Good way to know more about Melbourne. We had a great time learning about the great arcades and lanes while tasting good chocolate. Tonya was a great guide.

Our tour guide Brianna was very friendly and informative. The stops were great and the last stop was next level. I would recommend this to anyone visiting Melbourne.

A really good tour seeing the arcades of Melbourne and plenty of local chocolate tasting . Our guide Tanya was very informative Only thing I would probably change is the walk through the modern shopping centre- better to stick to the older more interesting lanes and arcades .

Our tour guide Tonya was energetic and informative. The tour showed us many interesting arcades and lanes and the chocolate treats were delicious.
Sheryl_M, Mar 2026
Great tour as well as tasting chocolate you experience walking through the lanes and alleyways and learn the history of Melbourne

Fantastic! We’d never done a chocolate tour before and definitely enjoyed ourselves. Far from chocolate connoisseurs but Ivan taught us so much, including the correct way to taste chocolate. Great way to see Melbourne but so much better than any other walking tour because, chocolate. Thank you Ivan!

Today, my wife and I devoted three most delightful and delicious hours exploring, dining, and discussing all things chocolate and art with guide Lauren from Melbourne Lanes and Arcades, Chocolate and Dessert Tour.
Lauren’s presentation was informative and interesting as she presented chocolate factoids regarding our destinations, chocolates served, and historical briefs regarding the Melbourne locations we visited and thoroughly enjoyed along the itinerary’s route.
The five chocolate destinations were varied and provided absolutely surprising and scrumptious variations ranging from chocolate ganache toast to chocolate themed cookies to Chinese chocolate dumplings to other mouth-watering chocolate morsels.
Knowing we were visual art lovers, Lauren even included brief stoppages at several of Melbourne’s alley murals.
The tour offered a nice variation between walking and having a couple of stops where we could sit and rest.
We are so very pleased to offer our highest recommendation and praise for the quality of the tour, the tastings and, especially, of our guide, Lauren.

Loved this tour. We live in Melbourne and we learnt a lot and went to places I didn't know existed. Dont find out where you will be going on the tour as its always a lovely surprise, especially if you do the 3 hour tour. The last stop is excellent!! Highly recommended. Lauren our host was fabulous, chatty and informative.

It was a fun way to try lots of different chocolates and learn a little bit about Melbourne. The guide was great and it was good value. We would have liked to explore more laneways.and arcades-that was one of the main reasons we chose this particular tour.
Response from Host, Aug 2025
Hi Susan - glad to hear you enjoyed the chocolate and the tour. We are so lucky to live in a city with lots of amazing laneways and arcades. Please reach out to us by email and we can share more of our favourites (and we've got quite a few great recommendations!) with you that we weren't able to get to on the tour, chocolate regards, Carl and the chocolate team

Who doesn’t love chocolate? We went to a variety of establishments on this tour and got delicious samples at every location. We were also given a discount on any personal purchases at all the shops. Our tour guide was lively, informative, and fun. As we walked around the city she pointed out buildings or shared fun facts about the city with us. The tour not only taught us about chocolate, but also gave us an opportunity to see and learn about the city. If you love chocolate and walking abound a bustling city take the tour. You won’t be disappointed!! Don’t forget to tip your tour guide!

Wonderful experience! Ivan our guide was great. He was funny, friendly, welcoming, and made a point to include all in the tour which made for a relaxed time. He also gave us some history of Melbourne. We tried many variations of chocolate-many from AU but also a Chinese and Korean dessert that we never would have tried. We liked them both!

If you love chocolate, this tour is for you. We visited five artisian chocolate shops, a shaved ice place, and a dumpling restaurant, where we had a very pleasant surprise. Ivan, our guide, was wonderful, funny, and also pointed out architectural features and objects while giving us their histories. I thoroughly enjoyed this tour and would highly recommend to everyone.

It was a fun and delicious tour. Ivan the tour guide took us to a range of chocolate boutiques where we tasted a variety of delicious chocolates. He has a wealth of knowledge about the different products and places we visited. One stop, in particular, was quite surprising - the koala dessert in the dumpling house. It was great. He showed us additional buildings as well as providing a brief but interesting history about each of them.
Response from Host, Feb 2025
Thanks Matthew - the koala buns are always a hit! Great to hear you had a fun time with Ivan, chocolate regards, Carl and the chocolate team

If you want to know what makes a good tour guide, Peggy seems to give you the answer = she has a history degree and is in the process of completing her masters. In other words, she is a historian. You might not think that you need that for a chocolate tour. After all, you're there to eat chocolate, not to hear all of that boring history stuff, but she knew everything you could ever want to know about chocolate, interspersed with various Melbourne history as well, including showing us dancing clocks that we would never have noticed, and archways that were bulldozed for the sake of Melbourne's 1956 Olympics and all sorts of little things. The sign that she held, probably at great strain to her upper arm, guaranteed we wouldn't get lost and was also a great way to advertise the tour to passers-by. This is how all tours should be. You couldn't ask for more. Also, with the amount of chocolate we ate, as well as the tips for fun stuff, it was well and truly worth it. We even got a 10% discount at the 5 stops if we wanted to buy any of our own stuff! And shout out to the magnificent staff at the 5 shops we went to s well!
Response from Host, Nov 2024
Thank you so much Adrian for this glowing review - we think Peggy is excellent too! Certainly sounds like you managed to cram a lot into your time on the tour! Hope to see you another time, chocolate regards, Carl and the chocolate team

Peggy was a fabulous guide and took us around to multiple shops in Melbourne for some great chocolate sampling, including a bonus stop that was unexpected - along the way we had great conversations with her as a Melbourne native and got to exchange a lot of great tips and thoughts. Won't spoil the surprise of some of the tastings which are both unexpected and delicious. There's some walking involved, but nothing strenuous, and get to explore some of the laneways of Melbourne where all the cool shops are located.
Response from Host, Jun 2024
