A private tour is definitely the way to go for this WW1 Experience.
Our guide, Alison, was spectacular ✨
She had such a wealth of knowledge of the tactics of the war, how the soldiers were positioned, and she showed us a many cemeteries and how they were different.
This was honestly a life changing experience.

Alison is a very engaging tour guide.
We did a brief visit to the CWGC Visitor Centre and got an overview of the important work that the CWGC does.
Alison explained/pointed out lots as we visited various sites of conflict and various memorials scattered around the Somme.
By visiting other memorials first, you are able to truly appreciate the masterpiece that is the Vimy Memorial. It is unlike most other memorials and it is particularly moving.
I highly recommend this tour and Alison as your guide.

Diane, our tour guide was outstanding! We could not have asked for more. We were 4 adults and she drove us to many of the Canadian memorial sites and adjusted it slightly due to the weather and it worked out perfectly. She was very knowledgeable & friendly and we had a few good laughs throughout our day. We were extremely impressed and appreciative that she took time prior to looking up a family member and shared all the details for us to take with us; wow!
This was an outstanding private tour and well worth the cost and our time.
We highly recommend!

Very moving to see all the lives sacrificed. It can be pretty cold at Vimy when the wind is blowing. Dress appropriately.

We had an excellent tour of Vimy with Jon. He readily answered questions. He was familiar with the fighting a great uncle would have done with very little advance information. Jon shared stories of soldiers that made the experience real.

Thank you, Jon very much appreciates you taking time to write this lovely review

We had a great day with John! Not only is he very knowledgeable about the wars and the region, he explains it in a way that you can imagine it all. John also took the time to get some information about both my grandfather’s WW1 tours and went to some of their posts, it felt that I was walking with them. Could not have asked for a better day!

This was the highlight of our trip to France. Alison was an amazing guide, researched a family member and showed us the key spots in their story alongside the broader tour which gave us a great sense of what the Canadians did at the Somme and Vimy. Can't recommend this highly enough. Thanks Alison!

Jon (my guide) was a fountain of information. I had mentioned that I was going to visit the grave of my Great Uncle and he dug up all the available information that was known about him. The Commonwealth Graves Commission has kept all the cemeteries in pristine condition. Vimy Ridge was fantastic. The number of unknown soldiers was a somber moment as they may male up 1/3 of the graves. Well worth every penny.

Simply put this was the best tour I have ever been on. Expertly crafted by Alison this tour is a must for any World War 1 buff. Or for anyone curious about learning about the war. She custom makes the tour based off your needs and there was not a stop on there where I went this is filler. She picked a great place for lunch as well. Every Canadian who travels to France should go to Vimy Ridge and honor our soldiers. Next time I am in France I will do this tour again it was that good. If you're on the fence about booking this don't be.

So many to say, we are so happy that we did the tour this way we saw so much more than we would have if we had done it on our own. We liked how we were picked up at our hotel and driven around and John showed us so much more than we expected.
Our sons gave this to their Dad as his Fathers Day gift. It was the best gift ever.

We had a wonderful tour guide in Alison. She was charming and very knowledgeable. Her insights were amazing and it made us feel we were right in the action. Vimy Ridge was of course our biggest highlight. It rained all day but we wouldn't have missed this tour for all the tea in China. Thanks Alison for a wonderful experience! K and N.

Alison took us to the Commonwealth Cemetery offices/ shop where we had a tour and explanation of the design, headstone making and gardening details of cemeteries in France. It was very informative. Our highlight was Vimy Ridge, which was exhilarating. Somewhere we have wanted to see. Alison had lots of very good information for us. We enjoyed our day with her!
Response from Host, Nov 2023
Many thanks , I enjoyed my day with you too
Marina_C, Aug 2023
The small details!! Alison knew that we were Canadian, so she made sure to highlight many Canadian grave stones and many other points while explaining the history of the area.
Eating lunch outside of the Vimy Ridge centre.
Alison picked us up from the Arras train station which was so convenient for us.
She is an incredibly pleasant person who was easy to talk to and fun to be around!
