This was a great experience with Seydagar! He has a great sense of humor and was very informative about the sites we visited.
Sonam_S, Nov 2025
Viator’s “All Inclusive” was not all inclusive at all. Misleading titled tour made me fork up another 52 Manat ( about $30 USD) for admissions and lunch. Tour itself was not bad at all.

Never ever book tour in 2 o more languages.
This tour was in Russian and English. The Russian guide spoke and spoke for periods of 20 min or more, the English guide nothing. At one point I was reading for the internet
Response from Host, Sep 2025
Dear Guest,
We sincerely apologize that your experience did not meet your expectations. In some cases, when there are not enough travelers for a group in one language, it is a common practice to combine two languages in order to run the tour. However, we always do our best to make sure this does not affect the quality of the experience and to minimize the feeling of a bilingual tour.
We are truly sorry that this tour did not fully meet your expectations, and we will take your feedback into account to improve our services further.

The bus was not comfotable , we keep each time to ask the driver to turn on the AC , because it was very hot.
Response from Host, Sep 2025
Dear Guest,
We’re really sorry to hear that the bus ride wasn’t comfortable and that you had to keep asking the driver to turn on the AC. We completely understand how unpleasant this can be, especially in the heat, and we apologize for the inconvenience.
We’ve already passed this feedback on to our team so that it won’t happen again in the future. Thank you for letting us know — your comments help us improve and make sure our guests feel well taken care of.

We had a great guide and driver. Lunch was good! A bit confusing with several languages being spoken with quick change. (Our guide masterfully spoke languages!)
Alexandra_B, Jun 2025
The tour guide was nice but very poorly informed.
Below is a list of what was expected on the trip versus what actually happened.
What to expect: "The holy place “Pir Hydyr Zundzha” is located at the foot of the Beshbarmag Mountain, where the travelers stop to perform prayers and worship. Your professional guide will tell you the mythical stories associated with this place."
The guide did not tell any information about this during the trip.
What to expect: "The Guba carpet weaving school."
We never visited this place.
What to expect: "Qachrash Forest: stop for 30 minutes to enjoy the landscape and for photo shoot and drinking Azeri tea (free included the package)"
There was no tea provided.
What to expect: "stop in the Red Town"
We stopped in a parking lot, there was nothing worthwhile to see.
What to expect: "Quba Azərbaycan turalpottery"
We never stopped here.
What to expect: "lunch will be Azerbaijan traditional local foods at local people's home"
The food was poor in quality and quantity.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and for detailing your experience with us.
We sincerely apologize that the tour did not fully meet your expectations. We always aim to provide an accurate and enriching experience based on our advertised itinerary, and we regret that several elements were missing or not up to standard during your trip.
Your comments regarding the lack of information about Pir Hydyr Zundzha, missing stops at the carpet weaving school and turalpottery, the absence of tea at Qachrash Forest, and the disappointing lunch have all been carefully noted. This is not the level of service we strive for.
We have already shared your feedback with our guide and operations team, and we are investigating why these inclusions were not provided as described. Immediate steps will be taken to ensure that future tours deliver the promised experiences and that our guides are better informed and prepared.
We truly value your input as it helps us improve our service. If you are planning to visit Azerbaijan again, please contact us directly — we would be happy to offer you a complimentary experience or alternative tour to restore your faith in our company.
Thank you again for your honest review.
Kind regards,

This is an excellent full Day Tour from Baku…that covers all the highlights of the surrounds of the city. There is definitely no time wasted! Our guide, Sayid, was top-notch- engaging, informative and enthusiastic. I would recommend paying for all tickets and lunch together as it is just easier all round and if you are on the tour, why miss anything? Highly recommend.

Tour covers all places in vicinity of Baku. A little bit fast paced, but the trip is worth it. The tour guide Saiyyed was gem of a guy, he talked a lot about the places we visited passionately. Takes care of parents as well, everyone's comfort as well. Tried to keep things engaging. TOur went on time, he answered all the questions. So, overall great tour, but you might feel like the tour is slightly paced, but you will get ample time to click enough pictures for your perfect Instagram shot

This is the most touristic day tour in Baku. I wish we saw more of the mud volcanoes. You actually just stay around a museum exposing elephant skeletons and giving you little to no fact about the region. In other tours, people went further away around the volcanoes. Gobustan is overcrowded and disorganised. The restaurant is a random one located in a Baku suburb, the food was average but nothing spectacular. The stops at the Ashberon peninsula bring no add-ons to the tour, you can visit them by yourself using Bolt or public transport.
Overall, we lost a lot of time at every stop because some people didn't prebook their tickets. The guide was ok but he didn't seem to enjoy his job. But I can't tell if the service is different with other companies since they all do the same tour with the same price.

Had a good time. But was a very long ride from Baku. Bit underwhelming. Overall ok if you want to go around.
KORNILIA_I, Jan 2025
We took this tour with Seyidağa as the guide and Tuncay as our driver. The tour was great, well-planned and offered a lot of information. The guide was very knowledgable and friendly and made the tour a great experience. However, the rating is low due to the food served as lunch. It was tasteless, cold and the restaurant looked like a typical tourist trap. The good thing was that the lunch can be skipped if someone does not want to have it, but of course we did not know how bad it was until we tried it. I recommend the tour, but definitely OPT OUT thr lunch option. Better to try something else or even bring your own. Hopefully the tour company will decide to change the restaurant soon....

With a day tour, the guide makes or breaks it, and our guide was awesome! Zeyneb was knowledgeable, funny, and kept us all on track. This was a great way to see the sights and learn more about Azerbaijani history.
Rory_G, Oct 2024
The tour guide was quite good and informative. Lunch was a disappointment. The restaurant manager seemed to want the group in and out as fast as possible. Two small courses were not quite enough.
Kolja_G, Oct 2024
The tour was ok, guide was friendly.
BUT What I did not like was that we did not visit the mud volcanos as advertised. There was also no compensation offered by the operator although an essential part of the tour was missing. Very disappointing!
The tour can be booked for half price with operators in Baku Old Town. So for my next visit to Baku I would not use this operator.
V_K, Oct 2024
Sites were interesting but we were in a trip that required three different languages (2 guides) so it was a bit messy. Sometimes some items did not get translated. Van was especially dirty with all the leftover food and wrappings left there from previous outing. Please clean van or better, ask people to take care of themselves.

We booked Baku Gobustan-Absheron full day tour online through Viator, which included the tour cost, all entry fees and lunch. Initially, the bus given to us was small compared to our group size of 15. We had to change it to a bigger bus where we lost tour time; however, our guide Fidan was able to arrange for a bigger and better bus for us. The sightseeing places (Gobustan mud volcano, FIre Temple, FIre Mountain Yanar Dag) were fantastic.
However, we found we paid almost 100% more than our tour mates for the same package. I understand Viator as intermediators, keep a profit margin, but not to this extent. Also, the tour operator ATI travels is not transparent and did not share the payment details and tour inclusions with the guide. While our tour guide was collecting tour money from others, she asked us few times if we had paid, when we had paid fully in advance.
Full marks to our guide Fidan who was very professional; showed us around all the sightseeing places and explained in detail. Even though the tour finished late, she was with us right till the end and was very cheerful all throughout. Will surely recommend her and wish her all the best.

Good: I got to see the mud volcanos [primary purpose of this trip]. The other attractions were gravy. Petroglyphs cool, fire on mountain ok, temple eh.
BaD:
A guide makes or breaks a trip. Our guide was young, inexperienced, and while he certainly knew SOME information- he didn't know A LOT.
He raced us through locations, only for us to somrtimes be early at the next., His common sense in leading people was sorely lacking .
It was- frustrating.
Here's the deal...we paid for a trip with certain expectations of visitation time. We were not allowed that.
All in all- the "idea" of the trip and the potential of the trip is great. Met nice people I got mud volcanos.
Guide needed training. His English is ok. He was fairly happy at start of trip.
Note: did not get information about where and when to meet. Emails were not responded to in a timely fashion. One messagecsaying- thank you for booking we will send you info by 9pm night before your trip- would have been incredibly helpful.
Did i say: Mud Volcanoes are cool?

Off-road trip to mud volcanoes by old Russian cars (Lada) was an unforgettable experience. Lot of fun and high adrenaline.
Margus_P, Sep 2024
Rock paintings, mud volcanoes and Yanardag were very interesting to see. The guide's talk about the history and achievements of the local land was also very exciting.

Enjoyed the tour. Nazperi and Fidah were well versed in Azerbaijani history and culture. Great help from the tour guides.

Guide name : Nazir
Date : 22nd June 24
Extremely bad experience today. Except the powerful AC in the bus, I don't think there was anything good about the tour. Below are issues we faced throughout the day :
1. While the scheduled time for picking us up was 7.50 am in the morning, the bus came at 8.30. This is after the guide, Nazir, confirmed to us at 7.40 that he is on time to pick us up.
2. The guide Nazir was extremely poor in communicating information and during the whole bus journey he didn't give any explanation of the different places. He only kept smoking and talking with the bus driver throughout. He didn't even try to engage with the group.
3. The restaurant, 7 Gozal Restoran, we were taken to for lunch was horrible. The rice that came as part of the set meal was uncooked and meat kebabs were not only cold but tasted like rubber. There was NO soap / hand sanitizer in the washrooms. We left the dirty place hungry..
4. Some of the group members spent 45 min at a location when Nazir had said 5 min of free time. While the rest of us had to wait for them aimlessly in the bus, Nazir kept smoking and didn't even ask those group members to come back fast. It was only when I insisted that we were getting late that he called those guys.
5. When we went to the Gobustan mountain, the driver of car that took us in the old Soviet union car almost hit me when I denied giving him any baksis ( Note that our guide Nazir had told us that we shouldn't give these drivers baksis since the tour company was paying them already )
Overall a horrible experience and would never recommend anyone to do this tour with this company. 10 and half hours of our day wasted full.
Gopakumar_K, Jun 2024
Worth a day trip while in Baku, Gobustan especially if one is interested in petrographs.
Absheron for old silk route stories and restored caravansary fire temple.
Lucian_I, Jun 2024
It is a long but very interesting tour! I didn't feel when time flew by. It wasn't tiring even though it lasted for about 10 hours.
It is so well designed and all the stops are planned very carefully that it makes the day just perfect.
Thank you for everything.
Mike_R, Jun 2024
Good tour taking in the main gobustan sights, mud volcano with thrilling ride to them off road. Nice lunch and yanardag mountain with fire coming from the rocks.
Arthur_S, Jun 2024
From the beginning, pick up and communications were perfect.
Comfortable transportation, clean & good drivers.
Locations we explored were well worth seeing and many great pictures/videos were taken.
But it was not only about viewing, our guide Vusala added so many stars to the day.
From her happy nature, to her knowledge of all locations, presentation and her love for her country.
This is a must tour whilst in Baku, and strongly recommend this company, and hope you are lucky enough to have the same guide.

I have been to more than 50 countries, and used Viator on numerous excellent tours. This tour was terrible from start to finish. Communication regarding pickup was not shared until the evening prior to the tour. The bus was extremely cramped, the driver did not switch the AC on and we were sweating for the duration of the trip. They decided to play loud music for most of the trip. There was no toilet break until 3.5 hours into the tour. They made us stop at a old supermarket, and said there's no toilets until 11:30am. The best part was the drive to the Mud volcanoes. Some reviewers said that the driving was scary, we did not feel this, but it was annoying when they tried to cramp 4 adults in a car that can clearly only take 3. When we objected, they moved an adult to another car, thereby separating them from their family. We walked in Gobustan for 20 minutes, then the guide decided to miss the museum because he said it was not worth it. The guide was not interested and barely spoke for the duration of the trip. He had his head in his hands for most of the trip and seemed like he hated his job. He did not tell us how long we had in each stop so he needed to go find other members every time, or just wait around. We arrived back at 6:45pm which annoyed another couple as they needed to be in the airport for 7pm. The restaurant was excellent, and the food was plentiful and good quality. (7gozel restaurant). To understand what this tour does: You go to Gobustan, then back to Baku for lunch, then Absheron in the opposite direction of Gobustan. In Absheron, other tours allowed people to do mountain rides and scooter rides, but ours did not give us time for this. Honestly, I would stay away from this tour. I wish I did another tour or a private tour.

I need to start this off by saying I'm a very low maintenance person that is easily impressed. An experience truly has to have some low points for me to feel anything negative about it.
To start- the tour started 2 hours late and was blamed on traffic caused by the president commuting to work- which he does at the same time and same route each day so it didn't really make sense.
Other's have pointed this out in their reviews but the Lada trip to the mud volcanos was not ideal. The guy was going 110Kmh (70mph) on recently rained on muddy gravel roads. We saw other cars that had flipped so the danger was real. No seat belts. The volcanoes were not interesting which is not the tours fault but definitely not worth the drive there.
Another negative was the lada driver aggressively asking for a tip after the experience- which I declined- but our tour guides scolded the people who did give in and give the guys a tip. They said it was bad and encouraged them to continue with their bad behavior- but our guides did not tell us this beforehand.
The guides on the trip weren't great and overall most sites weren't interesting. Do not recommend.
Kathryn_R, May 2024
This tour takes you to some of the top spots around Baku.
I would not book through this company again. The tour guide said our group was "way too large" and lost track of the group regularly, including leaving a guest at one of the attractions.
The guide (English-speaking) seemed uninformed and couldn't answer what seemed to be basic questions. He seemed uninterested in providing insights beyond what was relatively obvious, and likely part of a script. A Russian-speaking guide was also in our vehicle, and he provided about three times more information to the Russian speakers in our group. At the Gobustan museum, it is well signed, and it might have been easier for the guide to simply give us 30 minutes to enjoy the museum on our own instead of fighting through crowds to hear his commentary that wasn't very insightful. I recommend this company hire people who care about sharing Azerbaijan with foreigners, and don't just see it as a way to make some money on the weekends. Lastly, this tour is marketed to foreigners. Operate at foreign standards, meaning, guides refrain from smoking inside the restaurant at lunch.
Imran_S, May 2024
The tour was great with the Mud Volcanoes, Gobustan, and the Fire Temple really worth visiting. The included lunch was also good with many portions and responding to dietary restrictions. The tour guide Sebuhi was really good and provided great information and details along the way. Overall a great tour of places outside of Baku
Rosalie_P, May 2024
The most memorable, but not in a good way, was the nightmare journey in a so-called 4WD Russian Lada, with a maniacal driver, out to the unimpressive ‘little volcanoes’ which in reality was bubbling mud. We’d much rather pay more to be driven in a safe and actual, 4WD vehicle such as we saw other visitors being driven in. Not only was our driver using his mobile phone to make calls and text whilst driving with one hand at full speed on wet and extremely bumpy dirt roads but he was also verbally abusing other drivers in deafening volume. The four of us passengers yelled at him numerous times to slow down and stop texting but he totally ignored us saying he did this every day. One day, there will be a terrible accident, most likely with lives lost. The front passenger seat was tied up with string to limit movement and there were no seatbelts for the passengers. In Australia the vehicle would not be allowed on our roads. This driver, and all the other ones for this part of the trip, were 40 minutes late to pick us up from our bus, making a long day even longer. Our bus driver was very safe and kept to the road rules and our young guide, Emin Gulmammadli, was very good with great English language skills and knowledge of the history of the places we visited. The tour manager for the company that Viator engaged for this tour was actually overseeing our trip and came with us on the bus. We first met him while we were waiting for our bus to arrive in the morning when he came up to us and asked if we had any tissues. He then asked us which tour we were doing and who with. On being told we booked with Viator, he didn’t know the name and told us it was a VERY boring day trip! He was very surprised when he saw us get on his bus and backtracked by saying it was a great tour. We weren’t very impressed with his attitude and along with the terrifying side trip to the mud volcanoes, we feel that Viator will get a bad name by allowing passengers lives to be put at risk. It’s not just us complaining about this, everyone on the tour had similar experiences to us and all were complaining bitterly after they got back. One young man was even prepared to jump out of his window if he had to. We have a video of the last couple of hundred metres, but it was flat road at that stage and nothing can really describe the experience apart from being there. I have booked six day trips through Viator for our 5 week holiday and certainly hope that our final two will be trouble free. Rosalie Pearson
