Day trip to Luxor

Derek_Y, Mar 2026
Pick up delayed & after being driven to another location & having to wait another 25 minutes for the coach journey to Luxor took 5 hours from pick up one stop & the toilet attendant wanted 1 dollar or you wasn’t allowed to use the toilet. the whole day was very rushed at all the historic sites & poor communication as the guide spoke mainly to the french in our party & as we were the only english very little lunch stop was dirty & not very nice would have preferred to have more time at the historical sites & not stop at the alabaster factory & boat trip to banana island

Liars. Do Not Use, Did not turn up.

Liars! Do NOT book. 4 a. m pick to Luxor. Went to sleep early and no one turned up for pick. They left a voice message saying Friday is a busy day in Luxor, would you like to rearrange? . I phoned and sent What'sapp message, no reply. SCAMMERS, Liars! DON'T USE!

Incredible!

We had done Cairo a few days before so the coach journey to Luxor did not seem so long, I think it probably worked out as 3.5/4 hours with one toilet stop. We had a designated English tour guide who joined the coach as we got close, he told us a bit about himself and his qualifications and began telling us all about the history of where we were going and the plan for the day. Every stop was incredible to see, though note that it was also extremely hot! There was an option at one point to pay £10 to go on a boat on the nile to banana island or stay on the other side for 1.5 hours. We went to the island and tried some of their fruit which was lovely though felt like a little bit of a time filler. They also had a few animals on the island but they were kept in extremely small enclosures which was very difficult to see so we went back to sit on the boat. The tour guide was brilliant and extremely knowledgeable. He was always ensuring everyone was OK and knew people's names, keeping track of everyone at all times.

Tour was amazing, however the food and stop off on the boat not so much.

We really enjoyed the day however we both nearly got heatstroke even though we had plenty of water, cream and hats. I would advise to take a portable fan and large hat as it was VERY hot with little shade. The tour felt a little rushed however I appreciate there is a lot to get in in one day. The guide was knowledgable and friendly and tried to give us time in the shade where possible. We loved the valley of the kings and wished we had longer on this section rather than others. The 3 parts that let down the tour were: - people asking for tips, this was the worst we found it all holiday! There were people waiting outside the coach to try and sell items as well as in little markets you need to walk through to get to the main attractions. We found saying ‘no money’ or fully ignoring them worked. We also witnessed a few workers from the bazaar throwing stones at young children who were pestering the visitors (I understand the children shouldn’t have been there asking for food or money however we found this approach appalling - some were only 4/5 years old) - the buffet, the food was cold and dry we were also hassled by sales people at the table. We both were sick the next day aswell even though we only drank bottled water and no ice, we are assuming this was a combination of the heat and the food. - the boat ride / mini zoo. We strongly disliked this section, the boat ride was lovely and we were told we would see crocodiles which we expected to be on an island on the Nile or in the reeds however this was not the case. We made a stop off the boat onto a banana farm which was great however further down we were taken to a mini zoo. The crocodile was in the smallest enclosure being poked with a stick so it would bite and the monkeys were being placed on people’s shoulder then asked for money- they also had an awful enclosure. Our advice would be to skip the boat tour and avoid the awful animal mistreatment at the mini zoo. The rest of the tour however was great and the driver and guide could do nothing more! These 3 things didn’t ruin the day for us and it was still worthwhile to see the sights.

Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback regarding your recent experience with us. We truly appreciate your honesty and are pleased to hear that, despite the challenges, you found the tour worthwhile and enjoyed significant highlights like the Valley of the Kings. We also value your kind words about our guide and driver, who strive to ensure a positive experience for all guests. We are, however, genuinely sorry to hear about the issues you encountered. Please allow us to address each of your concerns: Heat and Comfort: We understand how difficult the heat can be during certain parts of the year, and we truly appreciate your suggestion regarding a portable fan and larger hat. We'll make sure to inform future guests about the extreme temperatures and the importance of extra precautions to ensure their comfort during the tour. Rushed Itinerary: Your point about the pace of the tour is noted. While we aim to cover as much as possible within the day, we will evaluate the balance of time spent at each attraction to allow for more leisure and enjoyment, especially at key spots like the Valley of the Kings. Requests for Tips and Market Sellers: We sincerely regret the discomfort caused by persistent sellers and tipping requests. Unfortunately, this is an ongoing challenge at popular tourist destinations, but we will take additional measures to brief our guests on how to handle these situations while ensuring a smoother, less intrusive experience. Buffet and Food Safety: We are deeply sorry that the buffet did not meet expectations and that you experienced discomfort afterward. Food safety is our top priority, and we will immediately address this issue with the restaurant management to ensure higher standards in both food quality and service. Boat Ride & Mini Zoo: We are equally disappointed to learn about your experience at the mini zoo. Animal welfare is something we take seriously, and we do not condone mistreatment in any form. Your feedback has been forwarded to the relevant team, and we will be reassessing this part of the tour to ensure that all activities are in line with ethical and responsible tourism practices. We are considering removing or modifying this segment to reflect our commitment to animal welfare. We truly appreciate your constructive feedback, as it helps us improve our services. We’re glad that the issues you encountered did not overshadow your overall experience, and we’re committed to making the necessary changes to ensure future guests have an even better experience. Thank you again for choosing us, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back and provide a more seamless experience next time. #Travex_Tour
