of content or preparation on my part. We would have appreciated it if you had shared your thoughts with us directly on the day of the tour, as this would have allowed us to better understand your expectations and adapt the experience in real time. Paola was fantastic, we had a great in-depth education on the evolution of the city with on site visuals of how the city was transformed from 18th century to present day. The tour was fun, interesting, customized based on our interests and was great value for the price. I highly recommend for those interested in learning about Uruguay overall and Montevideo.

Paola is one of the best tour guides I've ever had! She was so knowledgeable and proud of her country! Santi was also a great asset to the tour, driving us all over the city. Paola reached out to us via WhatsApp before our arrival with all the information we needed. She greeted us with a sign at the airport and everything was very smooth. They offered to stop by our hotel so we would be more comfortable after a long flight (which was unexpected and greatly appreciated) The whole day was planned perfectly with a combination of walking, driving and great history and story telling. I would not hesitate to recommend this tour to anyone and will pick them again when I return!

Great tour with an excellent guide

We really enjoyed every bit of this tour. Given that we were in Montevideo just for a day, we wanted to fully experience the city. Our tour guide Paola and the driver Felipe ensured that we see all the important landmarks and learn as much about the city, its history, culture and also about Uruguay as well. Paola is very knowledgeable, professional, friendly and easy going. We felt like we have know her for years. The timing of the tour was perfect. We got picked up at Buquebus terminal upon our arrival in Montevideo and we got dropped off about an hour before the boarding. There are plenty of opportunities to take pictures, buy souvenirs and also taste some delicious food. We highly recommend Paola and her team.

My day started not so good because when I arrive in Montevideo, my luggage didbt arrive on time. But when I started my tour with my tour guide Paola she was very warm and welcoming . She helped me get around by showing all over the important places in the city . I felt like I am just hanging out with my friend who made me feel comfortable. We both didn’t even realize how time flies as we were talking a lot and having a good time . I’ll never forget my first time visit in Montevideo .
