Allen!!! Amazing tour guide!!!
I had spent almost 3 weeks trying to find the best version of this trip. After reading ample reviews I settled on this trip and it didn’t disappoint. The accommodation is secure for personal belongings. The food was actually amazing fresh meat salad and rice for each meal!!! And fresh juice each day! The trips were well planned with a decent rest gap between!! Even scary trips like kayaking on the river in darkness I felt safe with our guide. Every time we saw something he knew exactly what it was and showed us the history!!!
A few pointers which I wish I’d of known prior are:
The complaint of cold showers isn’t an issue we were sweating 80% of the time so a cold shower was needed.
The designated room is lockable so all valuables are safe.
The purified water isn’t great so either bring bottled water with you or buy it on site
WiFi between 7am and 10pm in main area only after that there’s no electricity
Bring small change for tribe tips but it isn’t forced
Insects are a battle so bring lots of bug spray

This was a great trip. We did a morning activity then 1pm lunch,afternoon activity then 7pm dinner and then a night walk and next night boat ride. Everything was great

Great experience! Our guide Allen spoke excellent English, enjoyed showing us the Amazon river and jungle and was great at spotting wildlife. The lodge is quite rustic but the staff is attentive and accommodating. Don’t expect to have A/C or a hot shower. It was a wonderful experience overall.

We had an amazing stay! I would highly recommend Amazon Wonder Expeditions. Our guide Luis was amazing: extremely knowledgable and very flexible. We had activity packed days with some protected time to eat and relax. The meals were fantastic - we were fully catered to as vegetarians. All the staff at the lodge were lovely, like a family. We were sad to leave!

It was an amazing journey! Our guid Franco and other members of the lodge are friendly, helpful, foods were great everyday. We didn’t see the sloth but I guess that’s just the nature, you cannot see them everyday. Other than that, everything was amazing.

Everyday you will be immersed in the jungle. It’s impossible to not be surrounded by the sights, sounds, and smells of the environment, including in your net covered cabin.
If you are a lover of wildlife, immersive outdoor experiences, and want an authentic Peruvian Amazon rainforest adventure, this is the tour for you! Our guide, Franco, was very kind, patient, and knowledgeable. His passion for wildlife and the jungle at large is contagious. It was extremely impressive how quickly he could identify and inform us about the Amazon: both flora and fauna. He was happy to answer all our questions while safely and successfully guiding us through the surrounding areas (on foot or by boat) both day and night. He was very fun-spirited, easygoing, and flexible to our needs and interests.
If you are unfamiliar with this type of immersive, hands on experience, I definitely would be prepared for bugs, heat/UV exposure, and remote living quarters (no hot water, no A/C or fans, and limited cellphone service). A portable fan, bug spray, sunscreen, portable phone charger, headlamps, and personal bug nets are recommended but not essential.
We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and drink at the lodge as well. The food was delicious!, and they even have exotic fruits, juices, and cocktails available.
If you can go without your creature comforts and climate controlled living spaces for a few days, you’ll have a truly incredible experience in a truly wild part of the world. We highly recommend this once in a lifetime experience!

All great. Eduardo guide is caring, knowledgeable, and has incredibly good eyes. Just a few notes to watch for: 1) this trip is not exactly private as advertised; you will be combined with a few other people on different days to form a small group excursion; 2) the guide is not necessarily Allen the manager; it may be someone else contracted; 3) the lodge is basic with only cold water to shower and one simple thin sheet to cover when sleep; some nights may be cold and you need to layer up when sleeping; 4) mosquitos are not as bad as expected; 5) there is wifi whenever there is power available; otherwise the LTE signal is almost none.

Its amazing! I would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to experience the Amazon.
Allen is very responsive regarding any questions before the trip. The guide arrived early to pick us up from the hotel. The lodge was basic but clean, spacious and comfortable, there was coffee/ water/tea offered always. There was towels, shampoo and soap. The food was great, meat, salad, dessert. The banana cup cake was amazing and we finished all of them.
Allen was very attentive, and took very good care of us. Overall I enjoyed it.

This amazon adventure was absolutely everything we hoped for and so much more. Allen is a fantastic guide and very attentive/informative both before and during the trip which is a big help. The lodge we stayed at was much bigger than expected and the meals were great with a variety of options at each meal. It also had an amazing starlink internet service that was better than a lot of hotels we've stayed at. They even provided gum boots which became everyone's new favorite accessory. The trip had a variety of activities which made me and my friend happy as we got to see more then we originally expected without being overwhelmed. The jungle treks were exciting with different animals in each place at different times of day. We also loved piranha fishing more than expected with it being an absolute highlight. Allen was also an expert animal/insect spotter which lead to us seeing the ones we're excited about but also a lot we never knew about. If I come back I would definitely use this company as they really listen to what we needed to make our trip perfect.

Amazon Wonder Expeditions gave us the best experience we could have hoped for. We did the 3D/2N tour, and if you are overwhelmed by all the different options for tour operators (like we were), the let it be all-caps-clear: THIS IS IT.
We were on our honeymoon through South America, and by the time we were booking our Amazon tour our budget had shrunken quite a bit. We were kinda bummed out we didn't have more to spend to make it more "luxurious" or whatever, which in hindsight is one of the stupidest thoughts I've ever had.
I don't think I've experienced more value for money in my life. Our lovely guide Luis, a personal cook (wonderful Rosa) and our own boatman Oscar - all for just the two of us. Everything included; lodging, three meals a day with fresh juices (different for each meal!), entry fees, boots, pick up/drop off - all and everything, except alcohol and soda.
There sure is a jungle (pun intended) of tour operators out there, and it's kinda stressful to pick the "right" one. It seems to me now that they mostly offer the same thing; fishing piranhas, night tour, monkey island, scouting for dolphins blabla. Here's couple of things that seems to set Amazon Wonder apart:
- Entry fee to the real Monkey Island included in the tour (this is a must - it was a great experience, and be wary of operators that don't have this explicitly listed if you want to go. We met people that were taken to a fake one, and it was reeeeeeal_badman.gif).
- Black water river tour, where you get to see another part of the Amazon; a much smaller river with different wildlife and the local community way closer.
- A guide that cares for the jungle, both its wildlife and community.
Now to the longer version. I'm so excited I'll probably break the Viator site with this.
PEOPLE
First and foremost our guide Luis. Born in a small river village on the Amazon and with 30 years experience in guiding? You need to look hard for a more seasoned guide. His keen eye catches about everything of significance both on the jungle floor and in the trees. If you are interested in birds, this is the tour for you. Luis sees them all, and the tour includes a trip down a blackwater river that houses some birds you won't see where the other tour operators go. Luis is a genuinely good man with a heart that beats for the jungle; the animals and their ways, the craziness of deforestation, the impact of climate change on the jungle etc.
Rosa, our cook, added a unique dimension to our tour with her meals. Using ingredients that were sourced in the region, she created dishes that really connected us to the plants and animals we'd just seen. Dining became an extension of our guided tour, enhancing our understanding of the local culture through her cooking.
Oscar the legend. That feeling of pride you get when your boat looks the best among the tour operators (don't get me wrong; it's real rustic, but very well-kept) and the satisfaction when your boat slides perfectly to shore among all the others? It's all Oscar.
LODGE
The lodge is very rural and you shouldn't expect anything other than a very authentic jungle experience. With a power generator that's only used a couple of hours a day, a very warm climate and the simplest of interior a faint-hearted person probably won't be satisfied. For us though, it was perfect; we got to fall asleep to the sound of the jungle as if we were sleeping on the ground outside and wake up to the sound of roosters and the break of dawn. There was no connection or internet, which made it double up as a digital retreat (Luis said they've now gotten a Starlink for future groups - which is great, but I'd recommend against using it if I were you). We were snobby enough to use our silk-pouches for sleeping in though; mostly due to insects - the room was not free of them - as well as the warmth and feeling of hygiene. I'd recommend bringing one.
ALL IN ALL
I'd recommend Amazon Wonder. I think I made that clear, no?
Bring mosquito repellent, sunscreen, silk pouches, cash (for beers and sodas at the lodge), head lamp and binoculars (the last two I borrowed from them free of charge, which is super kind, but if your group is bigger than ours you'd want more). Enjoy.

Allan! What can't I say. This trip was detailed, organized, exciting, informative, and so much fun. An experience of a lifetime. Our tour guide and owner Allan is an actual expert. His passion and knowledge was humbling. He was also flexible, as we woke up late for our Jungle walk. The excursions, such as bird watching, monkey sightings, watching river dolphins, swimming in the Amazon, playing with monkeys, and of course visiting the locals we're far beyond expectation. The food was right from the jungle and home cooked by women from a local village- it was the best we have ever had. So fresh and much needed after the heavy food from the coast, actually relieved my stomach issues. We witnessed the most amazing wildlife and were deeply impacted. My wife and I are already planning a longer more in depth expedition with Allan. He is born and raised in the area and all of our trips were to the benefit of the local economy. I won't share all the detail to leave some surprise- but don't look further book this trip.

I highly recommend this tour as every moment was amazing in 3 days of full schedule!
Luis and Allen do a great job to make you feel fully satisfied with everything.
The lodge we stayed was great; the room, the dining area, the atmosphere were all beyond my expectations. My room was fully surrounded with mosquito nets so I was so relaxed in the room away from any bites but still feeling at the heart of jungle sounds. Every meal at the lodge was so rich and very tasty. I am vegetarian and in most of the tours I have difficulty having good and appropriate food that I can eat. This tour was the best in my life in terms of food variety and taste.
Luis and Allen made me feel home although we were in the middle of wild jungle!
They are very knowledgeable, fluent in English and explained everything I asked in detail.
You can see how passionate they are about Amazon region; communities and its natural habitat.
They are always in a very positive and professional attitude that make you feel that you are in good hands. Although I was travelling by myself, I felt so much safe in every location and moment.
At the end of 3 full of activity days, I was fully satisfied with my experience of Amazon; pink dolphins, amazing bird types, unique plants, otherworldly monkeys and sloths, indigenous tribe and other river people, so many jungle animals that we explored during the walks day&night!
I can't wait to come back again with my friends to explore deeper in the jungle with them.

Traveled with my 27 year old son and after having hiked for the previous three weeks in altitude it was very nice to to spend some time in the amazon. Louis our tour guide, called us upon our arrival in Iquatus at our hotel and arranged pick-up the following day From there he looked after all of our needs and was very flexible on our activities. After having traveled throughout Peru we found it challenging to find good good food but this was not an issue.

Fue un viaje inolvidable. A pesar de que hacía 10 años que no había una crecida de Río de esta magnitud…el guía, el equipo de las cabañas, los lancheros fueron increíbles. Nos hicieron visitas de día y de noche, siempre seguros y super interesantes.
