Jamil was so knowledgeable and patient.
Growing and making chocolate is not easy!
He was quite the showman at the Coffee House!

Jamil was a fantastic tour guide! This is a multigenerational farm that his grandfather started. We walked through the entire process of growing cacao and the toes used to make dark and milk chocolate, the farms practices for cacao, mangoes and now vanilla among other citrus that they grow. The process was fascinating, including roasting the beans, grinding it down all the way to making the chocolate bars for ourselves. Thorough explanation and then ending in an amazing lunch just was the icing on top. Highly recommend this experience!!!

I really had a great time! Booked the trip last minute, 2am that same day! They were unable to schedule the 9am tour but was able to accommodate me at noon. Driver picked me up from hotel on time and got me there and back safely. The tour of cocoa farm was awesome, lunch was great, and I would definitely encourage you to go. A much need getaway from the busy city and experience a dry rainforest. Also, great photos and friendly tour guides!

What a wonderful relaxing day spent visiting this beautiful cocoa plantation with an abundance of tropical fruit grown on the property. Our guide Simon was friendly, engaging and informative. He showed us the entire chocolate making process from picking the fruit to making the chocolate. We roasted and ground cocoa beans into a thick paste that we used to make a delicious hot chocolate and a fondue to dip a banana into. We then proceeded to make our own chocolate bar to take away with us.
Lunch was absolutely amazing. Three courses made from ingredients totally sourced from the farm finishing with a delightful coffee (the beans also grown on the property)… Probably one of the best meals I had in Ecuador.
I can’t speak highly enough of how good this tour was and is a must do for anyone looking for an authentic Ecuadorian experience!

What a blast! We wandered the entire plantation, picking up a few different kinds of chocolate (cacao), before roasting the beans and grinding our own chocolate! Using that grinded chocolate we first enjoyed hot chocolate (with lemon grass and chile) and then a little fondue. We also tried the inside of the beans while still raw. After lunch we made our own chocolate bar, you choose the toppings. A fantastic experience. Simon is a superior guide -- so much more than an "out and back" tour.

Loved making chocolate! The guide was professional, knowledgeable and friendly. The lunch was delicious!
The price was excellent for what we received and experienced!

What an amazing experience. This family run farm is so special and you can tell they love what they do. We had a blast learning the chocolate making process and then enjoyed a beautiful lunch. Well worth it!

My tour guide Simon was awesome. He has much knowledge of Ecuador and the agriculture. Definitely recommend the tour and visiting the cocoa farm.

This excursion was phenomenal from our driver Jefferson to Jamil and Ninfa teaching us about the full chocolate making production. They shared about their lives and culture. We were able to taste the fruit of the cacao and had and absolutely delicious juice made from the fruit. If you aren't sure what to do with some extra time in Guayaquil book this trip, they accommodated us last minute and I'm so glad we took this opportunity. Thank you all for an unforgettable experience. We look forward to your coffee production in the future!

Wow what an incredible experience. i’ve been to places where they tell you about the process but here you actually get intimate with the process. hands-on and trying the chocolate through all the steps to truly learn and understand the flavor. and the lunch was absolutely amazing.

this might've been my favorite day during my trip to Ecuador. Simón was the best! He was super knowledgeable of the Ecuadorian flora and fauna, and he was super likable. The cacao farm was a great way to get to see first hand all the biodiversity this beautiful country has. The lunch was incredible and super fresh. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who would love to get to know more about how chocolate is made.

Jamil was a wonderful tour guide. We enjoyed the walk through the plantation, making chocolate from the pod and then a delicious lunch
What a terrific way to end our Ecuador trip!

As described in the previous 5 star reviews, the trip to Cacaoymango was a completely enjoyable and memorable experience. Our driver and guide, Simon, took time to show us many interesting features of the landscapes and culture on the drive to/from the farm.
Upon arriving at Cacaoymango we were warmly welcomed by Jamil and given a unique, delicious drink made from the inside of the cacao husk. Simon then took us on a tour through the plantation pointing out all the many fruits and vegetables grown there.
We then participated in actually making chocolate, a complicated process with a delicious result.
Finally we enjoyed a delicious lunch made almost entirely of products from the farm and it was all absolutely delicious!
This was a great way to get a glimpse of rural living outside of Guayaquil and we highly recommend this tour!
Special thanks to Simon!

I was very nicely welcome by siblings Jamil and Ninfa who both work on this cacao farm since their adulthood.Jamil has explained me evrything about cultivating cacao beans as well as he has shown me processing of cacao nibs and making real chocolate bar.His sister has prepared me delicious lunch consists of 3 courses. This family farm is situated in a quiet rural area surrounded by nature which gives the opposite feeling than busy city of Guajaquil.I really recommend this tour, don't hesitate, you will not regret it.

One of our favorite experiences in Ecuador! A lovely tour of a family owned cocoa plantation. We learned about how cocoa is cultivated and processed, with demonstrations, from bean to chocolate! Plus we got to make a gourmet chocolate bar at the on site chocolate shop. This has to be the only cocoa plantation that grows cocoa and also makes fine chocolate confections!
They also grow vanilla, coffee, avocados, and others - it was all included on the tour. We learned so much!
Bring your insect repellent - the mosquitos are tiny but persistent. But they are needed for the pollination of some of the crops, so you can't be to mad at them!

My visit to Hacienda Cacao y Mango was the best part of my Ecuador trip. The tour, led by Ninfa, offered a deep dive into chocolate making and Ecuadorian history. Ninfa shared personal stories, like her grandfather's life as a cacao farm worker.
I learned about the history of cacao since the 1700s and insights into Ecuador's socio-political landscape were eye-opening. Tasting the unique cacao nectar and watching cacao beans turn into chocolate was thrilling. Cacao nectar is something I may never taste again.
Besides cacao, we discussed broader topics like Ecuador's economy and global agriculture. The experience also touched on the current challenges in Guayaquil, including social unrest and safety concerns.
In short, Hacienda Cacao y Mango is a must-visit for its authentic, insightful look into Ecuador's cacao industry and history. It's more than a typical tourist spot – it's a chance to understand Ecuador's culture and challenges through the lens of cacao.

This was a private tour. I booked the Saturday tour on late Friday afternoon and wasn’t sure if the the operator would pay attention. Fortunately Ninfa responded and confirmed the pick up address. Roberto was on time to pick the three of us. After about an hour ride, we arrived at Cocoa y Mango Farm. Jamil went through two kinds of cacao fruits and demonstrated cocoa processing. The 100% fresh cocoa juice was so delicious with the right balance of tartness and sweetness! We learned a lot about chocolate making and decorated our own bars. The lunch didn’t disappoint our gastronomic expectations. The appetizer of shrimp, crab, and fish ceviche, the entree of chicken and local rice, and the dessert of ice cream and chocolate balls were all amazing! On the way back, Roberto stopped by at a roadside market for us to buy local fruits. This was a perfect tour. I highly recommend it.

There was a very informative tour of the farm and we were able to try making chocolate from scratch. A gourmet lunch was served and the atmosphere and the entire facility was very welcoming. A highlight of our trip to Guayaquil, Ecuador!

We knew everything about how chocolate was made and the content was great. Lunch is also homemade and very good. If I had to say one thing, take care of your bugs. There are also mangroves nearby, so you can enjoy it more if you go with a set.

The tour was very good. Our guide Jefferson picked us up from the hotel. There he showed us the place, taught us about cocoa and its production process, as well as, together with the other guide, gave us to taste the cocoa seed, the cocoa paste with some fruits and the liquid with a touch of local liquor. We also decorate our own chocolate bar as a souvenir. The tour also included a very rich lunch (shrimp ceviche, chicken dry and chocolate dessert). More than satisfied.
Recommendation: wear repellents and wear clothing with long sleeves and pants. The number of mosquitoes out there is impressive.
