Kelwin gave us an excellent experience and memorable end to our trip. He is thoughtful, knowledgable and showed us the market but as well imparted a feeling of the market, the people of Belen, the area and how the river is part of daily life. This really added to our cultural understanding of the area as well as eye opening to the size of the market and it wares. A true highlight of an amazing trip.
I flew into Iquitos early in the morning for this tour. Kelwin met me at the airport and took me on an exceptional, very eye-opening tour of this amazing place. We visited the Belen Markets, took a boat ride through the Venice of Loreto, and finally took a boat out to the Amazon River. Afterward, Kelwin saw that I got safely back to the airport for my late afternoon flight back to Lima.
Kelwin was an excellent guide! He was patient, knowledgeable, and very kind, especially as I was a solo traveler experiencing rather significant mobility issues during my trip.
Belen is not for the faint of heart! There were sights and smells that were disquieting, to say the least. The poverty is astounding. This is not a place to visit on your own. Thanks to Kelwin, Iquitos and the Amazon can be experienced without fear of getting lost, missing something culturally important, or being pickpocketed.
