Makasutu Forest exceeded our expectations! It's such a beautiful place run by people who love nature and animals who are happy to share their knowledge abour both the flora and fauna. The visit also included a boat ride among mangroves, trying local palm juice and climbing to the top of a view point to see incredible views of the forest and river. We took so many photos of baboons, birds and the landscape! This place should be more popular! We were picked up and dropped off by a lovely driver who waited for us too and contacted us before the trip. 100% recommended!

Nice day trip with friendly guides

Makasutu Culture Forest gives you a look at the different flora and fauna that are present in the area. Well explained by friendly guides. The boat trip was especially nice. Special thanks to Jarry from Kassama Tours - she was so welcoming and nice to talk to!

A great way to see more of Gambian wildlife.

The opportunity to canoe around mangroves is quite rare, despite their profusion worldwide. Together with the forest walk, accompanied by a very knowledgeable guide greatly added to our understanding of The Gambia’s flora and fauna. Due to our early start the palm reader and palm wine tapper were absent, but we did not find that a disadvantage. This area is a testament to the imagination and energy of its founders. While it is sad to see it deteriorating in some areas due to lack of tourist income post pandemic it remains a very important endeavour that should be supported. In practical terms, we wore long trousers, but the sandy paths are wide and shorts would have been fine. Lunches are available for those who wish to extend their about 2-hour visit.

Nice local experience

This was a really nice experience to learn about the local vegetation and traditions. My guide Buba was very professional and he created a memorable experience. I booked with him other 2 tours next days that he organised very well , so if you ever come to Gambia he's the man to show you around .

Taxi and guide to the site and a great paid for ,site guide (extra payment) to see it all.

The guys pick you up and take you to the site. They are friendly, helpful and point out places en-route but it is basically a nice taxi service to the site. The major benefit is that they pick you up from the hotel and return you back which avoids finding one in the street and haggling the journey price there. I didn't see any taxis at the actual site which is somewhat remote in the jungle area, so it is beneficial in that sense. Am unsure how much independent taxi rides would be, so I would advise using this company. At the site the car guide can take you round the site and explain everything for free, or you can hire a site guide for 1500 dalasi. I chose a trained site guide so I can't vouch how good the free talk from the car guide would be. The site guide was absolutely amazing, pointing out the vegetation, wildlife and giving great info on the medicinal values of the plants and trees. We saw lots of troupes of baboons, many birds wading in the rives and heard the call of so many birds. The guide takes you out on a fabulous canoe ride around the creek and mangrove swamps and up the lookout tower. On the day I was the only client so it became a personal tour instead of with several others. Such a great visit.

Es ist ein sehr schönes...

Es ist ein sehr schönes Erlebnis. Der Makasutu -Park kostet pro Person 800 Dalasi Eintritt (2/25). Die Affen waren ein besonders Extra.

Decepcion y estafa

Miquel_S, Aug 2023
