My partner and I each did independent research on activities to do on our trip and this tour made both of our lists. We decided to go based on the reviews and unique experience, and we were not disappointed. Alex is a great storyteller and guide, and the setting is unlike any place we've been. Nothing paranormal happened on our tour but that's not something we were seeking anyway. This will be a highlight of our trip and we'd reccommend it to anyone who has the opportunity!
First off, Alex is an amazing guide! You can tell he’s very knowledgeable and passionate about sharing the mysteries/theories of the forest. Hiking with a complete stranger in a pitch-black Transylvanian forest may sound crazy to some, but it was an unforgettable and unique experience. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Cluj! Make sure you wear shoes with a good grip as there were some portions where we went off the trail, but Alex will walk with you at your own pace.
So much fun! Alex was great and came prepared with everything needed. Definitely book this if you want to do something different!
The forest tour was better than I expected. Alex didn't feed us tall tales; instead, he shared the historical events and folklore that have made Hoia Baciu famous, and let us sense the energy of the place so that the experience would be truly unique.
This experience was six years in the making for our group! We originally booked it back in 2020, but COVID had other plans. So finally getting to do it all these years later was pretty special and even cooler that our guide was the same person we had booked with back then, Alex!
We headed into the forest around 10:30 p.m. and spent about two hours walking through the woods in complete darkness. If you're expecting a haunted house or people jumping out from behind trees, this is NOT that kind of tour. Instead, it's a fascinating look into the local folklore, legends, and unexplained stories that have been passed down through the years.
Alex was fantastic. You can tell he genuinely loves what he does and has spent countless hours exploring these forests. He shared stories, history, and his own experiences in a way that kept us engaged the entire time, with just the right amount of humor.
Did we see any ghosts? Nope. Did we feel anything spooky? Not really. But one of our Meta glasses definitely randomly glitch a three different times during the hike... coincidence? Don't know but it was weird.
We were the ONLY people in the forest that night, and the silence alone made the experience unforgettable. If you enjoy folklore, history, mystery, or just want to experience something completely different, we highly recommend this tour. And if you're lucky enough to get Alex as your guide, you're in for a great night!
Unique experience that is fun, educational, and entertaining. The forest is beautiful and enchanting.
The guide was very friendly and accommodating. He was very knowledgeable about the area's history and the folklore about the forest. This was the highlight of my trip to Romania. I recommend this tour if in the area.
The night tour through the Hoia Baciu forest was incredible! With the legends about the supernatural phenomena, this was exactly the tour we were looking for because it also touched on what could be explained, so it was a perfect blending of the two. Our tour guide Alex was amazing! The pace of the hike was perfect, even though I am out of shape. Somehow, Alex made walking through a dark forest in the middle of the night with a complete stranger not only safe, but actually peaceful and fun.
You can tell Alex really cares for the forest and its history and mystery. Many interesting stories about the folklore and his personal experiences. You could never get the same feeling by visiting alone. Going at night in the fall made it extra atmospheric. Can’t recommend this tour enough!
It's dark and there's lots of trees. Be prepared to hear some random noises, but it's usually animals. Highly recommend.

Alex, our guide, expertly guided us through the forest's winding paths while stopping at key spots to give his explanations and commentary, as well as a recap of Romanian folklore and its characers as it relates to the forest. Highly recommend this one-of-a-kind tour for anyone with even a slight intetest in the paranormal who wants to learn more about why Hoia Baciu is considered haunted, its IFO history, and its unexplainable twisted and melded trees, all on a very unique tour. Don't miss this unique experience when in Cluj!
Alex was a great guide. Very knowledgeable about Rumanian folklore and the history of the forest. The tour was really entertaining, he maintained a calm energy and allowed us to spook ourselves and come to our own conclusions. Definitely a must if you visit Cluj. A rather different and unique honeymoon experience.
Alex will cater your nightly adventure with your expectations. He won't summon a UFO or strigoi or woodland fairy but his ability to communicate and alleviate it with humor will make this nightly stroll through Hoia Baciu Forest a breeze. I would say his belief in the supernatural is more 50-50 than he was willing to confess. This was fine because this is my belief and I am a person who needs to see it to believe it myself. I just wanted to be in the clearing and see this natural/unnatural phenomenon for myself. I would highly recommend this nightly tour but avoid late June because the local city uses the forest for a nightly 5k/10k yearly city run. We missed this by a day and having many people in the forest may ruin the experience for you. As far as my experience, I had an extremely deep migraine and heard a hum that was throbbing in my head when we first passed through the first road and into the proper part of the forest away from the opening mouth. My vision got hazy and the recent sunset was darkening the forest and my eyes were playing tricks on me. Alex kept mentioning that it was a clear night but I was seeing a fog and I kept seeing a black blotchy figure dancing all over the forest just a few meters from where Alex was stopping and telling us his first story. It passed after sunset was complete and the forest became dark but it definitely felt like something was watching us but innocently, like a child camping nearby with their parents and just stumbled onto us. My fiance took an innocent picture and I thought I saw something. I have attached the photo. Maybe it's pareidolia but I swear I see a cute fairy face, that I joked looked like Stitch from Lilo and Stitch. Also, I took a picture in the clearing and it was perfectly clear but random smoke and a pink-ish haze appeared. Again, I need to see it to believe it when I am there and since I didn't see these things until after the fact, I won't believe anything but it's fun to think things were happening during our tour. I hope to do it again with Alex during the daytime or take more people during the nightly tour. Kudos, Alex. Keep living the dream!

Alex was awesome. Super knowledgeable about every detail of the forest and his country of Romania. The experience was so unique, it was the seasons first snow and the moon was high and bright and illuminated the whole forest without the need of flashlights or headlamps. It was cold, with snow and fogg which added to the mystique of the forest. You can tell Alex is very passionate about what he does and picking his brain was the best part. Thanks for a great experience!

Loved loved loved this tour! Alex is such a great story teller and this experience made it so fun to learn about Romanian folklore! Alex was also very accomodating as our plane faced a delay causing us to miss our original reservation. This tour was honestly one of the best experiences I have ever had! Definitely book if you are interested in the paranormal.

We were coming to Transylvania from the USA for only one week, and when i found this tour i knew we had to come the extra way to Cluj-Napoca. I’m so glad we did! The tour operator is very knowledgeable and professional, and flexible when we had to change our beginning time. We learned a lot and had the experience we were looking forward to! Alex is the perfect person for this job!
Tour guide was very professional and had an obvious passion for the forest. His knowledge was vast and he was able to answer all of our questions. Would definitely recommend to anyone with even a remote interest in the forest.
Alex was the best! The forest is filled with amazing stories that he was able to convey in a very interesting, entertaining and sometimes even a little bit scary. The walk is not hard at all and we definitely recommend this tour for anyone who has a healthy dose of curiosity, beliefs in the supernatural or even a healthy skeptical mind. Would definitely do this tour again just to experience the forest itself again.
Night time hike through a forest just outside of Cluj that is reputedly the site of various paranormal activity, ranging from encounters with local cryptoids to extraterrestrials. No encounters with extraterrestrials during my vist haha, but the forest is certainly home to some interesting natural foliage and features and it was worth taking the hike for the unique nighttime atmosphere alone. Tudor the guide was great and knowledgeable about Hoia's lore, and made me feel very safe in an alien (yes, pun intended) environment.
