Overview
Trek across a magnificent glacier on this tour of one of Iceland’s natural treasures. The adventure starts at the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon, where you’ll meet your guide and receive instruction on how to walk on glaciers. You’ll then make your way by super jeep to the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier, where you’ll take an 4-6 km hike across the ice.

- Travelers should have a moderate physical fitness level
- Participants must be able to fit safety gear: helmet, harness, and minimum shoe size 35
- Wear comfortable, warm, yet breathable waterproof clothing and hiking boots. Wear hiking boots that cover your ankles and offer good ankle support.
- Important: We offer rain pants, rain jackets, and hiking boots for rental at the meeting point. If you are not properly dressed, you may be required to rent gear from us or, in extreme cases, be denied participation for safety reasons. Our cancellation policy will apply in such cases.
- The harness sizes is can be adjusted to maximum 126cm.

Amazing glacier hike! Our tour guide was passionate about teaching us the transitions and changes the glacier goes through. We had the chance of seeing a few beautiful mini ice caves that were formed and drink glacier water. I highly recommend this tour for the range of things you get to see and experience!

Although the weather was extremely rainy, foggy and cloudy, our guide was able to give us a great experience with a lot of interesting information about the glacier. The crampons we connected to our boots made ice walking really easy! There were plenty of stops to make going up the glacier not seem as daunting. Each stop was even more interesting and beautiful than the last. Our last stop took us down into a small ice cave where the blue ice made our jaws drop…a great place for pictures! We experienced a tiny taste of ice climbing and even took a drink of pure Icelandic water! The super-jeep ride was something we all thought was a cool experience in addition to the glacier hike. Overall, we loved our glacier hike!

This adventure was above our expectations. We were extremely impressed with our guide, Matthew. He was both knowledgeable and passionate about the glacier. This tour is adventurous and strenuous at times but well worth it.

We enjoyed the hike very much. Our guide (5Aug, 12 noon tour) is very humorous & professional. Due to my knee issues, he has especially taken care of me and encourage me to go on and don't give up. I would recommend the tour with him to all my love ones &.friends coming to iceland.

As amazing as the vatmajokull glacier is; the experience was made ven more special bu our guide. He took his time and was very patient with my kids and helped them out during the glacier hike. Very knowledgeable about the area & provided useful insights about icelandic history and the volcanoes. The "superjeep" is something you have to see to understand the scale of these things! And this operator has one of a kind custom rigs (only 4 exist in the world and they all were constructed for them. Awesome experience, must do and highly recommend them as they are a smaller operators for a more personalized small group trip.
