Mr Faizal arrived 20 min early. We tuk tuked thru back streets of colombo to 5 spots. It was plenty of food. Faizal was a brilliant guide. Customer service rating 5/5 stars! Pro tip: Skip meals in advance to make room.

An amazing experience. Our guide Faizal was really friendly and attentive. He took us to some great street style restaurants where we tasted traditional Sri Lanka food and even introduced us to the owners of the restaurant where they discussed their food. Highly recommend.

We had a lovely night travelling around Colombo in a tuk tuk. Visited the food market for some King coconut, then onto several different local restaurants for a great variety of delicious food. Come with an empty stomach!

Great way to see and eat your way through Colombo

Highly recommend this tour especially if you want a quick overview of local food and culture in Colombo. Hotel pick up was included and the TukTuk was very comfortable. My guide Hemi was wonderful. He explained all the food I ate and made sure I was eating enough! It felt like a good friend was showing me around the city instead of just a tour guide. We stopped by the local market, a museum, and a tea tasting in additional to all the food. Hemi also took tons of photos and videos of me without asking and that was appreciated! I always love doing food tours and this one was great. Recommend doing this when you’re in Colombo.

The food was absolutely excellent and pickup was right on time at my hotel. I was paired with another solo traveler, which ended up being absolutely great. Our guide was new at the job and not super comfortable with English, so we didn’t get a lot of explanations about the dishes.

This is a great short intro to Sri Lanka and I’d highly recommend doing this on your first day. First off, you get a lay off the land in terms of foods. Secondly, the Tuktuk ride is an added bonus for getting to see Colombo. I did this tour on my first day before starting a group tour and it was very helpful for the rest of my trip. The only downside for me was that compared to other food tours, I’d suggest maybe finishing with a dessert.

The tuk tuks were interesting. We were a group of 5 in 2 vehicles and our driver did not speak English, so we didn’t get any commentary as we drove around, but it still gave us an idea of the city.

What a whole bunch of fun to do in Colombo. 8 of us friends took 4 TukTuks who collected us promptly from our hotel. The drivers were smiley, courteous and the TukTuk’s were clean. The tour of the city was a lot of fun, the drivers mastering the streets and traffic safely. The food outlets were well spaced and there was plenty of variation. Food quality was excellent and the portions huge. I wasn’t sure how this was going to be but it was a superb evening spent with our friends getting to know the city and whilst enjoying tasty local food. Highly recommend.

Great tour with multiple stops across the city. We had Mr Faisal as our guide and he was really helpful with my wife who has mobility ssues. Made about 6 stops, experiencing several dishes in some places, but also seeing a bit of Colombo as we travelled. Food was great but so filling - had to beg for smaller portions as the night went on. One warning - tuktuks are not for everyone; we never felt unsafe but there is lots of zipping through tiny gaps to avoid traffic, which may trouble nervous passengers. That said, thoroughly recommended - we would do it again!

The food was so delicious! It was amazing to try so many different foods in a single afternoon. There was a lot of food, so definitely bring a big appetite. It was great fun cruising around the city in a Tuk Tuk, even in the wind and rain. Black Caviar (spelling?) was an excellent guide. He was great at answering all my questions even while driving and handling the traffic. I would highly recommend this tour. It’s a great start to a trip to Colombo and Sri Lanka.

Be aware of your itinerary as places could be missed.

Quick city tour... perhaps not a street food tour

The tour was exactly 2 hours from door to door. We only landed at 3pm and got picked up at 7pm so it was a great first, quick introduction to the city. There was plenty of food and we struggled to eat it all to be honest. You definitely won't leave hungry! Our guide was good and explained different things throughout the city. The places we ate weren't that great. We recently did a food tour in marrakesh which was exceptional and we went to real local eateries and our guide explained about all the food. This didn't really happen on this tour! We were given it food and left to it. It was also very rushed in each place. No time to let food settle. The stop at the tea shop for us, like others have said, was pointless and a hard sell. Also the dessert at the end was pointless. A pot bought from the supermarket with some honey to drizzle over. Not what I'd expect on a street food tour. I'm glad I did the tour as I saw the the city quickly but I would have liked a little more emphasis on street food and to not be rushed!

Tour was a solid 3* Ricky arrived on time but the tour was over after 2.5hrs (not 3-4hrs as listed). The guide did not set the scene e.g. we will go here and try some North Sri Lankan food, then here, finally hear and it will take xx time, etc. We tried some lovely food, it was spicy, some a bit too spicy for me but all good. As per other reviews visiting the tea shop felt like a hard sell and the supermarket yogurt at the end is silly, there’s so many Sri Lankan desserts. We tried to ask about the history of the food but we couldn’t communicate well. Ricky was nice. Unfortunately last month I did the Mumbai food tour which was my comparison point. It was a similar value but a lot more variety of food, a lot more history of the food and more immersive (a lot was on foot after parking up).

The worst food tour ever. First 3 adult in small tuk tuk. Can’t see anything no explanation where we are going. The first stop the foods was not eatable. The teas shop was a joke. The desert was store bought . Finally we have a hard time understand Mr. Carvia. We didn’t get all the foods was listed.

SOOOOOO much food!! Such a great tour to not only eat some amazing food but also get to zip around Colombo in a Tuk Tuk! Experience traditional foods in real local restaurants and from local vendors. Romesh was a great guide for our evening. Make sure to come hungry as it’s an enormous amount of food!!!
