We had the pleasure of being guided around Nepal by RJ for the food tour. He was extremely knowledgeable about the area, the food was plentiful and guided us to local food areas you wouldn’t find as a tourist. RJ as a person was amazing and a pleasure to be around, his energy along with his laugh was infectious.

Highly recommended. Deepak was my guide. He took me places I never would have experienced without a knowledgeable local as my guide. Outside the tourist area dining in local establishments experiencing dishes I would not have known to try. In addition we had great discussions for the entire tour and a pleasant companionship. 100%
recommended to leave the touristic area to taste and see another side of Kathmandu.

I had an incredible experience on this tour, thanks to my fantastic guide, Kabita. She not only ensured I was comfortable throughout but also took the time to explain the history and significance of each location we visited. Kabita was attentive to my preferences when trying different dishes, which made the tour even more enjoyable. Such an amazing experience. My guide Kabita was awesome. She really took the time to explain all the places we visited and the history of the good. She also made sure I was okay with tasting certain dishes and making sure I was comfortable the whole time. I would recommend this tour to everyone to try. This is a must do for anyone visiting Kathmandu. You visit truely local eateries that would be extremely difficult to find otherwise. Kabita was an amazing guide. She explained all the food and also provided great information regarding Nepalese culture and history which was very informative. Would highly recommend to get her as your guide. I had a wonderful time on the food tour with my guide Kabita. The group was small (just me and one other participant) and the food was excellent. It was so fun seeing the city with a local and trying so many foods. We truly went to numerous (7) spots I would not have found on my own. This food tour inspired me to go on food tours in more cities I visit! My one advice for future participants: eat a small breakfast and go for a big walk before the tour- you want to show up hungry!! There is a lot of food to try.

My husband and I took this food tour on our first day here at Kathmandu, and it was the best thing we did! Our guide is Deepak, he is absolutely AMAZING! He is so easy going, personable and extremely knowledgeable about Nepalese food, but also the culture and history of the place. It was an extraordinary experience for my husband and I with Deepak.
He took us to so many places that we would never been able to find on our own. Altogether 6 places and can’t remember how many different food, all of them are delicious. He explained what they are and how to eat them. These are the places where locals eat, when we told other locals about it, they all told us we went to all the ‘right’ places. The street and alley are a bit tricky around Kathmandu, Deepak helped us navigate around and show us things we see as we walk through the busy areas.
Deepak is very knowledgeable about the history, culture and religions. He answered many of our questions. We both feel we not only got acclimated to the food but learned so much from him about Nepal. It felt like we spent several hours with a friend exploring food, culture and history. Everything was well organized and smooth. What a wonderful experience and we are so grateful for Deepak and for this tour. We highly recommend this tour from Yakthung.

Kabita was so wonderful! It was nice to have a female tour guide since I myself am a solo female traveler. She took me to all the spots local’s actually eat it and gave some real interesting facts about the history of the food and how each meal is made. All the walking is good for all the amazing food you’re gonna eat, so be prepared to eat! Ask Kabita to be your guide!!

This was my first time in Nepal so I went on this food tour and it was absolutely fantastic, and I can't help but rave about it. The standout feature was our amazing guide, Kabita, who brought an incredible level of expertise and enthusiasm to the table.

I had the best experience with Kabita. She took me on a private tour of all the best street food places in Kathmandu; it would have been impossible to find on your own without a local. AMAZING 5 stars! I could not recommend Kabita enough. She told me a lot more than just about the food; she also told me about the history and culture of Hindu and Buddhist culture in Kathmandu. My favourite thing we tried was the lassie and the sweet dishes (I am not sure what they were called, but they were made of rice flour and sugar and honey!) It's better not to eat anything for breakfast as you will eat a lot of food; I was full all night and could not eat dinner.

If there is one thing you must di it Kathmandu, it is this street food tour!! Did it on my first day and was the perfect introduction to the city, culture and food! Deep was amazing. Raj is an amazing guide. He's very knowledgeable and passionate about Nepalese food and culture. He took me to eat all these special, interesting, and staple local foods at different local restaurants and food stands that tourists wouldn't be able to find on their own. He took me to walk around Thamel, Asan and Durbar Square and told me lots of stories and personal takes about these areas as well as Nepal in general. The visits, walking, and eating were paced and organized really well. The whole tour felt like hanging out with a friend. If you are looking for something cultural, this is it! History, culture, and yummy local foods - best combo! And a special shout out to him also to have gone out of his way to cater to my vegan diet and take me to eat everything both local and plant-based. I'm very, very grateful for having done this tour and all the care and fun from Raj.

Rabina took great care of us. She took us inside many local Newari food stands down tightly packed streets and alleys.

Our guide Mai tailored the tour really well for 1 vegetarian and 1 vegan. Went to all these hidden street food gems that we would never have found. Even if we had found them we wouldn’t have known if they were nice or safe to eat. It’s also a great cultural tour as we saw numerous temples, stupas and shrines. He was also very knowledgeable about the politics, sport, history of the places we went to. I would recommend everyone to do this on their first day in the city as it’s a great introduction to newbies.
