My wife and I were picked up right on time at 5:30am at our Guayaquil hotel. We were delivered to our birding guides Ivette Solis and Jorge Abad who conducted an excellent 4-hour birding tour of Cerro Blanco followed by a thorough 1-hour review of all bird species seen. It was an excellent 1/2 day birding tour due to two very capable guides.

This was a wonderful trip. Our guide, Daniel, was extremely knowledgeable and his English was excellent. He clearly knows the birds of Cerro Blanco intimately and he made this trip very rewarding.
Cerro Blanco itself is a dry forest habitat and the day we went, in early November, it was pretty much empty. We were able to see and photograph 39 species in about four hours.

Daniel is an excellent birder. He knows the songs/calls and can imitate them. We saw an amazing number of birds in 4 hours. Cerro Blanco is only 20 minutes from Guayaquil.

Our guide Daniel was excellent. He knows the birds, their calls & songs, behavior and history. We went during the rainy season on a wet damp day, but still found 30 new birds to include on eBird for us. It’s always a good day when you are outdoors.
