This tour was so well done. Amadou was an incredible guide. He went above and beyond for everything. He knew every body! We were on time for each location and saw the sites at the best times of the day.

Easy meet up outside the port gates. Very good guide. Traffic police are to be wary of, stopped 4 times for 'document' check so don't leave it too late to head back to the port.

Jarri and her brothers and nephew were our guide . They ate a beautiful family . This port doesn’t have much to offer but we did go to Albert’s market , the national museum and the arch . It was an easy tour . This country is developing so yes the van was old but it did get us to where we needed to go . Some people did the extended tour but loaf of us did the shorter one and it was a nice tour. Jarri is caring and gentle and the family stayed around us and answered any questions we had and kept us from being haggled . I’m glad I got off the ship to experienced e a small part of Banjul .

We booked the Banjul, culture and history tour, we were told via whats app the time for pickup and who would pick us up. On the day at port it was a bit confusing to find the pickup area it turned out to be outside the port gates. We stood with about 14 other people (of different ages and abilities) who has booked slightly different tours but it turned out we were all meeting the same person. We were waiting for 2 more guests show up but they never came. The mini bus turned up after a while and some people were a little concerned about the size of the transport for 16 people, it looked like a 8 seater mini bus but with the seats taken out and some benches fitted in there place. Any way we all got in and it was a cosy fit. Banjul is a very busy area and be prepared for it. We first visited the market which was an eye opener to be sure, we had a guide explaining everything to us. Next was the museum which only took local currency which none of us had (it would be helpful if any entrance fees were added to the cost of the tour to save this problem in future). The bank across the road sent someone over to the museum to change cash for (very helpful you wouldn't get this anywhere else). We changed some dollars and paid to go in (nobody else on our trip did). We quite enjoyed the the museum its not like you would get anywhere else out of Africa but interesting all the same. The next stop was Arch 22 again we were the only 2 in the group to go up and to be fair this was a great place to go (apart from the walk upstairs, easy for some) the views were great and at the top the tour guide was excellent at is job and very informative. Then back to the port. I can see why it may not be everyones cut of tea but we really enjoyed the day , we don'tmind roughing it at times and i do have problemswith my knees. Jarry was a good guide and a lovely person.

Not the best tour I have been on. Rather a decrepit mini bus and filled to capacity. The guides were perfectly pleasant and did their best but we stopped after the tour of Banjul although we had also booked an afternoon tour.

Hello Nancy and thank you for your feedback. I am sorry we didn´t manage to make you a good tour. I hope you will return and give us another chance to make it up to you!

The tour team turned up more than half an hour late. The vehicle was in poor condition with 17 people packed into it (14 customers and 3 in the tour team. The highlights were limited to the market, the museum of Gambia and Arch 22. There was no commentary. Information had to be obtained by asking questions. All in all very disappointing.

There were 16 guests plus 2 tour guides and a driver, total 19 people had to squeeze in a small van. Both guides were very unprofessional,
they never gave information until we raised some questions. The meeting time was 9:00 AM, but we didn't leave until 9:30. The tour was supposed to be 4 hours long, but we were taken back to port by 12:30 PM. We're very disappointed about the tour and will never recommend it to anyone.

Buba is very accommodating. Enjoyed our city tour. I am dull of questions and Buba was patient with my inquisitive nature. Thanks for everything Buba.

Jimmy was great!!! He will take you wherever you need to go, and was very pleasant and knowledgeable! Book Jimmy and you won’t be sorry!

This is the worst tour from viator or ever. They tried to scam us into paying $60 to 2 additional sites. When we refused to pay, they said the other people in the mini bus already agreed and they had to find another driver. (We thought we had a private tour with 4 people instead of in a mini bus). As it turned out they said the same thing to the others. It's a scam and viator should return our money.
patricia_h, May 2024
We enjoyed the city tour but especially our visit to the Albert market and the fishing village. These were authentic experiences that needed to be done with a local guide
Larry_M, May 2024
The tour operator never showed up at the agreed time of 9am. I called him, he answered the phone and hung up. I texted him several time and he didn't respond for several hours. He never said exactly where the pick up point was located. There were two main gates, one apparent from the dock and the other one hidden from the dock. Never made it clear which one to meet at. We were there but he wasn't. He finally responded via text and said he was on his way. I then asked exactly where and name of driver; he never responded to my questions. We were at the gate; he wasn't. It also happened to another older couple who were also stood up and didn't get the tour they paid for. Later his excuse was that his cell phone service wasn't working. How can you run a tour operation today without cellphone service. Very dirty with lots of single locals hanging around the gate all trying to get you into their car saying they were the tour company but none had IDs. I will never return this this place again and it's certainly not worth the $$.

We booked a private half day tour of Banjul, The Gambia for 4 people.
Our past tours involved a person with our name on a card and directed to a vehicle. We had to walk through containers to the main gate and many people trying to assert that they were our tour guide. When we got to the tour guide, he ushered us into a white van with about 16 other people. The other individuals booked different tours than ours. The guide took us to the market first then the Arch 22. He told us the third place to see was the museum that was closed because of Labor Day. It was supposed to be a 4 to 5 hour tour. Normally a Viator tour involves places that we would like to see. We saw the 2 places and were back to the ship in an hour and a half because the guide had to take the other folks to the places they wanted to see. One of the places that other folks paid to see was the crocodile park. One of the ladies asked if we could be taken to the crocodile park and were told yes and it would be $60 more per person.
I have used Viator 4 other times and was very satisfied. I am very disappointed about the experience we had in Banjul.
Richard_S, May 2024
Unfortunately, one bad part of the tour was the small group of VERY ugly Americans who complained about everything until they were returned to the ship. Those of us who stayed were treated to a marvelous tour led by Jimmi, who was fun, knowledgeable and cared about our welfare. So...excellent tour which I would highly recommend to others.
Linda_F, Apr 2024
Memorable moments crossing on the boats with the locals. Our guide Jimmy, you could not ask for a better guide! Everything about him was on point.
Dr_T, Feb 2024
I did love the experience of Banjul city tour. Bubba was punctual, flexible, asking what I would like to add to the tour and offered a good price for an airport drop off. He is kind, open minded and a gem.
Lene_B, Dec 2023
The guide, Jimmy (Buba), is fantastic. Gets my best recommendations.
Our whole family enjoyed the trip a lot.
Aarne_R, Dec 2023
Very reliable and good service. Jimmy showed and told us a lot of history and culture in Banjul. He made our visit very sade and convenient. He also offered us the opportunity to see additional experience beyond our originaalia expectations.
Douglas_S, Nov 2023
Jimmy was very helpful and patient with our visit to the huge Albert Market while we bargained for crafts and other souvenirs. He also had small bills so he was able to make change of our larger bills and that made making our purchases easier to complete.
He walked with me all the way to the top of the Arch (the elevator is out of service) and I was able to enjoy taking photos from that vantage point.
We had a comfortable car and driver along with him as our guide. Very nice experience!
Sam_B, Nov 2023
What a wonderful day we had! Jimmy’s knowledge and personality transformed the tour into a memorable journey! His passion for Gambia and its traditions enriched the experience, making it both informative and thoroughly enjoyable.
Would say a tour with Jimmy is a must for anyone seeking an exciting insight into life in Gambia..
Conor_M, Nov 2023
Had a great morning with Jimmy, he showed us around the city and even took some flexible detours to the other places we wanted to see.
A real Gambia experience with the comforts you need for a good day out.
Rennise_T, Nov 2023
The entire trip is waste of money😏
But guess it’s because of the tour guide that came to pick us up.He is too uptight 😏
Mohamed_K, Sep 2023
The trip never happened
The drive had an accident on his way to our hotel. We canceled the trip.
Thank you
Paul_T, Apr 2023
This was a very interesting tour and a good chance to see more of Gambia.
Jimmy was a great tour guide and was very helpful for the duration of my time in Gambia.
Toivo_J, Apr 2023
Several historical and cultural places in one trip from markets to crocodiles. Great views. Easy transfers between them. No problems. Thanks Jimmy!
Charles_K, Mar 2023
Guide was one hour late. Security Guard at port called and woke him. Claimed traffic slowed him. No traffic. Car was almost unusable. Doors would not open. Vehicle banged up, in terrible condition. All gears not functioning. Dirty. Ran out of gas forcing us to walk back to ship.
Asked if we wanted to go to a museum. We agreed. At the end of the tour he wanted more money for driving to the museum. Had not mentioned extra charge before.
We were happy to leave our guide and get back on board our ship.
carolyn_c, Dec 2022
Jimmy was a great guide! We enjoyed the day with him and Alfy. We also went on a short river cruise and walked through the mangroves. It was a great addition but quite expensive and we had to borrow money from our travel companions.
Casserini_M, Apr 2022
At the booked day the guide did not show up; my hotel manager found the tour guide the day after, with the reason he was abroad and can not write me that the tour will not be done. Same tour we did the day after. Quick and fast in 2 hours we visited the main building, the museum and the market. The guide tried to do his best possible. The points we have visited however were not really well maintained. The walk through the market was very interesting. Would say do it if you have enough time, but same could be done by yourself with a taxi driver
Dawid_D, Mar 2022
The driver arrived with a very old, decaying car that posed a threat to life and health. We did not feel safe driving such a vehicle. We have canceled the trip and are waiting for a refund.
I absolutely DO NOT RECOMMEND.
Reena_Z, Feb 2022
We booked the city tour from England for the 15th of Feb. The guide was supposed to pick us up from our hotel at 9 am. We got up early, to get ready, had breakfast sorted our two young children - 6 and 2 and the guide and driver never turned up.. We waited and phoned about 9.45 am to be told that the driver and guide were miles away in Georgetown, on another tour! They did not even bother telling us that they were not coming/running late/etc. We have now contacted them for a full refund - unprofessional, unhelpful and unreliable company. Do not book with them!
