Dive into the beauty and tranquillity of Makasutu, an ecotourism haven where you’ll explore Gambia’s rich natural landscapes and unique cultural heritage. Your adventure begins with a guided exploration of Makasutu’s diverse ecosystems, home to a variety of birds and animals. Stroll through the lush surroundings as your guide introduces you to the flora and fauna that thrive here. The experience takes on a mystical edge when you meet a traditional fortune teller, offering insights through palm reading, and a palm wine tapper, who will demonstrate the skilful art of climbing palm trees to harvest fresh palm wine. The tour continues with a peaceful boat journey drifting through the waterways past mangrove, spotting colourful bird species, and soaking in the serene ambiance. You’ll see local fishermen casting their nets and oyster collectors.

Visiting one of Gambia's Eco Forest in a beautiful settings. Explore the creek in a canoe (30 -40 mins) and roam the palm forest for 1 or 1 1/2 hrs with chances of wildlife sightings. Meet with some locals who use the forest to practice their trade or culture, such as the fortune teller and the palm wine tapper. Please bring along your swim suite for the use of the swimming pool (if in use at the time)

We depart early to explore both sides of the Gambia (north and south),we drive cross to the North Bank to visit the Wassu Stone Circles, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Drive to Kuntaur to board our boat to explore the River Gambia, a 2-3hrs relaxing cruise. Be on the lookout for Hippos, Crocodiles, Baboons, Monkeys, colourful birds and Chimpanzees. We will be cruising around River Gambia National Park (RGNP) before returning back to Kuntaur for our evening drive to Janjangbureh. (Please note; Chimpanzees are kept on islands and visitors are only allowed to sail around the islands) The next morning, we exploring the Island on foot and depart after lunch towards our hotel On the return journey, if it falls on a market day we would stop to visit a ‘Lumo’ (our weekly African open flea market) an opportunity to witness traditional bartering in this unique setting.Proceed to visit one of the local family compounds to learn about the traditional way of life
