After morning pickup from your central Dubai hotel, sit back and relax into your private, air-conditioned 4x4 with your personal driver-guide at the wheel.

Then, absorb the views as you travel through the desert and rugged Hajar Mountains toward Oman’s Musandam Peninsula. Take in the soaring peaks as you cross the border into Oman, and head for the port of Dibba, located on a wide bay on the Gulf of Oman.

Admire the awe-inspiring, mountain-framed bay and then drive into the Jebel Harim mountains, a range of craggy peaks and canyons that few visitors ever get to explore.

Turn into Wadi Khab Shamsi, one of range’s many dried river canyons, and follow the off-road trail that winds between the precipitous walls. Stop to capture the steep cliffs and barren scenery on camera along the way, and bask in the cool breezes and shade from the cliffs. Temperatures here are, on average, 50 degrees Fahrenheit (10 degrees Celsius) cooler than in the open, so the ravine offers a refreshing refuge from the heat.

Look for the wildlife and birds that come here to rest out of the sun, and hear fascinating facts about the region’s natural history and geography from your guide. Unlimited sodas and mineral water are supplied for you during your trip.

Trundle through the twisting canyon to up to nearly 3,937 feet (1,200 meters) before taking your leave of the wadi and traveling to a local restaurant.

Here, relax and recharge over a traditional Omani lunch before making the scenic journey back to Dubai, where your trip ends with a hotel drop-off.
