Overview
Explore the volcano Eldfell and the coast of Heimaey Island on this small group ATV tour. YOur guide will show you all around the island and show you all it has to offer. You’ll visit Prestvik beach and hear the story of how the islands were founded. You’ll also have some spectacular views. Each ATV can seat two, and are not difficult to drive. But each driver must hold a driver’s licence.

Please be at our location about 20 - 30 minutes before scheduled departure time. We are just 2-3 min walk from the ferry Herjólfur. Just walk straight up from Herjólfur, we are at the corner at Strandvegur 65.

Great experience and got some amazing photos. The guides are knowledgeable and give loads of history and information. Just know it is a pass by the volcano and you do not go to the top. Mid base but with amazing views!!!!

A 2 hour tour by ATV was a perfect way to experience this beautiful island. Puffins, volcanoes, coastline with the thrill of a 4-wheeler. No experience necessary!

Recommendation; make an extended version and go see the Puffin colony. Riding these ATV’s is so much fun; these extra Miles and seeing puffins would do really good!

Victoria was an excellent guide—thorough, knowledgeable, and incredibly helpful throughout the experience. We loved seeing the puffins and then riding ATVs around the volcano. She shared fascinating local history about the area and kindly took several photos of our group. It was a fun and memorable day that everyone thoroughly enjoyed.

Unfortunately the ferry to the island was cancelled and we had no way to do the tour. Messaged the operator and didn’t get a response.

We’re very sorry that the ferry cancellation prevented you from joining the tour, and we completely understand how frustrating that situation must have been.
As your booking was made through a third-party provider, we only received the phone number connected to the reservation and did not have access to an email address. When you had not arrived for the scheduled tour, our guide attempted to contact you by phone on the day of the tour and again the following day, and a voicemail was also left, but unfortunately we did not receive a response.
Although cancellations made within 24 hours of departure are normally non-refundable under the booking policy, we fully understood that the ferry cancellation was outside of both your and our control. Once the refund request was processed through the third-party booking platform, we approved and issued a 100% refund immediately.
We always aim to provide the best possible service to our guests and are sorry that, due to the review being posted shortly after the scheduled tour, we had little opportunity to communicate and resolve the matter beforehand. We sincerely wish you had been able to experience the tour itself and truly appreciate your feedback.

Great with kids they ride with their parents. Saw the lava fields and learned some history about the island. Had great weather but was told that most of the time the island will get rain making for more mud but they give you suits for this.

This was a great way to see the area and to learn about the volcano that hit the island in the 1970s! The tour guide was great and very informative - she even offered to take photos for families so everyone could be in the picture. We'd love for it to be longer so we could have seen more of the island!

Our tour guild was so friendly and even helped take pictures for us to capture our experience. She was funny and knowledgeable which made the excursion even better. Johanna is an excellent guide: patient, caring, instructive, informative and knowledgeable. She led our ATV group safely and at reasonable speeds for ATV beginners traversing challenging terrain over volcanic trails and 4x4 back roads. We stopped at a few picturesque sites for photos, and she was happy to take family photos for sharing.

One of the best experiences we have been on. Our tour guide Mar was lovely and very knowledgeable on the whole island. She really made the tour and gave us valuable information which we used for the whole island. The tour was a lot of fun and amazing to drive right over the volcano.

This is a beginner level tour. If you are looking for putting an ATV through its paces you may want to do a different tour. The views were fantastic and unique. Definitely worth the time. The ATV’s themselves are well used with a few having to be swapped out before we could get going. May be time to start thinking about replacement vehicles. The employees were great at assisting with getting everyone into properly fitting coveralls, helmets and gloves. Very personable and willing to help with anything we needed.

This was the best part of our weeklong trip to Iceland! Mar was our guide for our 10AM ATV tour, which ended up being a “private tour” since our group were the only ones there! She was the BEST. She led us on a great tour, took so many photos, and shared stories and history of the island. The gear (jumpsuits, helmets, and gloves) were perfect to keep us warm in the chilly/drizzling weather. The sights were epic. This is an absolute must do when in the Westman Islands!
