An exceptional experience led by our insightful and engaging guide, Catherine. Her depth of knowledge brought not only the rich tennis legacy to life, but also the broader history of the entire complex. A truly memorable tour.

I had such a great time! I’m a sports fan and this tour isn’t only about the Australian Open, it includes the whole Melbourne Park with all its sports and history. And I found it so fun and interesting!
The highlight is that you get to play tennis on the blue courts of course.
And our guide was a very good photographer too 😄

Great tour. Extremely informative. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and made the tour interesting and fun.

Our guide Ben was full of knowledge.
We had a great time wandering around the tennis centre and looking at it at a different view as there were no crowds.
We had a game of tennis on one of the practice courts.
We got to watch the Collingwood football team practice.
We also got to go in and view the cricket ground.
Definitely a fantastic tour .
Thanks Ben 🤗

I would first like to express my sincere appreciation for our guide, Ben. He was very dedicated and professional. Due to a sudden schedule change, he went above and beyond to notify all group members and ensure everyone was informed and coordinated, which was highly commendable.
However, compared to my previous experiences with official tours at other Grand Slam venues or major sports stadiums, I must admit this tour fell short of my expectations. The overall experience did not feel as official or immersive as anticipated. Specifically, I have the following observations:
1)Having attended the Australian Open before, I had expected the tour to provide deeper access to iconic and functional areas of the venue. For example, I hoped to see the main arena (Rod Laver Arena), player locker rooms, player tunnels, and the media interview room. Instead, the access felt limited—we only entered the KIA Arena and what appeared to be an unused or secondary court. The experience lacked the "behind-the-scenes" feel and was not as immersive as I had hoped.
2)The one-hour tennis playing session was a great idea and enjoyable. However, it was held at the National Tennis Centre, which felt disconnected from the main Melbourne Park location. This created a sense of fragmentation in the tour's narrative and geography.
3)The tour was advertised as 2.5 hours long, but the actual content related to the Australian Open and the iconic aspects of Melbourne Park felt insufficient. A larger portion of the time could be dedicated to exploring the history, operations, and exclusive areas of the main complex to enhance the value proposition.

I booked the Melbourne Park Tennis Experience primarily for my husband, who’s a huge tennis and overall sports fan.
We had a small group, which made the experience feel personal and relaxed, and our guide Ben was outstanding. He was extremely knowledgeable, engaging, and clearly passionate about sport. He didn’t just share basic facts — he provided fascinating insights, behind-the-scenes stories, and great historical context that brought everything to life.
While tennis at Melbourne Park was the main focus, the tour covered so much more. We also visited the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground, learned about cricket traditions, and got clear, interesting explanations of Australian Rules Football. Ben also walked us through the broader downtown Melbourne sports precinct, explaining how all the major stadiums connect and how deeply sport is woven into the city’s culture.
My husband was absolutely in his element the entire time, and even as someone who isn’t as sports-obsessed, I found it incredibly interesting and well paced. The highlight of the tour for my husband was getting to hit balls on one of the famous blue courts used at the Australian Open and meeting Thanasi Kokkinakis.
If you’re traveling with a sports fan — or just want a unique way to experience Melbourne — I highly recommend this tour. It’s informative, fun, and a fantastic way to appreciate why Melbourne is considered one of the sporting capitals of the world.

We assumed it was just only a tennis tour but we covered other sports venues in the area. We had great timing because The Australian Open was beginning and our excursion covered access to the grounds to watch qualifying rounds, practices, and merchandise shopping. Greg our tour guide was very knowledgeable about all sports history and its venues.
Shreyansh_V, Dec 2025
Extremely fun and knowledgeable guide. Loved it. He was truly a sports nerd and we struck a vibing resonance
Response from Host, Dec 2025
Hey Shreya - thanks for the review. You and your Dad's smiles absolutely made my day. Especially your Dad's cheeky big kid smile! And thanks for the "sports nerd" tag - all our guides wear it with pride!
James_H, Dec 2025
Don’t waste your $$ booking this tour.
Anyone can walk the very same route of this tour (Birrarung Marr to Melbourne Park and across the road to Olympic Park and then across the footbridge to the MCG).
There was no (zero) access to any of Melbourne Park’s main arenas. No insight to the inner workings of the tournament.
Complete waste of money.
Response from Host, Dec 2025
Hey James - we're super sorry you and your international guests didn't have a great experience and we didn't live up to your expectations.
As per your pre-tour enquiries and our communications we feel that we were clear on what was to be expected.
And as all tennis fans know, Melbourne Park is being busily prepared for the Happy Slam in a couple of weeks so access is obviously limited.
However, our general feedback from other guests is that it is an interesting time to visit to see what it will look like when the event is on.
Note, we discount our tour during December to reflect this, because we are always striving for value for money for our experience.
Regardless, we'd love for you to give us a second chance and we're sure we can show you a great time.
(Footnote: this tour does have access to Kia Arena and at other times of the year one or two of the stadium show courts where have the chance to take some great pics.)
Sarah_S, Dec 2025
Michael was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable. It was a fun and interactive tour. If you are a sports fan this is a must 👍
Response from Host, Dec 2025
Thanks for taking the time to write this review Sarah - how good is Michael?! The Sporting Capital Tours team has absolutely fallen in love with him. He's an absolute ripper.
We're currently working on a method to bottle that famous enthusiasm because we think it would sell really well as tour merchandise.
Jonathan_C, Dec 2025
We were expecting more of a tennis tour and not a general sports tour. Calling this experience “Melbourne Park Tennis Experience” is quite misleading in my opinion. There was v limited access to the tennis. I appreciate they are building up to the AO but it should not be full price for the tour we had.
Response from Host, Dec 2025
Hi Jonathan
We're disappointed to hear that you didn't have our usual 5-star experience.
You are correct that we do include other elements of Melbourne's sporting culture and history and our feedback is that this is greatly appreciated by tennis and sports fans alike.
We appreciate you making note that during December access is limited due to the AO construction - and in fact we do heavily discount the tour during this month to reflect that, so with regards to your comment, it is not the full price.
Again, most of our guests love the guided experience by a local through the venue and can get to see what the event will look like in January.
Tunde_V, Dec 2025
The tour through Melbourne ark was interesting and Greg was very informative. The actual tennis part was on the National Tennis Center where we did play the day before and not on AO’s court ( due to the prep works for the AO 2026). While this is understandable but not at all clear from the description what the tour actually includes.
Response from Host, Jan 2026
Hi Tunde - sorry we didn't hit the mark with your experience.
Court availability is super tight in those first few days of December due to AO preparations. You were playing at the Practice Village which is a big part of the AO but not specifically tournament courts.
Also note we don't encourage people to visit the sports precinct the day before our tour as it will affect your experience on the day.
Raghunandan_K, Nov 2025
It is more of a guided walking tour.
1 court for all members
Not worth the price, maybe 1/3 price would have been worth it.
We did not get to walk into the court like shown in the photo.
Response from Host, Jan 2026
Crikey, one third the price is pretty harsh!
Pretty sure we would not exist if we charged that much and I don't think you're finding many 3-4 hour experiences at that price.
And for the record, yes you are correct, we are a guided walking tour ... with a difference, where you get to play tennis, learn Aussie Rules etc
We're sorry we didn't meet your expectations.
Rohan_C, Nov 2025
Amazing experience, very knowledgable and friendly tour guide. Must do for tennis and sports enthusiasts!
Response from Host, Jan 2026

Thanks for the tour!!
Bert en Wies.
Response from Host, Jan 2026
Nice review Bert - love it! I think it is part of the magic of our tour that you meet - and can play against - people from around the world. More than a lot of general tours, sport is a global language and it brings us together.
Stefan_B, Sep 2025
Great Experience - especially for sport „nerds“ (not only tennis😉)
Our guide Ben shared his deep knowledge of Aussie-sports with all of us and playing some tennis on a blue AO Hardcourt was just cool🤩
Response from Host, Jan 2026
Hey Stefan - I think this was my birthday so I was having as much fun as you! Rapt you enjoyed the day.
Nisha_N, Sep 2025
Overpriced, not worth it.
Rather take the MCG tour which was value for money, with getting inside the stadium, players change rooms etc. With tennis park it's just talk mainly about outside tennis park places, no tour of rod laver or Margaret court, just photos from the outside. Not worth $120 per person. Something that you can do yourself.
Response from Host, Jan 2026
Hi Nisha - sorry you didn't find our tour value for money. Pricing is always a challenge when running a small business and we're always striving to make sure that we keep prices as low as possible.
We've managed to keep our tour cost to only the single price increase in five years which we're pretty proud of, and we're super competitive compared to similar city walking tour experiences around Australia.
KT_P, Sep 2025
A guided tour of Melbourne Park up to the MCG, with an hour to play tennis on one of the outside courts that is used for the Australian Open. Please note that there is no entry to any of the main arenas like Rod Laver and Margaret Court. Did get to go inside KIA Arena and the MCG though.
Response from Host, Jan 2026
Thanks for the kind review KT
Tracy_L, Sep 2025
I recently took a local tour of Melbourne's iconic sports venues, and it was fantastic! Our guide Catherine was incredibly knowledgeable, sharing captivating stories about each location. The highlight was visiting the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), where the history of Australian sports truly comes alive. We also explored Rod Laver Arena and Marvel Stadium, both of which were impressive. The tour was well-organized, allowing plenty of time for questions and photos. It was a great opportunity to meet fellow sports fans and soak in Melbourne's vibrant sporting culture. We even had a chance to play tennis on the venue! Highly recommended for anyone looking to experience the city’s sports scene!
Response from Host, Jan 2026
Thanks Tracey - Cathy is a good egg. She loves her sport and she loves running these tours - and it shows.

Mila_Q, Aug 2025
Ben was a great and knowledgeable guide, provided lots of insightful commentary throughout the tour. Being able to access and see the AO courts and even get some hitting time was an amazing experience.
Response from Host, Aug 2025
Hey Mila - thanks so much for taking the time to write this review. Rapt you had a great time. See you back in Melbourne in January one day?
Eva_Y, Aug 2025
Great experience for tennis fans. Ben was a friendly and knowledgeable tour guide. We walked through various areas of Melbourne Park and got to play some tennis on one of the side courts which was fun for everyone.
Response from Host, Aug 2025
Thanks for taking the time to provide your review - it is very much appreciated (as are the five stars!!!) and glad you had fun.

Response from Host, Aug 2025
Hi Albert - thanks for the kind review. I think your boys were the real stars of the tour. Smart, funny with a couple of seriously good forehands.

I had high expectations to play with my son on the famous Melbourne tennis courts. Sadly we had to share the court and played only a few balls. The tour would had been better if the tour guide would have informed everyone where we hatted to, after we stopped tennis. The last stop after we have walked around a big stadium with no explanation which was the end after we asked.
The tour could improve if the guide would have involved the whole group in his conversation. This particular guide focused on only one guest.
Response from Host, Jul 2025
Hi Fred - thanks for taking the time to give us the review. We love our 5-star reviews but we are definitely not perfect so when we aren't, it's good to hear how we can improve. Yes, we do share courts with other people as this is a public tour, not a private experience. We usually find that sharing the court and playing with people from around the world is actually a key feature of most people's experience but we're sorry that this didn't meet your expectations. We do note that we had a great hit that day and everyone had excellent court time for 45-50 minutes. I was your guide that day and on reflection there were a couple of big personalities on your tour so I'm sorry that you felt that I didn't share the love.
Marc_H, Jul 2025
Incredible experience, an absolute highlight of our time in Australia. Ben was a fantastic guide. He clearly has a passion for the city, sports history and educating his guests. It was fun and comfortable and tailored, never intimidating or overwhelming. The access to venues was unbelievable. I mean, who gets to play on major tennis courts?!?!? We made lifelong memories and will always watch the Australian Open with an extra special feeling.
Jacob_R, Jun 2025
My wife and I went in. not knowing what to expect but Cathy led the best tour I have ever been apart of. She brought to life the sports fanatic city of Melbourne with her own personal knowledge and touch. The highlight having a hit on the actual AO practice courts. Could not recommend this tour enough.
Lisa_B, Mar 2025
A great tour!! Ben was very knowledgeable, personable and spent time getting to know everyone in the group. Learned lots of interesting history and facts about Melbourne and all the sports. Seeing the grounds of Australian Open was amazing and playing tennis there was incredible. Highly recommend as it exceeded expectations!!
Also - Ben provided clear directions and video on meeting spot which was really appreciated.
Megan_H, Mar 2025
Great opportunity to see the sporting facilities Melbourne has to offer as well as learn about Australian sports and a little history! Being able to play tennis on the AO grounds and taking a photo on one of the courts was a highlight! Small group personal tour.
kristinshaw, Oct 2024
As an avid tennis player this was a highlight to my trip! We walked the grounds and got to hit balls at the same practice facility as pros use during the Melbourne tourney! Awesome 🎾
Response from Host, Oct 2024
Glad you enjoyed it. My job is pretty seeing sports and tennis fans alike having this experience.
TinWai_W, Oct 2024
A bit disappointing with the experience. We could not get into any arena. You can go by yourself without a tour
Response from Host, Nov 2024
Hi Tin - I am sincerely sorry you were disappointed with the tour. I thought we had a great tour that day with some great 5-star reviews from Mon, Gordon and Jim (see below). I also remember it was hard to get you off the tennis court so I thought you were having great fun.
We are quite clear in the tour descriptions about what access you get to what stadiums so apologies that you didn't pick up on this.
