A lot of walking but certainly worth it! We learnt about the Tennis Centre, the surrounding courts and the arenas. Catherine was very interesting and shared a vast amount of knowledge of the area and her personal experiences with celebrity tennis players. The MCG tour was also interesting and we were able to see allowed behind the scene areas.
Tracy_B, Jun 2026
Very knowledgeable tour guide, easy to chat with, personable gentleman with great communication skills. Plenty to hear about, historical & sporting information & very interesting information.
Alexander_B, Apr 2026
Engaging and very well-informed guide for the first part, very accommodating throughout. MCG tour guide was also great, good sense of humor.
Latoya_R, Mar 2026
The first part of the tour was awesome! It was very informative and our guide was so friendly, knowledgeable, and even offered to take photos! The MCG tour was lacking a bit. Although our guide was great, we didn’t see quite a few things because there was a concert so they closed off a lot of the tour. If you do book make sure it’s available for the the entire grounds.

There’s a fair bit of walking involved so go prepared with a comfortable pair of shoes or trainers - and on a hot day take plenty of water / drinks. There is a cafe at the MCG but this is toward the end of the tour.
Our walking guide Greg was very friendly and knowledgeable on the various sporting venues - the pace of the tour was just right and allowed plenty of time to chat and ask questions and to take photos along the way.
Once at the MCG, we were handed over to David, an MCG member who was also very knowledgeable on the subject matter and a great enthusiast on the game.
It’s a very worthwhile tour and would highly recommend it - whether you’re a sports fan or not!

I had just the most amazing time on the tour. Cathy was absolutely incredible and I had such a wonderful time listening to her different stories. This is an absolute must do tour for a fan of sports. It was an absolute pleasure to be on the tour today, and I hope others enjoy the tour as well

Our guide was Katherine and she was definitely a very engaged expert about sports life in general and tennis in particular as has worked in the Australian Open team for many years. I would totally recommend this. She left us at the MCG for us to participate in their own tour;
My only reservation is with the management team at he tour provider. They had notified me when I made the reservation about a month ago that the time would be changed to 12h30. When it came time to go, I looked at Viator and the tour was back at 1 PM. A reminder to my WhatsApp about that change would have been so helpful. We left drinks behind that we had just purchased and missed the first 30 minutes of the tour.

Ben arrived on time with a great greeting and as there were only 2 of us we had a personal experience which was second to none.
As is was the final few days of the Australian Open, Ben took us into the event and straight onto an outside court to see a quarter final of the junior championship , followed by entry into the Rod Laver Arena where we saw match point of the mixed doubles final . So to soak up this atmosphere was great. Right place right time.
Ben continued to show us around the AO and the information he shared was very good and enlightening.
We continued on through the sports complex and he gave us a great insight into Aussie rules football.
The highlight was then Ben taking us across to the Melbourne Cricket Ground for a stadium tour which was great.
If you are looking for a sports tour in Melbourne, please book this trip for great inside knowledge, and an overall fun experience

This was a fantastic walking tour. So much information on Melbourne’s sporting history and tips for walking sports while here. Fantastic guide who had such a wealth of knowledge of all the sports played. Highly recommend!!!
Response from Host, Jan 2026
Thanks Caroline - we've got a great team of hosts and guides at the moment. The thing we all have in common is that we love our sport and we love showing off this amazing sporting city.
Anupam_D, Dec 2025
We fully enjoyed the tour. The MCG tour was operated by an MCG volunteer. The 90 minutes long tour was worth every penny. You don't have to be a cricket lover to like this tour. After finishing the MCG tour, we met Ben for the rest of the tour which included the AO courts and the Olympic park. Ben was very kind and knowledgeable. He was very patient to answer all our questions. We highly recommend this tour. You won't regret it.
Response from Host, Jan 2026
Thanks for the kind review. It was a super enjoyable tour. Thanks for being great and engaged guests.
Deanne_L, Jul 2025
Ben is a fantastic host, very knowledgeable and friendly. He clearly loves his sport and this shows in his enthusiasm. The only reason that this wasn’t 5 stars was because we couldn’t have the tour of the MCG stadium as there was an AFL game playing, however he did give us the option of full refund/book another day or tickets to the game. We chose the later and had a great time!
Response from Host, Aug 2025
Thanks for the review and thanks for the feedback. Note we do choose to keep the tour option when there are games on and give people those options. Admittedly I am a little biased but I do think watching a game of Aussie Rules should be on every tourist’s Melbourne itinerary! It is a unique insight into this city’s culture and definitely an equal alternative to the behind the scenes tour.
John_B, Jul 2025
Good meeting place and Catherine was early and had communicated and confirmed details earlier which always reassures me
Having been involved in the AO she was able to give little insights behind the scenes which was very interesting. The MCG was just awesome and the tour guide was excellent
Sarah_G, Jul 2025
What a great tour! Ben is a great tour guide and very knowledgeable.
As a sports fan I knew I had to this tour
Cai_R, Apr 2025
Catherine is a wonderful tour guide who gave us so many stories especially about the Australian open. Makes me want to go back and experience the event itself. Must-go tour when you chance to visit Melbourne!
Thomas_U, Mar 2025
We had a wonderful time with our Melbourne Sports Experience. Greg made us feel like we were actually experiencing the Australia Open. It was exactly what we were looking for. Our tour also included the MCG Tour. Our tour guide Graeme was outstanding. We covered the entire MCG from top to bottom. So much history! We are very glad that we included this tour in our trip itinerary.
Ivor_G, Feb 2025
Our guide Ben was really knowledgeable and obviously has a passion for all sports. He made the day really interesting and offered an insight into the stadiums we visited. Would highly recommend.

Amazing Experience with Ben.
Very Informative & Interactive ….
Must visit Tour of MCG in Melbourne.
Enjoyed to the Core.
Claudia_R, Dec 2024
Ben gives an enthusiastic tour of the Melbourne Sports complex. He is very knowledgeable of the sports played there and the history of the complex. It was great to see the tennis facilities which are seen on tv during Australian Open and he gave a tutorial on Aussie rules football which most people confuse with Rugby! We wrapped up at the MCG which was the highlight the cricket fans. This is a must do tour for any sports fan and Ben is the man to do it with!
Response from Host, Jan 2025
Many thanks for the brilliant review. Our tour often feels like a bit of an education session for some of Australia’s weird national sports. But, hey, that’s the best part of travelling isn’t it?!
Adam_G, Dec 2024
Ben was great, unique and fun experience, great way to learn sporting history and how it played into other history of city

Sports mad. Sports nerd. Sports nut. I’ve been called them all!!
Brian_T, Mar 2024
If you're interested in seeing some of the most notable sports facilities in Melbourne and learning about some of the history of sport in Australia, this is a great tour. Ben is an awesome guide with lots of good stories, and the smaller group size makes it a much more enjoyable tour.
Response from Host, Mar 2024
Cheers Brian - you and AJ were great sports. Hope the Bass Strait crossing was kind to you and you're enjoying the best of Tassie.
Marissa_E, Dec 2023
Our guide Ben was great! Very knowledgeable and passionate about sports and sports history. Melbourne Park was being set up for the Australia Open. It will be fun to see the finished product on TV in a couple weeks!

Ben is fantastic guide. He is passionate for sports, has deep understanding of the history associated Sports capital arena, and loves to share with folks. We loved the tour.
MCG was awesome as well. The MCG tour guide ( I cannot recollect her - very sorry!!) was fantastic. We got to see pavilion, change room, library, members and media folks seating area, library and THE MCG stadium. She has an excellent understanding of the history of the game...
If you are a sports enthusiast, this tour is a must

Response from Host, Aug 2023
Hi Lynsey - my thanks for a very kind review and I'm glad Dom brought it home with a great MCG Tour. He is one of the best. I was thinking of you at the Brazil v Jamaica game. Not the best contest but an exciting result for the Reggae Girlz!
