We went on a brilliant tour of Marlon’s neighbourhood – Belén. The tour included the Upper Market, the Lower Market and a boat trip past the floating houses along the river.
Marlon has lived there for a long time and knows his way round. He showed us all the products on offer at the market. The Shaman Market, with all its natural remedies, was particularly interesting.
We always felt very safe with Marlon. All the journeys to and from the boulevard by motorbike taxi were superbly organised. Highly recommended.
Be open-minded and enjoy the ride. Macron was very knowledgeble local guide originally from the amazon. Highly recommend
Our Belen Market tour was one of the highlights of our trip to Peru. The market is fascinating, vibrant, and full of local culture. Our guide, Marlon, was outstanding—knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about sharing the history and traditions of the area. He made the experience both informative and enjoyable, helping us discover parts of the market we would never have appreciated on our own. Highly recommended!

Booked last minute and no regrets. Was an afternoon tour so most likely missed most of the action but unfortunately I was restricted with timing. Markets were a bit of an eye opener for a foreigner but that’s why we travel. Marlon was great. Kept it interesting and gave plenty of explanations. Kids swimming in the rain next to the guy piranha fishing whilst parked up under a church to wait out the rain - definitely don’t find that at home 🤩
Our guide, Marlon, was so knowledgeable and pointed out so many things any tourist would miss. He knew the market and the people, inside and out. We tried various local fruit, nuts, and meats and learned a lot about local way of life. Don’t make the mistake of trying to go by yourself, get a guide like Marlon!
Belén market is very interesting, but I wouldn’t recommend it without a guide! Marlon was a great guide and he really showed us everything - we could even try some local delicacies and rapé!
Marlon was very well informed and you can tell he knows people at the market and have a long personal relationship with them. I was there alone with my 3 kids and it felt safe. I would definetly recommend him.

We could have never navigated this market without a guide and Marlon with his good English skills and superb knowledge of the market and its people introduced us to the wonders of the Amazon.
Marlon was an excellent guide. He is from the area and knows the market inside and out. He speaks English well and took the time to explain the different fish, meat, vegetables, fruits, natural medicines and shamanic items. He also bought fruits for me to taste. The market was a chaotic warren but fascinating. I was so glad Marlon was there to help guide me as I wouldn’t want to do this on my own. The boat ride through the floating village was also great. He took me to his home which was a humbling experience. All in all this was an unforgettable experience. Gracias, Marlon!
Tour offered great variety. Marlon is SUPER knowledgeable about Iquitos and the Jungle and we appreciated learning so much from him.
Absolutely great experience! Our guides were real locals and it was very interesting to walk through the market listening their stories and explanations. The tour included some tastings, motortaxi ride and boat tour as well - all great!

Marlon is very well informed about the market and introduced to a variety of goods which are unique to the Amazon region. It was an educational as an eye-opening experience.
Marlon was an excellent tour guide! He guided us around the market, making sure to stop and explain what was on display for most of the stalls we passed by. He was extremely patient with our questions and allowed us to sample some of the food that was on display. Our visit to the floating city took us to his house. It was eye-opening and changed some of my worldview. Don’t sleep on this tour, it’ll change your perception on a lot of different things.
If I could rate this experience an 20/10, I would. Marlon is an amazing/incredible tour guide, he literally handles everything for you, all you have to do is enjoy. His English is excellent, is very accommodating, and is very knowledgeable about the area.
I was planning on going to Belen Market by myself and I’m so glad I didn’t bc I wouldn’t have been able to without his guidance. He knows everything regarding Iquitos and the Belen market. I had a life changing experience to and made memories that will last me a lifetime. Thank you Marlon!

This was the best tour ever!!!! Marlo does an amazing job taking you through an area you would not want to navigate without a local. He allows you to try local foods, experiences and more. You get to ride on local transportation- both on the street and on water. Unreal experience.

We had an excellent tour with Marlon - he walked us through the Belen market which would have been overwhelming without him! He gave us a lot of information about the products for sale as well as cultural and historical tips. We tried several food items and he was very careful to share only what was safe for our stomachs! He ensured we were well stocked with cold water as well. In addition to the market, we took a boat out to the floating and stilted homes. As an added bonus, we got to meet our guide’s wife and daughter in the market. Marlon also does great volunteer work supporting his community. Highly recommend you spend time with him learning about Iquitos.

You can see the real life in Belen, eat street food and buy some home made elixirs for your health. Trip also includes short boat trip.
A brilliant tour with Marlon who is incredibly kind, knowledgeable and clearly highly respected within the community. We learnt so much in the time we spent with him, not only about the market, the food, and the floating city, but most importantly about the people of Belen in what is a truly unique and focal part of Iquitos. This tour is a must-do for anyone looking to get a true cultural experience - it had a huge impact on us - and Marlon is the best guide you could ever wish to have to walk and talk you through it. The market was unbelievable, and our local guide was very informative. The boat ride of the floating city was awesome! Our guide lived there and he even invited us into his house!
Marlon was an excellent tour guide. We had such fun with him, touring Belen Market , which is crazy in comparison to the US.. Tuk Tuks dominate the streets (and actually got us to the start of the tour), and items for sale were so interesting and different. Then he took us in a small motor boat to view the houses on the water, and even gave us a quick tour of one, which made us feel like we belonged. Growing up in the Amazon and living in Iquitos, Marlon knew a lot of people and showed us things and places we never would have seen otherwise, dealing with locals to get us from one place to the next. There’s not a lot of English speakers in Iquitos. This tour is not just about seeing things. To us, it was the opportunity to learn and interact with the locals by being with a local. Thank you, Marlon for spending the time with us. We will never forget it.
