City was lovely with lots of history, but disappointed with the tour and guide. The whole tour seemed to be flat and not engaging.
This was the second stop of our transatlantic cruise, so the destination was not our choice. However, we loved that La Coruna's port was in the heart of the city center. For this reason (and the lack of excursion options on the island), we chose a walking tour. We found the meeting spot and the guide with no difficulty. Sadly, our guide is a new English speaker, so I think some things got lost in translation, but she tried and got her point across with a smile. It was a 2 hour tour where we walked through Old Town where few cars travelled down deserted and populated streets, through the main tourist shopping areas and ended at the beach (all which I think we could have seen if we just wandered around on our own). It was a nice tour, but not a lot to see other than a lot of empty buildings or construction at every turn. While I know it is hard to compare to a driving tour of an island, it didn’t seem this island had much more to offer. It seemed like many people just got off the ship and wandered around and got back on early (as we did). We certainly heard stories we would not have seeked out on our own and got some nice photos, but I would have hoped a walking tour would have afforded more walking and seeing rather than walking, stopping, talking, etc. Overall, it was a short introduction to the island, which is what we expected, but nothing above and beyond.

La Coruña, in Galician A Coruña, is not an island. It forms part of what is the Iberian Peninsula, aka Spain.
In our tours we make stops in those places considered important that visitors should see and we talk about its history, stories or whatever it is that makes it stand out. You visited Plaza de María Pita and there you learned the story behind this heroic woman in front of her statue, about the Roman Torre de Hércules
the oldest lighthouse from 1st century still working nómadas and guiding all ships as well as many other places in the Old Medeival Town of A Coruña during 2 hours.
A Coruña known as the City where no one is a foreigner.

Diego was so knowledgeable and passionate about sharing his hometown with us. We loved his energy, and all of the stories and legends about different the sites he showed us. Learning the history of the city makes it so much more enjoyable to spend time there!

Our guide was so knowledgeable and friendly. She took her time and even had historical. Notebook and pictures to explain the history! We loved our guide - she made out trip to A Codina…so much better than be in a large crowd…we are so happy we booked this tour!
