Pick up in the lobby at centrally located hotels or apartments. Cruise port meeting point: Door # 12. Pick up time: 08:45 am (timetables subject to change, to be confirmed after booking). Tickets are sent through VIATOR Dashboard and whatsapp if you have informed it at time of booking. If you did not receive them, please contact us. After our driver drop you off at Buenos Aires Port, you just need to go to the ferryboat company check-in counter and present your passport or valid ID for this international trip. Tickets might be requested, too. Please have them printed or in your mobile. You will get the boarding pass and go through migrations and next take the boat to Colonia. When you arrive in Colonia, UY, after passing through the luggage control, you will find the exit door on the left. Once you walk it through, turn left and you will see a counter with a sign "walking tour". Please contact the staff at Colonia Express at that stand inside the port terminal so you can start the walking tour (please, show your voucher so you can can be assigned to the correct group). If you cannot find anybody there, please try to find the other stands of Colonia Express inside the port terminal. For your trip back, you need to be at Colonia Port for the check in 01 hour previous to the departure time. You can check the departure time in the tickets we sent or consult us or ask the ferryboat staff once you arrive in Colonia. You will need to check in again at the ferryboat company counter to get your boarding pass and go through migrations. Once you are back in Buenos Aires and after migrations, our driver will be waiting for you with a sign with your name to take you to the starting point.

Colonia del Sacramento is beautiful and well worth a visit - I’d have stayed there in fact but a day trip is great if you are short of time. The tour company were very communicative and drivers were punctual and friendly.

A good way to fill in a day with the ferry to and from Colonia de Sacramento. The walking tour was short, so gave you ample of time to explore on your own, also have lunch at one of the many eateries, and some shopping. With the return ferry leaving at 5pm we got to enjoy a magnificent sunset. .

I paid almost 400$for 2 person for this tour but tour guid was just one hour with us and they chenge my retern at last minutes and said back to the port at 3 pm .It,s mean just 2 hours for visit city and get lunch and back to port.So I cheged my retern ticket to 8,30 with tour guid help.But when I cald tour oprator for let him know and get ride,he yeling and screamed on me and said why you chenged your retern. But driver was nice and I caled her directly and she came picked us on time.

You changed your ticket without previously informing that to us and we even made our best and accomodated the new time for your transfer back to your hotel in Buenos Aires. Nobody yelled and screamed on you from our side. We think it is a reasonable price if you consider the hints we gave you and the transfers we provided (even the last one with your last minute change) that made it a safe and smooth trip. Very poor. Pick up & drop off were fine, but Colonia Express 1 hour tour was not great. We felt that for $195 each, we grossly overpaid.

It was a good experience. Although you have to be prepared to expend at least 2 hours per via to clear migration. That was only the bad note. The tour guide was really a plus for our short visit.

It is over priced and the tour was pretty short. The journey was uneventful as I sat in the ferry for 90 minutes each way to Colonia and back only to look at an old Portuguese wall and light tower.

We spent more times in lines and traveling back and forth than the time we had in Colonia. It was a Saturday, maybe it was busier then. We were told we needed to be back at the boat 2 hours before our departure to make sure we got on!

Really pretty and interesting city. You can see how the city switched between the Portuguese and the Spanish styles over and over, sometimes in one building or one road. Great photo ops.
What was hard was going through immigration, customs, and security twice. It was Extremely slow, crowded, and exhausting..

The tour was well organized and the pickup and dropoff driver on the Buenos Aires side was punctual and reliable. Boat ride was smooth. The Colonia side was quite beautiful but the guided tour was only an hour long and it wasn't clear what to do after. Ended up having lunch and wandering around but it wasn't super interesting. Still recommend it if you want to check a country off your list.

Definitely recommend visiting this beautiful town. Our tour operator was excellent! We got regular communication and very clear instructions on how to get through customs at the ferry. Transport was arranged and timely. Lovely experience and delicious local food. Totally worthwhile!

Other reviewers say you can do this trip on your own and they are correct but Viator was very efficient in delivering us and picking us up at the port. Providing us with a valid ticket as well as a guide at Colonia. Unless you are serious about this trip take note that you spend a lot of time clearing customs on both sides because you are leaving and entering two countries. Personally I really like the atmosphere of Colonia and like anyplace the more time spent exploring the more you discover. For example we spent some time finding a restaurant the guide recommended called Charco and got to see the river side as a result.

A lot of time on the ferry or in the ferry line for a short guided walk. Guide was good, but we had more time to hanf out with little to explore.

You are picked up at your hotel, dropped at the ferry (don’t forget your passport). The ride is 1 1/2 hours each way. You are met at the other side by a tour guide, who takes you thru the city for about an hour. You then have free time to explore Colonia del Sacramento. Make sure you return to the terminal 1 hour before departure. When you return to Buenos Aires, a driver will pick you up and take you to your hotel. Our tour guide in Uruguay, Lourdes, was very informative and helpful and knew a lot about the history of the city. It was a fun day.

A great town in Uruguay with lots of character. Options to rent a golf cart or car to further explore if wanted. The downtown and historic area are small but lots of shops and restaurants. Recommend climbing the lighthouse for the views. Excellent way to escape the hustle of the big city for a day.

Breathtakingly overpriced! We got transport to and from the ferry terminal, ferry tickets and a pleasant walking-tour guide in Colonia. By my calculation, all together these would have cost about half of what Viator charged. Apparently, having an experience without any hitches is priceless.

You can do it yourself but was good to have someone explain the history of the area. Walking tour lasts around 30-60 minutes and rest of day is your own. Just make sure you're back in time for ferry to BA.

Everything went very smoothly. The only complaint is the time it takes to get through immigration and getting there which is out of their control.

A nice trip to the medevial colonial city of Colonia after the ferry transportation to the city, a short but enjoyable city tour. After that we had time for lunch, buy souvenirs at the old city, take an icecream and relax under the shadow of the trees.

Lourdes the guide was very informative. But trip was overpriced. Taxi pick up to port but then had to do rest independently - no help given. Tour only lasted one hour in blistering heat then left to walk around. It would have been much cheaper to book ferry independently and take time to walk around the pretty little town of Colonia and take in the atmosphere. Cobbled streets and lovely restaurants.

We had a wonderful time on our trip. The company was so professional in making arrangements for the hotel pick up, ferry ride, registering us for the walking tour, and picking us back up as soon as the ferry arrived back into Argentina. I would definitely recommend their services. It made the whole process very easy and the staff and communications at the ferry itself were very helpful if you were even the tiniest bit confused. We are very grateful it was such a beautiful day and a smooth experience
