Beautiful experience - our driver and guide (Benoit/"Ben") was fantastic! He was super helpful explaining in English as we went along and brought a positive attitude throughout the entire experience. We loved seeing local lavender producers and learning about the process, as well as seeing some of Provence's most beautiful villages!

Paolo was absolutely the best guide and driver! Clear communications for English and local French speakers. He had a relationship with the lavender farmers and knew ‘surprise’ off the regular tourist fields. Timing was perfect. Great driver! Bring water!!!! And sun screen and clothes. Scorching sun now in the fields.
Response from Host, Jun 2025
Bonjour,
Thank you so much for your kind words! We're delighted to hear that you had such a great experience with Paolo — he's indeed a fantastic guide, and we're lucky to have him on our team. We're glad you enjoyed the off-the-beaten-path lavender fields and that the timing worked perfectly for you.
Thanks also for the helpful tips for future travelers — very true, the sun can be intense this time of year!
We hope to see you again soon for another adventure.

The guide was very accommodating, however; our goal was to see the lavender fields and we only found one field in bloom. We traveled by train from Avignon, then took a taxi to the hotel, 3+ miles away. Little did we know that we'd spend over 3.5 hours (r/t) driving in a full van. Marseille traffic is horrible - not worth the time nor money with a guide/driver who was a employee hired during the tourist season and it was his first day on the job. Not his fault - I blame the tour company.
Response from Host, Jun 2025
Bonjour,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're sorry the experience didn’t fully meet your expectations.
Your tour took place on the very first day of our lavender season, which is why your guide, though well-prepared, was leading his first group. We appreciate your understanding as we launch the season.
As for the lavender fields, their blooming is entirely dependent on weather conditions, and only a few had begun flowering at the time of your visit. We understand this can be disappointing and always do our best to time tours as well as possible.
Just for future reference, we also offer lavender tours departing directly from Avignon, which could have spared you the extra travel to Marseille.
Finally, when we noticed you had made two bookings for the same tour, our team reached out immediately, because our priority is always to support our guests and ensure a smooth experience.
We truly hope to welcome you again under better circumstances.
Best Regards,
A la Française

The dreamiest day in France! Our guides had 2 vans and drove us from Marseille to Valensole and the areas nearby. The lavender was in full bloom in mid-July, and the fields were simply amazing! The fields delighted all of the senses—the intoxicating smell, the buzz of the bees, the intense purples, and the tickle of the stems touching our legs. The beauty of it all filled our hearts with joy. Our guides took us to several fields and drove us by many more. We visited a farm that grew lavender, grapes, flowers, olives and kept honey bees. We were able to taste all of their delights and buy some of our own. As we headed into the mountains, we witnessed even more beauty. We had lunch in a high mountain village, before heading to a gorgeous lake. Our guides were very friendly and informative, and were very careful as they drove through the mountain roads. We finished our tour on time and we were so thankful for such a dreamy day!

Ines was a very pleasant, friendly, and safe driver who took us to two beautiful fully blooming lavender fields, which was the highlight of our trip. We also enjoyed visiting too small picturesque villages and a nice lake. It was a hot and sunny day, but this was a very interesting and fun trip because of the awesome tour guide and great scenery.

A long tour but so worth it to see the lavender! We ended up going to 4 fields and also got to go to a food producer to sample some lavender products, a beautiful town for lunch and shopping and then the lake at Saint Croix. The tour doesn’t mention the swimming option so you should bring your suits if you want to get in or rent a paddle boat. Hugo did an awesome job on time and all of the long driving!
Response from Host, Jul 2024
Bonjour,
We are happy that you enjoyed your trip in Provence with our guide Hugo,
I refer you to the link of the tour you booked and where it is clearly stated that you must bring a swimsuit, I am sorry that you were not able to enjoy swimming in the lake.

Ines was a wonderful guide and knew which lavender and sunflower fields to go to for vibrant colors and away from the crowds. We stopped at a small lavender and olive farm for a tasting and time to buy a few items which was interesting and fun. Lunch in a medieval town then a drink overlooking the lake was a nice finish to the day. Definitely recommend this tour.

I enjoyed seeing the lavender fields but we were not told in advance that we would be visiting a small village in the mountains or going to a lake. Therefore none is us brought our swimming costumes but the guide went swimming herself for an hour! I also have mobility problems so I could not access the village and had to grab the first chair I saw and stay there for the two hours which was boring. I think each tour should have mobility ratings

THIS TRIP NEVER HAPPENED! We called a taxi to take us to the meeting point at 8am and it never arrived! At 845 am we called an Uber…same, never arrived! We tried to call Viator to tell them we were experiencing these issues and all the recording said was “We’re sorry.” The tour operator called us at 915 am asking where we were and I told her what was happening. She said “the driver is leaving now.” I asked if the driver could pick us up on the way out and she did NOT answer the question! She only repeated herself saying “The driver is leaving now!” I told her I wanted a refund and I got a message from Viator saying “There is no refund!” So I have to pay for other people’s incompetence????! Viator seems to think so! For our next Europe vacation we WILL NOT be choosing Viator and we will be sure to let our travel magazine in our state know this is how Viator does business!
Response from Host, Jul 2023
Hello ,
This comment does not belong on this site. Please take it out on the right people the Uber.
The guide waited for you 15 minutes and he couldn't pick you up because there were other customers at the pick-up and they were too far to pick them up in Marseille. They wasted the guide's time and disrupted the program.
Our guide was on time at the right place with the other customers and we are not responsible that the Uber did not come and we do not have to assume that or blame all the other customers for being late.
No reason to refund since they are the ones who are not presented at the pick-up at the right time.

What an amazing trip, weather was perfect, lavendin in full bloom. We had a visit to the lavender field follow up by a tasting of products. Then lunch in a super charming village and ended our tour with a swim in the lake. Just perfect. Our guide Ysaline is super nice, especially when she played Mylene Farmer in the car on the way back to Marseille ;)

Seeing the field after field of lavender for miles was an experience you shouldn't miss. This tour gave us it in spades. Our guide, Morgane, was great- giving background information, taking us to the best (often the least crowded) fields, and trying to insure we had a good time. The stop at a producer was informative and gave us the ability to buy lavender products no usually available in the cities. The stop at Moustiers-Sainte-Marie was an excellent ending to the day. The little village perched up in the 'mountains' was a joy to explore. The only thing wrong was that we didn't have enough time to explore it. I would delete the stop at the lake at Sainte-Croix-du-Verdon to give more time as there wasn't much there to see.
The only caution I would give is to check when the lavender fields are in bloom as it's only a short time in June-July.

A great experience.
We went on our tour in early July, so were very lucky to catch the lavender fields just before harvest - incredible!
The town of Moustiers-Sainte-Marie is ripped out of a storybook…a highlight for us! Catch lunch at cascade for an ethereal ambiance.
The lake is gorgeous, but we weren’t prepared to swim.
⚠️ Recommend bringing a towel, bathing suit and dry change of clothes for the ride back to Marseille.

The ride itself took us through amazing landscapes dotted with villages, pastures, mountains and, of course, lavender fields! We stopped at two fields for pictures and at a shop that allowed taste testing of olive oils and jam. I had a lavender syrup drink that was so good I had another. Every stop was magical! Thanks to Morgane for her friendliness and invaluable knowledge.

What an amazing experience! Our guide was so informative, friendly, and ready to accommodate options for the group! The vehicle was brand new and very comfortable. Elias, our guide, provided so much historical information on the way to the lavender fields. We had an amazing educational stop about the different types of lavender And were able to taste different items that were made farmed there… olive oil, almonds, lavender jam. We were lucky to have the fields of poppies blooming at the same time. We also were given the opportunity to see flowering fields of sage, used in perfume making (not the kind you cook with). Ended the afternoon in the most amazing town called Moustiers-Saint-Marie for lunch, shopping and sightseeing. Perfect trip!

Is my first time to Provence, and didn't realize the lavender is suppose to fully bloom end of July. But we had a lot because our tour guide Coleen is so friendly, ask us what we like to do, went out her way, so really hard to find this type of tour guide anymore. Also another tour guide Elliott he was helpful explaining many stuff around the trip. I would come back again to see the fully bloom lavender. The food was delicious 😋. Definitely 2 thumbs up 👍

It was a lovely time! We visited two charming towns before heading to the lavender fields. It was the last day of the season and our guides tried their very best to find us quality fields to visit and they 100% delivered. It was so fun to take pictures in the fields. We then visited a family run farm to buy different lavender based products. The van had a lot of leg room and was very comfortable. Be prepared to dive a total of about 3 hours on this trip. They split the drive there up nicely with different spots so it really doesn’t feel like much!! Had a great time :)
