Candy Cane Mountain was serene. The trip to Guba Khinalig took a few hours. Travelling in April is cold--quite windy too! Bring warm clothes and wear comfy shoes. One of World Heritage Sites, Guba Khinalug is worth the trip--with beautiful snow-capped mountains and an equally peaceful village. The road was adventurous--so brace your heart!

The Candy Cane Mountains are a good thing to see, Guba is no too impressive, but all that get compensated by an extremely enjoyable drive through the snowy mountains to Khinalig. It was great, with astonishing views and great landscapes.

Had a great time traveling to the mountains, our driver Samir was very friendly and considerate. The views were incredible and we got lovely historical information along the way. Teşekkür Samir!

The tour through the mountains was really amazing. Our guide was very cool and shared a lot of good information about the sites. Lunch up in the mountain village was also a great experience.

A beautiful trip to the mountains, highly recommended! Namig was a great tour guide. He took lots of photos for us and gave some fun facts.

The best experience of Baku..I must say! Thanks to our guide Namig and the driver (s), it was no short of an adventure through the northern peaks of Azerbaiçan. The first stop at Candy cane mountains was a Mars experience of a sort. And then when we entered Quba, the forest envoloped us. From here it was extraordinary until Khinalug at 4 degrees or less. We had lunch at one of the village houses. I never knew Azerbaiçan had galciers. Wow!!! Do what you want to do in Azerbaiçan but NEVER miss this experience.

a truly unique experience, to see the vast mountain range in all its beauty and glory, breathe the fresh clean air and then visit a 4000 year old village is one of those once in a life experiences. Our tour guide Namig was great at sharing the history and seamlessly organising the full day while our driver Kerem was very skilled in navigating the terrain and getting us there and back safely. A must do if you’re visiting Baku.

This was a great experience. The road and the scenery were very dramatic; but best of all was the chance to see the village and the people and be guests in their home. A rare privilege, highly recommended.

It’s a long way for a short visit but the experience and scenery in the mountains made it worthwhile. Trip to candy cane wasn’t worth the journey but lunch at the village was nice. Unfortunately the bridge over the river near the village was down so we had a detour in an old jeep to cross the river that did not comply with any HSE standards, but, was memorable.
Comfort breaks at the same cafe there and back were a scam, high prices and horrendous toilet facilities. Why?
It’s a 12 hour trip in total, nice people in the group and with just 6 of us in the minivan it was comfortable.

trying my best to use bestest words to express my experience. It was not just beautiful but heartwarming as well. Although I was travelling solo but how Tamig was there for me it was simply amazing. Thank you dear you were definitely doing more for a guide. Thank you for being caring through out the journey.
Last but not the least Our Driver… Thank you for being kind and thoughtful. 🙏
May Allah Bless them Always

One of the best days of our Azerbaijan trip. We were picked up right from our hotel in a comfortable minivan. Our guide was polite, welcoming and informative. We had multiple stops for snacks, coffee and photos. Entire journey was beautiful with breathtaking views.
Dining with a local family was the highlight of our trip. Cozy people with delicious food.

All in all very nice and authentic experience, relaxed atmosphere and a knowledgeable guide. The food in the village was very delicious, as were also the qutabs at one of our stops.

Spectacular and safe mountain road, unpretentious village famous because of its altitude, warm hospitality in a local house. Guide very good; driver got us back to Baku at a reasonable hour. One strange thing — the "official" photo of Khinalug on Viator's website doesn't look like Khinalug. So I uploaded my own photo, showing what the village really looks like.

The guide, Samir, was great, the other group members were loads of fun, the food was good, and the mountain landscape was beautiful.
DIVYA_B, Sep 2023
Actually seeing village life and enjoying the localness was just amazing. The people were so welcoming as were the dogs, cats and chickens!

This is a long day trip out of Baku (12 hours) but well worth the effort. The route up into the mountains was breathtaking, with regular stops provided for refreshments and photos. Dining with a local family was an enjoyable and memorable experience.

Very Long day with no free time at all. Long time on bus with just brief photo stops. Interesting to see life in the north of the region and picturesque mountains. The lunch in the family home was excellent.
Slight issue was I requested a hotel pick up which happened but on return was just dropped in central area quite late at night which was quite a way from hotel.

Far exceeded my expectations. Spectacular scenery in the Caucasus mountains highlighted by an excellent lunch with a mountain village family. If you are looking for an authentic experience in Azerbaijan this is it. Excellent value for a memorable experience.

The area was amazing. A must see. Launch was great. Small group (3 people). One thing I dislike tho was the guide speaking mostly Russian language. Even the tour was booked in english… 80% of it was spoken in Russian :( I felt a bit excluded, even the guide translated the important points he was having a conversation in Russian all the road trip in which I was unable to understand

This trip was amazing! Everything was punctual and well organised and the guide (Alex) was very friendly. The visit to the village is a really unforgettable experience that I recommend for everyone. It was done safely in the car and the lunch was enjoyable at a local's home.

It was an absolutely amazing trip with Jaycop and best driver. No need words for the view of mountain. Very worthy of money and time!
Krit_J, Nov 2022
The trip was stunning. The guide took us to the village in the very high altitude and stopped many points for us to take photo. We had a lot of good experience and nice lunch. However, the guide did not talk much so we might not learn much about the history of the village and the area we visited.

The visit to the landscape of the Caucasus mountain ranges, Khinalug village. Our guide Said was impressive and very knowledgeable. The Saha Hadid building was very impressive, love that Said met her in person.
Matthew_G, Oct 2022
The scenery at Khinalug was amazing. Lunch was delicious and our guide, Said was very knowledgeable!

Pick up me and other in the city after we start the long trip. Sometimes we stop to the toilet. After guba we arrived the forest area is so beautiful and the horses is cute. After start the hardcore road trip to river bed, "colorado", eagle peak and to khinaliq.
Lunch is delicious, but after say need pay the lunch, but write is include the trip. So is bad point. Other bad point we not stop the five fingers mountains, I ask, but we just across the way.

This tour was absolutely great. The tour guides were very nice and friendly. The food was awesome, it really was. The tour is very nice and easy and I would definitely recommend it to anyone. Been at the highest elevation of village is very cool and calming.

Elmar was a super nice guide and the trip was amazing. The landscape was absolutely stunning! I can highly recommend this trip.

I was picked up from the double gates to start the tour. Stopped at a supermarket outside of baku to refuel with drinks and breakfast. First stop was the Mountain Beshbarmag. Then stopped in the forest for a break. On the way to Khinalug, several stops were made for photo opportunities and to refresh one self with the surrounding scenary. Khinalug was a very remote spot in azerbaijan with phenomenal scenic views on the way. Tour guide (Alex) was friendly and accommodating. Food at Khinalug was nice and value for money (12 manat) considering how remote the place was. On the way back to Baku a few additional stops were made for photo opportunities.

This tour was a highlight, the scenery is beautiful and seeing the local village, with lunch in a local's home was very cool. Excellent tour guide who gave great explanations and overall very well run with clear communications. Can't recommend enough!

Wow. Canyons, tea with walnut jam, sheep’s cheese, beautiful sights, incredible people, remote villages.
We had an amazing time. The guide was respectful and knowledgeable and always welcomed questions.
It was fun, adventurous, and a trip we’ll never forget.
