A full day in Tasmania

William_T, Feb 2026
Very complete I day tour of Tasmania west coast near Port Author. The guide was very knowledgeable about Tasmania in general, and the days it was a penal colony. The walk along the coast was spectacular. Our visit to the non-zoo was great. We saw birds, Tasmanian devils, kangaroos and wallabies. We had a nice glass wine in Richmond. Our guide entertained us throughout the drive with historical facts, and conservation activities protecting nature in Tasmania.

Memorable Moments In Australia's History As well as The Famous Tassie Devils Feeding Freezy.

Tassie

Monica_J, Jan 2026
Seeing the Tasmanian Devils up close was an experience. The Tasman arch and the sea coast was superb. We stopped in Richmond for a quick stop which to me either needed more time or not stop at all and add that 30 minutes elsewhere

Response from Host, Jan 2026

My fiancé and I did this...

Chris_B, Nov 2025
My fiancé and I did this trip together and we both thought the tour was a great way to cover off some of the key attractions outside of the Hobart CBD. Port Arthur was really interesting to visit and I even managed to feed the kangaroos and Tassie devils for the first time! Ian was a great tour guide and was very knowledgeable and very professional in his presentations

Response from Host, Nov 2025

Happy and safe travels. The Tours Tasmania Team.

An Good Excursion with an Excellent Driver / Guide.

Tess_d, Oct 2025
The driver/ Tour Guide , Nicholas was very well informed and friendly. There were 15 of us on that tour and he took time to answer any questions. His instructions were clear and he took all the efforts to eliminate any further walking ir efforts on the part of the tourists. I highly recommend Nicholas as a driver and tour guide. He was a very careful driver and a very knowledgeable tour guide. My husband and I were very pleased to have him for the tour.

Emotional & Interesting. Good learning opportunity

GE_N, Sep 2025
Really impressive experoence at port arthur. Our guide made a huge effort on route to tell us all about the historie so that when we got to the historic site. We would already have a background on this place. Its a huge mental contrast to see this now beautiful place compared to the suffering and horror. Very worth coming here and learning about this place. Also loved the viewpoints our guide brought us too. The nice hike (we spotted a wild wallaby) and the unzoo. The tasmanian devils were beautiful and fun to watch. Learned a lot from the parkguide too. Sadly for us the wild birds decided it was not a good day to show up but we did spot a few in the trees. Very good vibe from this park. Would recommend this trip and to get some ice cream from the sweet shop in richmond. Maybe the best ive ever had!

Port Arthur is beautiful but ithe Devils are the best

Chris_W, Sep 2025
There is a lot of history and beautiful nature to see on the peninsula but a chance to see Tasmanian Devils feeding is amazing

Walking from Rainbow Bay to Tasman Arch was fabulous!

Kathy_T, Sep 2025
We started today with a beautiful walk along the south shore of Tasmania. Coastal Cliffs walk from Waterfall Bay to Tasman Arch. Every overlook was another beautiful view! The Unzoo was unique. Only kangaroos and Tasmanian Devils are confined. That makes all the other animals difficult to find or see. Port Arthur was a disappointment. The area is not restored in any way, it's just empty half-buildings. Ben, out guide, was very soft spoken and I missed 80% of what he said. Richmond was a dud, unnecessary stop.

Port Arthur and Tassie Devil Sanctuary.

Mark_W, Aug 2025
A lot in one day. The side-trip to walk the cliff tops in the Tasmania National Park was an unexpected bonus. Tassie Devil sanctuary is great in concept and needs continued investment to achieve its vision. Port Arthur, despite its history, was more inspiring than expected. Richmond, our final stop of the day, was charming and we could have spent longer there.

Long day, might have...

Donna_J, Jul 2025
Long day, might have needed more time at some places than others depending on your preferences for the places visited

Port Arthur ,Richmond and unzoo

Emma_B, Jul 2025
A really enjoyable trip David our tour guide provided us with loads of information and stories. The unzoo was an amazing place see ing the tassie devils was a real highlight Walking around port arthur was a moving experience would recommend the trip

Lovely day out

Wendy_P, Jul 2025
We liked the trip the guide was really knowledgeable and helpful. Port Arthur was interesting and the coastal route was beautiful. Would have like more time at Unzoo as this felt rushed. Also not sure what the stop at Richmond adds to the trip.

Great Day

Diana_H, Jul 2025
This is a great tour with tons of stops and activities! Our guide Peter was very informative and helpful and friendly!

Memorable day

isabelle_l, Jun 2025
Wonderful tour with knowledgeable guide, valiable activities and diverse visits Enjoyed the landscapes and animal’s discoveried while hiking easily along the coast. Took amazing pics.

Worth it if you can't drive. Very accessible and fun!

Jett_R, Jun 2025
An unforgettable experience! It was really cool to see so many things in one day. :) I can't drive, so this is a really accessible way to see cool things outside of Hobart while still relatively being in walking distance to the visitor center. The option of hotel pickup is a godsend. The host was extremely knowledgeable and very passionate. Would do it again with more friends!

Up Close with Animals.

Butch_L, Apr 2025
Well worth the money. Got to get up close with kangaroos and just close enough with Tasmanian Devils. Port Arthur was very interesting but needed more time there.

Wonderful busy day....

Gilles_G, Apr 2025
Wonderful busy day. Enjoyed the hike along the coastal cliffs in the morning, seeing feeding of Tasmanian Devil at the Unzoo and visit at the historic Port Arthur prison and stop in Richmond. Our guide was wonderful and provided a lot of useful information.

Richmond port Arthur Tassie devils

Kelly_R, Mar 2025
Was a great tour but wish we had more time in Richmond. We got there at 4:55pm due to a tyre blowout. Shops close at 4:40/5pm. Would prefer less time on other parts to get a minimum of an hr in Richmond. Thnx

Amazing race friends teip

Joanne_R, Mar 2025
Ian our guide was amazingly knowledgeable entertaining and friendly. The early morning hike was a little taxing for seniors like me with some mobility issues but overall it was a wonderful tour.

Highly recommend

diane_f, Mar 2025
Ben our driver was informative with a sense of humor. It was a long day but extremely worth it. The wasn’t anything Ben didn’t know about the Tasman National Park, Port Arthur, Tassie Devils and the Lavender Ice cream at Richmond.

Fantastic Day - Must do trip!

Aimee_J, Mar 2025
Firstly, Lucas our tour guide was fantastic, he was clearly very knowledgeable about the areas we visited and even offered recommendations for meals and activities after the trip! The day started with a visit to Tasman Peninsula, this does include a bit of a walk and this was hilly in places but the walk is about 1.5km and was suitable for the mix of ages within the group! The views in this area were stunning! We then went to the Unzoo which was a fantastic experience of feeding kangaroos, watching the devils be fed and the staff at the Unzoo were great too! We the headed over to Port Arthur and spent the afternoon there before a quick visit to Richmond!

Well worth it!

Arunab_M, Jan 2025
Amazing experience; the tour operator Nick was great, he talked to us about the history of all the parts of the trip even while driving to give us some perspective on what we were about to see in the form of stories and anecdotes.

Day trip to Port Arthur and Tassie devils was amazing

Anthony_H, Dec 2024
Our driver David was amazing . He gave us so much information about Tasmania as well as info about the places we were going to visit . I thought the tour was expensive , but afterwards felt that it was good value .....we would not have seen so much or learnt so much if we had driven by ourselves .

Perfect day. 10/10 recommend

Sadie_K, Nov 2024
Spectacular day. 10/10 recommend. We had an absolute blast. The morning walk at Tasman National Park was beautiful. Perfect weather, beautiful sunny day. Nice breeze. It’s about a 45 minute walk on a nice marked trail with beautiful views over the ocean. We saw a wild wallaby on our walk! So neat. Amazing views of the Tasmans Arch and Devil’s Kitchen (rock formations). We then had a short drive to the Tasmanian Devil Unzoo. So cool! A can’t miss spot. If I was driving in my own, I could have spent hours here! but I think we had about an hour and a half (I could be wrong). We walked in and immediately were escorted back by a guide to the kangaroos in the back where we got to feed them and take pictures with them! Some even had babies in their pouches! The guide told us all about them. What’s nice is they are left to roam on their own. No cages! We then headed over to watch the Tassie devil feeding. It’s amazing. They’re so cute but so ferocious. We learned so much about them from the guide. We don’t get to feed them or touch them however (they bite haha)r. But you do get a pretty close look. And you can hear them screaming at each other! We got some incredible pics and videos. We were then ushered over to a wild bird feeding. They ring a bell and the wild birds come flying in and you can feed them seeds! They will land right in your hand! Beautiful birds. I LOVED this stop. As well as the idea of the “unzoo”. We then headed over to Port Arthur Historic site. You get 3 hours here “ish”. But if you want to see everything, you really have to hurry. If you’re a huge history buff and are really interested in listening and reading everything, 3 hours is not enough time. A lot of the sites are spread out along the property. But I was able to book it around and see most of the buildings. They do offer some guided tours at an additional cost, but we weren’t able to take one because they were all fulll. You could potentially book one ahead of time (through the port Arthur site) if you knew exactly what time you will be in Port Arthur. It is a little bit, breezy down near the water, so bring a jacket depending on the season. And the Tasmanian son is unforgiving, so if you were there in the summer, make sure to bring a hat and sunscreen. There is a ton of walking on this. Inside the visitor center, there is a café with a good amount of food to buy lunch. And snacks as well there was a lot of good choices. It was not busy when we were there (November 11), but I have heard during the busy summer months that lines for food can be very long. On the way home, we drove by an old convict built, bridge or some pictures. Then stopped in the town of Richmond for about 45 minutes. Enough time to get some ice cream and wander around. There are some shops or you could maybe get a sandwich or a grazing board if you are hungry before your drive back to Hobart. Long day but with plenty of rest. We had a blast. I would definitely recommend. There is no WiFi or charging ports on the bus. Bring a power bank if you have one. However, we had cell reception most of the time. So if you pay for international data, you should be fine.

Devilish treat to visit charming Tassie!

DONNA_R, Oct 2024
Viewing those Tasmanian Devils was a special treat! Port Arthur was a bit soggy in the rain but we glimpsed a pendemelon on the grounds. Boat trip was well received by all.

Amazing

YennyMarcela_M, Oct 2024
I loved the tour, I loved every stage, every view, I enjoyed the landscapes in Port Arthur and the kindness of the guide. Everything was very organized. I recommend it.
