It was an excellent introduction to this beautiful city, our driver / guide Maline DeSilva was brilliant, spoke excellent English, had very good knowledge of history and tradition. Pointed out all the important things and gave time to walk around. Because we arrived at our meeting point earlier, he organised a satisfactory meeting point and arrived quickly. We wanted to go to Catholic cathedral and he facilitated it , excellent experience and would thoroughly recommend it

Same as our other five tours in Sri Lanka, this was not a guided tour but felt more like a very Uber experience. Once we got into the car, our “driver-guide” simply asked us where we wanted to go. We had to pull up the itinerary from the booking ourselves and effectively guide the “driver-guide” throughout the trip.
There was minimal historical or cultural information about Colombo, and it was clear that the guide had not even been inside some of the buildings themselves before.
Operator, could you please arrange proper day Colombo tour for your driver-guides? At the very least, they should understand what a guided tour is supposed to be like, and have basic knowledge of the history and key landmarks of their own country.
It’s disappointing to see experiences like this, as it undermines Sri Lanka’s tourism potential. Travellers like us leave without truly understanding or appreciating the country, and unfortunately, it makes it difficult for me to recommend Sri Lanka to friends.
On the positive note, at least our “driver guide” was willing to follow us during those few hours, helped us to buy tickets where it’s needed, and drove the car to the closest spot, and to pick us back up, to minimise our walking outdoor under the sun. (Otherwise it’s a 1-star review.)

At the same time, we intentionally offer a flexible, personalized experience, as many travelers prefer to explore Colombo at their own pace rather than follow a rigid script.
It is also worth noting that your description contradicts itself while criticizing the experience, you acknowledge that the driver:

A good way to see some of the sights of Colombo, however, there was a lot of covering the same ground on foot to see various buildings in the Dutch Shopping District which weren’t overly interesting. The driver / guide didn’t seem enthused to do the trip and we had to ask which sights we would be seeing during the trip. Highlight was the Hindu temple and blessing. Car was comfortable and AC efficient. Main reason for 2* rating was the level of the drivers’ English which was for the most part barely understandable and made the trip quite frustrating. I’m sure the experience could have been better with a different guide.

This is a great tour to get a good feel of Colombo, and Maleen was a fantastic tour guide. He showed us many prominent buildings and landmarks in the city, both on foot and in the mini bus. Our group included 2 men with walking sticks and they both handled this tour with no problems. Maleen has a great knowledge of the history of Sri Lanka and is very friendly with good English. I would recommend this tour and we had a wonderful day!

We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon city tour of Colombo. Shout out to our excellent guide who was extremely knowledgeable about the history and culture of Sri Lanka. He went above and beyond to make sure that we had a memorable experience; we wanted a coffee and he took us to an art gallery/coffee bar with a cool vibe and top notch coffee. This tour is an awesome option for anyone looking to explore a bit more of Colombo. Bandara was a phenomenal and knowledgeable guide and safe and careful driver. Really enjoyed seeing the memorial to Sri Lankan independence, stopping at the main port, seeing several gorgeous Hindu and Buddhist temples, the red mosque, as well as going to the Lotus Flower tower. The Lotus Flower is a 20 USD entrance fee so be prepared to pay that should you opt to go there for the fabulous view. Bandara was very accommodating in bringing me to the speciality shops I wanted to see, including for gemstones and tea. This tour can be tailored to your interests and timeframe - great way to see Colombo!

Maleen was a great guide who was waiting for us at the pier main gate about 15 mins early, took us on a wonderful tour making sure he met our interests, he took us to all the major sites, parking where tour buses couldn’t go, saving a lot of walking, he paid our entry into the Buddhist and Hindu temples, bought flowers and incense for us to donate in the temples, he even had a Shaman give us a personal blessing, he stopped at a local restaurant and bought us lunch, we had about 10 different curry’s, we were able to stop at a gem store where my wife bought a royal blue Sri Lankan Saphire ring, he also stopped at a souvenir store on the way back to the port where we bought cinnamon and White tea, all and all a great day

Naura, our guide, spoke English very well. She was very accommodating, waited for us until we finished at the museum, and gave us information about the sites. We visited Colombo during Ramadan, so most restaurants were closed during the a day, and Maura showed us to a restaurant that was open. All in all, an enjoyable visit.

This was a well organised tour in a small group in a thankfully extremely well air conditioned van. Maleen was very knowledgeable and showed us all the highlights. We had plenty of time at each site and were in no way rushed. The day was capped off with a lovely local lunch. A great tour!

Overall, I enjoyed this tour, and I would recommend it to people who want to see major sites in Colombo, especially if they have limited time. I wasn’t entirely thrilled with our guide…he was very nice, but he was difficult to understand, and he took at least 11 phone calls during our time together (I stopped counting after a while). He had some issue with his other business, and I understand that things can happy, but this got out of hand, especially when he took a couple of personal phone calls as well. He also didn’t offer us water (to be fair, we didn’t ask either), and we ended up having to pay for our entrance into the temple, which was supposed to have been included in the price of the tour. The amount was very small (less than USD$5), though, and I didn’t want to make a fuss.

I was awed by the Buddist templesand the sense of peace that one feels inside. This is a great way to get one's bearings and catch most of the major sites. My tour was on Election Day so many things were closed...but it was still enjoyable. My driver /guide Bandara was very effective and accommodated my interest in seeing shops with locally produced goods and gems.

Great driver, nice stops. Car needs better AC, very hot inside due to air not functioning well. The tour was A+ but the a/c was the only reason that we gave the tour 4 stars. There were :3 of us so we were in the back seat. There were no vents in the back and the front a/c was not working properly.
We hit every great stop and were informed of all of the history. The guide as very knowledgeable and a very good driver.

We took this tour from the cruise ship terminal, and it was a very welcome sight to see our name on the guide's sign amid a sea of taxi drivers offering tours. The guide was very well organized, and above all knowledgeable and to happy to talk about the history and culture of the country as well as details of the sights we visited. He knew where to go, how best to get there and where to park so that our time was optimized. But above all, the local insights made this tour extremely informative and overall superb value.
