I highly recommend Michael. He was reliable, on time and a wonderful tour guide. The whole experience was very smooth. He also took us to numerous cemeteries and points of interest on the way to and from Vimy Ridge and gave us a lot of extra information and history of the area.

Super convenient. Michel met us at the Arras train station, drove us to Vimy where we had the right amount of time to wander around to experience it and then picked us up and took us back to Arras (with a couple of cemetery visits along the way) in time for the train back to Paris.

Our driver/guide Michel was excellent—picked us up right on time and advised us as to what to do and what to see upon arrival at the Vimy Ridge Memorial. We took different routes to and from our destination. Michel provided a historical perspective as well as insight into the ongoing ties between Canada and France. We visited Commonwealth cemeteries and noted difference amongst the resting places of Commonwealth/French/German soldiers. Merci beaucoup, Michel!

Michel is a very knowledgeable guide who has a deep interest in history, perfect for this tour. We appreciated seeing the different military cemeteries on both the trip out and back; this deepened our knowledge. The Canadian WW1 memorial at Vimy is extremely moving and well worth visiting.

This is a beautiful and memorable memorial, by far it is better than the memorial at Normandy Beach for either Canada or US.

Had I known I was just being driven up to Vimy Ridge I would have driven myself. 80 euros for a taxi there and back was what it was. He didn’t even encourage me to get out of the car to look at cemeteries.

Michel was a wonderful guide with extensive knowledge of the Canadian cemeteries, monuments, and experiences. The pick-up did not go well as we didn't receive his latest emails and he didn't receive mine. So we look a taxi to Vimy Ridge and Michel ended up meeting us there. His recommendations on how to visit the site were valuable. He shared important stories and stopped at two cemeteries on our return.

Our guide Michel was very good at communicating from the beginning of our booking. When asked if we could go a bit earlier than our booking, he was flexible and accomodating. We received so much information of historical sites, general information of Arras. on our return from vimy to our drop off location, Michel took a different route to show us further sites such as commonwealth & German cemetery. He tailored the tour to accommodate both in French and for my husband who only spoke English. This was greatly appreciated,
I could not recommend more as a guide, worth every penny. Had we not have to continue with our trip, we would have probably hired for a different tour.

We just finished our trip to Vimy Ridge from the train station in Arras and Michel was the final piece in a great day. He communicated well (in English if you need it). He was on time and his car was clean and included bottled water for us.
On the way he pointed out sites of interest and gave us some good tips about the Vimy Ridge Memorial.
When we were done he was on time and returned us to Arras via a different route and pulled over a few times to point out sites of interest. He was born in this area and has a good perspective on things.
At the end he dropped us off about 10 minutes from the train station in the town plaza (which is beautiful). We got to have french pastries and take a leisurely walk through the town back to the train station.
I would recommend Michel and his company for any transportation needs in the Arras area. Merci, Michel!

Michel picked me up on time from my hotel. Then transported me in his car to Vimy Ridge. Gave me information about the area we were travelling, and what to expect at Vimy Ridge. Told me where to go for my tour and and other details that I needed. Arranged to meet back up after my tour at Vimy. The volunteer guides at Vimy Ridge were excellent, and very knowledgeable. So good exploring the tunnels and trenches there. Then you can walk upto the monument and visit the 2 cemetries. On the way back, Michel stopped at a large French cemetery and then at a large German cemetery. Michel was very friendly and full of knowledge, and made the tour very enjoyable. Even though the tour was 3 hours, it was not rushed and time was not a problem.

As Canadians we were sure to include a stop at Vimy Ridge to our time in France. We had a rental car so we did have the option to drive there on our own, but we knew the Visitor's Centre was closed for January so we thought by hiring a driver we might learn some information to make up for the closure.
Michel was friendly and knowledgeable. His English is heavily accented, but we had no issue communicating. He arrived on time to our AirBnB in Lens and he drove us to the Vimy Memorial, giving us some information along the way. He did mention that it's better to stay in Arras due to the history there, but we did not know this when booking.
He drove us around the Vimy site to give us an understanding of the area and then left us to explore on our own for a couple hours (he does not tour the area with you). As said, the visitor centre was closed for January, but we were able to visit the trenches (not the tunnels - you need a guide), the cemeteries and the memorial. A security guard stopped to speak with us for awhile about the area and that was helpful and appreciated.
Once Michel returned, he drove us around the area to see additional cemeteries (French and Commonwealth) and a couple other notable sites, while giving us some interesting information. We were returned to our AirBnB at the end (total of 3hrs).

Yes, visiting Vimy is always a bit special in January. That's it, the visitors has been open again since the bigginning of February and this month you will be able to meet the Canadian guides who can show you around the underground passages. Only they can do it. I am at your disposal next time to take you to Beaumont-Hamel - NewFounland memorial

Vimy Ridge is a place most Canadians wish to visit. We were happy to be able to book a tour on a date that worked for us with the rest of a 15 day trip to France. Michel Bernard met us in Arras and drove us to the Vimy Memorial site with instructions as to how to tour the grounds on our own. He went beyond expectations in providing us with his own umbrellas (stopping by his house to pick them up) as we had forgotten to bring any from Paris. Michel picked us up at the appointed time afterwards and drove us back to Arras with explanations of various elements of the area on the way. Superb personalized service.

Michel was an excellent driver. Good communication in advance and met us promptly at both meet up times. He also took the time to speak to my relatives in English while conversing with me in French (and being patient with my errors!) Also took the time on the way back to show us some of the nearby cemeteries and monuments and to share his knowledge of the local area and its history and his experiences with the Vimy site. Highly recommend!
