Overview
Explore the volcano Eldfell and the coast of Heimaey Island on this small group ATV tour. YOur guide will show you all around the island and show you all it has to offer. You’ll visit Prestvik beach and hear the story of how the islands were founded. You’ll also have some spectacular views. Each ATV can seat two, and are not difficult to drive. But each driver must hold a driver’s licence.

Please be at our location about 20 - 30 minutes before scheduled departure time. We are just 2-3 min walk from the ferry Herjólfur. Just walk straight up from Herjólfur, we are at the corner at Strandvegur 65.

Great with kids they ride with their parents. Saw the lava fields and learned some history about the island. Had great weather but was told that most of the time the island will get rain making for more mud but they give you suits for this.

This was a great way to see the area and to learn about the volcano that hit the island in the 1970s! The tour guide was great and very informative - she even offered to take photos for families so everyone could be in the picture. We'd love for it to be longer so we could have seen more of the island!

Our tour guild was so friendly and even helped take pictures for us to capture our experience. She was funny and knowledgeable which made the excursion even better. I can't believe we were driving through a volcano. It's a birthday experience I will never forget. The views from the top were truly beautiful.

Johanna is an excellent guide: patient, caring, instructive, informative and knowledgeable. She led our ATV group safely and at reasonable speeds for ATV beginners traversing challenging terrain over volcanic trails and 4x4 back roads. We stopped at a few picturesque sites for photos, and she was happy to take family photos for sharing.

One of the best experiences we have been on. Our tour guide Mar was lovely and very knowledgeable on the whole island. She really made the tour and gave us valuable information which we used for the whole island. The tour was a lot of fun and amazing to drive right over the volcano.

This is a beginner level tour. If you are looking for putting an ATV through its paces you may want to do a different tour. The views were fantastic and unique. Definitely worth the time. The ATV’s themselves are well used with a few having to be swapped out before we could get going. May be time to start thinking about replacement vehicles. The employees were great at assisting with getting everyone into properly fitting coveralls, helmets and gloves. Very personable and willing to help with anything we needed.

This was the best part of our weeklong trip to Iceland! Mar was our guide for our 10AM ATV tour, which ended up being a “private tour” since our group were the only ones there! She was the BEST. She led us on a great tour, took so many photos, and shared stories and history of the island. The gear (jumpsuits, helmets, and gloves) were perfect to keep us warm in the chilly/drizzling weather. The sights were epic. This is an absolute must do when in the Westman Islands!

The tour guide was very nice to wait for us. We did NOT realize that the tour was in an island and needed to tk a 40 min ferry there and back to tk the tour!! We didn’t allot time for that.. once there, it was only us.. the tour guide was almost condescending in his directions. My husband rides motorcycles and we explained that ATV’s were easy riding to him and he continued to baby use through the entire ride. It was boring. We never went fast. It was not an adventure ride at all. He was very informative about the island and told stories about the various spots we stopped at but I felt like we stopped 4x in a matter of an hour ride n didn’t really ride that much of get any adrenaline rush AT ALL! If you want a leisure ride on an island w some history thrisn in. This is your tour. But I was looking for some fun.

Thank you for taking the time out to write us a review. Just for a clarification, our tour is not and has never been a fast driving adrenaline tour where you go out with all guns blazing. We focus on driving around the volcanic area where we have few stops to tell people interesting stories about each location.
It's our tour guide's responsibility to keep everybody safe and sound through the tour and we can never allow people to go all out fast adrenaline driving just because they have experience riding motorcycles, that would most certainly discomfort everybody else and put themselves and others in danger. Most of our clients have little or no experience riding ATV´s and nearly no one has experience driving in a volcanic landscape so for them and others it is always safety first and from there the enjoyment, thrills and so much fun comes when driving the automatic ATV´s while also learning something interesting about the island.

Visiting the summit of the volcano was fun as well as the ride. We just wish it had lasted a little longer. The h Young woman who was our guide was friendly and energetic but also made sure everyone was safe. Excellent person to lead us.

I had purchased our tickets for the 4pm tour on Friday 7/5, but soon realized that I had made a mistake and the last tender was going back to our ship at 5PM.
Knowing that all the tours that day had been listed as being sold out, I approached the gentleman (didn't get his name) at the front desk about trying to get into some other tour.
He couldn't have been more helpful, pleasant and professional to deal with. He got us in the 12PM tour. The tour and Guide (didn't get her name) was AWESOME! Highly recommend!

Seeing the volcanoes and riding an ATV for the first time. The suites and gloves were a nice surprise. Glad we had them to keep warm and protect our clothes from the dust. I would do this ride again!
