An asset to the town this tour adds another dimension to your Ilfracombe experience. The History is explained in detail and with enthusiasm.
Once a resort of a grandeur reminiscent of the Mediterranean Rivieras but 100 years earlier. Regular steam ships brought the rich and famous to come and stay. Today's town has undergone 2000 years of evolution since it started life as an Iron Age Hill Fort. Castles, churches and grand buildings have come and gone. It has been touched by Wars and even played a part in starting WW1 ! All the time looking out towards Wales and the Atlantic Ocean focused on what the sea will bring.

Mark was very knowledgeable and interesting. It was a lovely relaxed walk along the sea frount and harbour as he weaved stories and tales of mystery and intrigue. Worth every penny

I booked this tour, months in advance of our holiday, as I always think that it is important to know a little of the history of where you are staying. We were not disappointed, our guide Mark, was incredibly knowledgable about the history of the beaches, buildings and harbour of Ilfracombe, with some old photos showing days gone by, and a few ghost stories thrown in! Mark answered all our questions and we spent a very enjoyable afternoon on this tour, leaving us with a more enriched view of Ilfracombe.
