Discovering Chinatown

I havebeen to Chinatown before but had little kowledge of its history and how the Chinese ce to settle there

Wonderful Chinatown

fredrich_g, Feb 2026
Today we explored Bangkok’s Chinatown, spending most of our time wandering through the charming streets of Talat Noi and parts of Song Wat Road. It was such a joy to see a different façade of this beautiful city—rich in history, culture, and hidden corners you’d never discover on your own. Our tour guide, Buay, was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about her city, sharing fascinating stories, local history, and secret gems along the way. Every stop felt meaningful and authentic. Honestly, one day wasn’t enough—we could easily spend two full days exploring Chinatown and still want more. If you’re visiting Bangkok and want to experience its soul beyond the usual sights, a Chinatown tour is an absolute must. 💛

Aom made it right On

keith_m, Oct 2025
How many great things can I say, especially about our guide Aom. Aom took us on a delightful tour that was at a comfortable pace. She gave us a great education about Thailand in general and then took us to major temple which was spectacular. We then visited the dragon temple which was so beautiful. All the while Aom was so friendly and helpful in answering our questions. We went thru areas of Chinatown we would have never knew on our own. Down alleys and on a tuk tuk to see local society. Lunch was delicious and we finished in a wonderful coffee shop that is truly a hidden gem. Aom walked us to a good place to catch our Grab. You will be fortunate to have her as your guide. While getting history information is nice, spending time in her company made it more of a memorable trip

Very interesting tour. Focused not on the touristic part, but also on hidden and unique places. Mai was very professional and super kind!

Not the tour i booked, not tge tour i stayed on to tge end, abd not tge tour i would ever recommend

Ilya_B, Feb 2025
I booked the Chinatown tour, which was supposed to be to be a tour of Chinatown’s streets, markets and daily life. I booked the tour based on the description of the activity and the guided whose reviews promised a genuine un-touristy experience. Well. 80% of Chinatown, with tge exception of touristy areas are shut on Sunday. So the tour, as promoted- would not be possible on that day. Which i why i guess i got a different guide rather than the one advertised. The first stop of the tour was a temple. I told tge guide that this was not tge tour i booked, that i had no interested in spending my only day in Bangkok going into tourist spots and requested that i leave the tour and get a refund. She insisted that this was only one temple stop and that the rest of the tour will follow the tours description. I hesitantly agreed, because i did not yet know that most of the Chinatown was shut that day. Out of the next 3 stops - 2 involved going inside tamples. I left durring the 2nd if those. That is tge difference between the Free Tour and the paid tour. I was charged $50 to be taken on the tour that did not fit the description, was scheduled on the day when tge promiced activity was not deliverable, and despite my repeaded attemps to leave the tour and get a refund - i was continuesly missled. THIS IS A RIP-OFF! I hope this review serves as a warning to the potential future victims of this scam!

We regret that our tour description may have led to a misunderstanding. If you were expecting a shopping tour, it seems there was a misinterpretation. As stated in the tour title, "Small-Group: Unseen Bangkok's Chinatown Walking Tour," this tour is primarily historical, with a visit to Sampeng Market included. However, you chose to leave the tour early. It appears that your main intention was to go shopping, which this tour does not specifically cater to. Given that, requesting a refund does not seem entirely fair to us. If you were in our position, how would you handle such a situation? Additionally, we have received positive reviews from 42 other customers who have taken this tour before. Would you say that they were also misled? Before labeling our company as a scam, did you check the experiences and feedback from previous participants? We always strive to provide clear information and a great experience, and we appreciate all feedback. However, fairness goes both ways, and we hope you can understand our perspective as well.

Fun tour with our guide Mai

Michael_L, Dec 2024
Firstly, the tour company and the guide were very communicative even before the tour began. We were already chatting on WhatsApp to confirm meeting point, etc. We wanted a tour of Chinatown because we felt we’d have a better experience than randomly wandering around on our own. We learned about the history of Chinatown and picked up small bites along the way which we ate in a cozy coffee shop along the way. It was a nice break from the heat to stop and chat with our guide. We had lunch at a popular rolled noodle shop and Mai helped us get sorted on our way back to our hotel. We hopped on an electric tuktuk to the pier. The tour was a lot of fun, plenty of walking and plenty of eating and plenty of breaks in between. I highly recommend this tour.

A Behind the Scene Adventure

Sarah_G, Aug 2024
Lovely experience! I wanted a behind-the-scenes experience of China Town, and I definitely received it. It was exciting seeing the locals and popping in and out of areas where 99% of tourists wouldn't know about.

We are very happy we had this walk with George. Full of knowledge, interesting facts and history of Thailand. Plus a very nice guy. We like non-touristy places and this was definitely it. Superb iced tea and coffee. Great noodle soup too. George, thank you for walking with us and helping with the metro tickets and the translating for Dorota while we were shopping.

Katina_M, Jul 2023
My husband and I had visited Chinatown previously, but we would have never known about the sites in the Talat Noi area without joining this tour. Our guide Gee, was friendly, professional and very informative. She enthusiastically explained about the culture, life and history of the area. We can highly recommend this tour.

This was by far one of the best tours I have done, I was the only one on the tour and thing got change to cater to me. Great explanation and great conversation. Was made to feel like a friend. Even at the end of the tour we still wondered Chinatown and shown great food places to visit. We had the best DimSims. I was then told how close a lot of the places were to my hotel so I could revist

Had an amazing day with my guide Pat. We met as agreed at the BTS station near Sathorn pier and travelled by ferry to China Town. We visited temples, markets, her old school and found a shrine at the top of a police station! Tried Thai coffee and ate fried oysters at a Michelin recommended street food shop. Travelled down through the Chinese food market, down alleys and across busy streets, finally chilling and drinking coffee overlooking the River. I came away with a deeper insight to the Chinese in Bangkok, their history and culture and strength of their community. I would definitely recommend this tour.
