This was a very interesting trip, based on an important historical introduction (presented with the most primitive and useful map I’ve seen for years – a cartographer’s dream). We appreciated the fine balance between hard facts, sober storytelling and emotional involvement.

We requested a non-smoking cab and driver for the 10:30 am Black Taxi Tour in Belfast. I received a text message giving me an alternate pickup spot, which was fine. Then he told me he only had 11:30 or 12 O' Clock slots available. I returned the call and the operator said he now had a driver for the 10:30 am pickup.
The driver was 10 minutes late on arriving. When I climbed in the car, the back seat and floor were filthy and reeked of cigarette smoke. My wife was disgusted. When I told the driver we requested a non-smoking car, he said it was non-smoking, and he was the only one who smoked.
We asked if he could find another driver? He said, "Let me go over here to the cab stand and see if I can find you one." Then he drove off. I called the tour operator, who told me we are not getting a refund, so I had better hop back in the car. But the driver was long gone, undoubtedly out to pick up other business.
Bottom line is: WE NEVER TOOK THE TRIP, THIS WAS A SHADY OPERATOR, AND NOT THE USUAL LEVEL OF SERVICE THAT WE SEE THROUGH Viator / Trip Advisor. These were bad actors.
The phone showed as "Gerardo" on Whats Ap, The text Message came from "LUCY," and an e-mail sent to me through Viator was signed "Chole" telling me "we won't be paying you a refund for your tour." However, we never took the tour, and I do expect a refund.
