We were genuinely disappointed with our tour guide. It felt as though his primary focus was on persuading us to purchase oils at the aromatherapy shop, rather than allowing us ample time to fully experience the magnificence of the Pyramids, which were undoubtedly the highlight of our trip. We caught a glimpse of the Sphinx from a distance, but I had to insist on getting closer to the Great Pyramid. Finally, after some persistence, we managed to approach it for a brief five minutes. The guide seemed more eager for us to snap quick pictures from afar and rush off to the next stop. The only moments during the tour when we felt truly relaxed were while we were buying oils or at the souvenir shop. It’s a shame, really, as the Pyramids deserve so much more than a fleeting visit.

We booked a private tour, just the two of us, hoping we would be able to see as much as possible. First off, you will meet Let’s Explore Egypt outside of the port gates. It’s kind of a hike. Just look for a person holding a sign. Our guide was Abel? She was very informative. She grabbed us some drinks and snacks immediately for the long drive. I wanted to do the pyramids first to avoid the heat. She stated that we would do the GEM museum first. Abel, was extremely knowledgeable of the artifacts in the museum, but we were rushed. She took lots of nice pictures of us in there. Then they took us to an expensive store for shirts. After shopping we went to a buffet restaurant. It was a great place with wonderful food. She then took us to another store where they tried to sell us bracelets. We said no, we just want to see the pyramids. She tried to convince us to go to see another place before going to the pyramids. We explained that we paid for this trip and didn’t want to go anywhere but the pyramids. She then agreed and we finally made it to the pyramids. We did get our 30 minute camel ride and the person that walked us to the most memorable photos and videos. Abel then took us to walk around the pyramids. She was wonderful at keeping all the people trying to sell things away from us. The problem was that it was already 2pm at this time and the heat was unbearable. I could not physically enjoy more than an hour of walking around. I wish I would have demanded to go see the pyramids first. Lesson learned.
It’s a great trip with a knowledgeable guide. If you opt for the private tour, put your foot down and skip the stores, if that’s what you want. There is plenty of shopping at the dock when you get off the ship. Enjoy Egypt!!

A great tour with a very friendly and knowledgeable guide (Mostafa) . It is a long drive but worth it

It’s a good trip…only thing we disagree was when we were taken to the store of souvenir, oil and paper which is not suppose to be included in the tour….for us It’s a waste of time.

So I’m giving this 5 stars because of the support staff… the tour guide, his coworker and the driver. All were great. Everything was fast because, hey, it’s a group tour of something you could spend a week doing. The museum was amazing, and our guide (whose name I don’t remember, more on that later) was a wealth of knowledge. The lunch was great and the shopping was what I expected. I’m not a shopper.
The one criticism I have was the lack of communication from the tour company. This is our first cruise and we didn’t understand where to meet the bus or our tour guide’s name, which is important because there were multiple Let’s Explore Egypt buses. We sat on the wrong bus for at least 30 minutes, and we asked if we were on the right bus about 3 times and were told yes. Finally they realized something was wrong and figured it out but it caused a delay for everyone. All of this was avoidable. So management, get yourselves together. If we received a simple note saying “go across bridge, meet your tour guide Amun” (not his name… I don’t think) we would have figured it out.
Again, the tour was awesome. Logistics? Not very good.

Our driver Andrew, was wonderful- talked to us during our long drive to Giza from Alexandria- explaing stuff we were seeing along the way.
When we picked up our guide - whose name was " Sayed" I believe- near Giza, he introduced himself then talked to the driver until we reached the pyramids.
Sayed/ our guide rushed us along at the pyramids. He was disappointed that we did not go on the camel walk- which I thought would give us a few extra minutes at the pyramids. Instead he walked fast, rushed thru basic explanations- kept wanting to take our pictures as we explained we just wanted some time to take in the moments- finally being face to face with these amazing pyramids. We had zero moments alone at the pyramids. We hurried by the Sphinx and then he was ready to leave. Again he issued disappointment that we didn't want to waste time at a papyrus place or cartouche seller- NEITHER was ever on our agenda. So we went to lunch- then to the Grand Egyptian Museum. And again, our guide rushed us thru some of the exhibits. He has an "I know it all" attitude, but did not answer basic questions, like "what year was the Ptolemy period?" He just said it was "New Kingdom". We had a hard time keeping up with him at the museum- it was like he was in a rush to end our day.
We finally got 10 minutes to ourselves by going in the gift shop. When we came out empty handed, he brought up his tip possibilities.
Overall, we spent 5.75 hours with our wonderful driver, Andrew, and 5 hours with our guide. Sayed. That didn't come close to 12 or 13 hours- and seems very lopsided. And again after we left the museum, our guide only spoke to our driver in non English- and ignored us. Our guide, Sayed, wouldn't listen to what WE wanted for our day- he had his own agenda. He even told me not to wear my head scarf in the lunch restaurant. He ruined our once in a lifetime visit to the pyramids.
Our wonderful driver, Andrew, carefully made his way thru the crazy traffic jams, with grace and positivity. He made our day better. I would be rating our tour as ZERO stars if not for Andrew- that's how bad Sayed made the experience for us.

Our guide Mina provided a personable and informative tour experience. So grateful to have his expertise and shared time together touring Alexandria.

We arrived early for our tour and found out we had a 10 minute walk to outside the port to meet up. We arrived before our meet up time and waited over an hour. The tour company did not answer their phones or texts. We waited in the dark. When we contacted viator they could not reach to tour provider either. Luckily there was a nice man from another company and we booked a tour with him. Before we left someone from this company showed up and our name was not on the list of booked tours for the day- but they hae happily taken our money. Stay away from booking with this company. Here's hoping we get our money

I’ve always trusted Viator to provide a quality tour experience but this was not the case with this trip. From the start, I tried to contact the tour operator to confirm the meeting location but they never responded. Then after calling the company and many messages later, a driver arrived 45 minutes late in a small sub compact car. There were seven of us who had all booked this tour but only one car was there. After more time, finally a second car arrived, and the seven of us were squeezed into the two vehicles The tour advertised a large modern vehicle, which this was not. The driver barely spoke English, so it was difficult to communicate with him. Once we arrived in Giza, there seem to be confusion about meeting up with the guide. When we did, the three of us in the car had to cram into the backseat to make room for the driver. He did not greet us or speak to us initially. When he finally did, his English was extremely hard to understand, and it was clear that he did not understand us very well either. Throughout the day, he did not offer much information about the sites but mostly provided photo ops. The guide was very nice, just not very thorough or efficient with our time. We were never offered any water as described. He did not seem to be aware of the included camel ride. Once we finally did that we were seriously harassed for tips from the camel guide. It would’ve been very helpful if our tour guide would have forewarned us about this and perhaps suggested an appropriate tip for the camel guide. It was an awkward situation. Later, we were taken to an essential oil place that was not on our agenda. It was nice, but nothing I was interested in and they seemed annoyed that we did not purchase anything. We finally went to “lunch“ at 4:15 PM which was quite late. Again, the guy did not explain any of the food we were having on the buffet, which would have enhanced the experience. Also, we were not aware that drinks and tips for the meal we’re not included. When a meal is “included” in our trip I believe that a drink and gratuity should be included. We were then told that we’d run out of time so we could not go Sakkara. Our particular itinerary included the.GEM. I understand it is closed, but no one made us aware of that. I specifically booked this tour because of the museum and would have perhaps chosen a different one had I known the museum was closed. I believe a partial refund is in order since we did not go to the museum nor did we go to.Sakkara. Had we skipped the essential oil place and the guide had been more efficient with his time. Perhaps we could have made the final itinerary point. Seeing the pyramids and the Sphinx were spectacular, but the tour guide and the driver were not good at all. I do not think you should promote. Let’s explore Egypt as a tour company. Very disappointing day.
michaelg_s, Aug 2025
It was a great experience. It would have been better if driver would have spoken English so we could visit with him about the area and what we would experience during the day since it was a 3 hour drive each way.

Very disorganized to find them for transportation when get off of the ship. Lots of bus time. Very hot at the destination.

We loved seeing the pyramids, but this was the worst Viator tour we have ever been on. We were not told where to meet the group. My messages were not answered. The tour guide moved the start of our tour up an hour but did not communicate that to us. The tour bus was old with an AC system that didn’t work well. Once we got to the pyramids we were on a time limit. We had 3 minutes at the Sphinx. We were not able to walk around it. At the pyramids we had 15-20 minutes and we only had time to walk up to one pyramid. At the camel ride we were told it would be a 30 minute ride around the pyramids. We were on the camels for about 10 minutes and separated from our group. We chose this tour because of the Grand Egyptian Museum. The tour guide only gave us 30 minutes to explore the museum. However we were at a jewelry/gift store without a time limit. We went to a papyrus store without a time limit. We stopped at an oil store, again, with no time limit. It was 45 minutes to an hour at all the stores. This should have been a tour filled with incredible memories. Additionally our tour guide left the tour three hours before we got back to our ship.

Pyramids are incredible and the Grand Egyptian Museum exceeded expectations. The guides were super knowledgeable and took excellent care of us - specifically providing guidance on tipping (as everyone has their hand out in Egypt). Too much time was wasted at shopping. Shopping for head scarves and shopping for trinkets/souvenirs and then shopping at for Papyrus and then shopping for herbs and oils - 3 stops could have been consolidated to one stop and saved 2 hours. Tour definitely moved on Egypt time and not American time - 5 Egyptian minutes really means 25 minutes.
Lorry_G, Jun 2025
Very long and tiring but very informative. The camel ride was advertised for 30 minutes and lasted barely 5 minutes. Got on the camel and walked maybe 30 ft and then it was done so that was clearly false advertising The lunch was delicious and gave a good sampling of Egyptian food.

Would highly recommend booking this tour. Our guide Sam was very knowledgeable and if you can I would book him as your guide. Helped with every transition and explained the culture and artifacts to a high knowledge and back ground. Our driver was very good at navigating the streets and keeping us safe.

I was met by my driver and Dr. Mohamed Youssef, a world renowned Egyptologist and archeologist. We visited the Pappyrus Museum, the pyramids and museum and sphinx. I rode the camel. It was an incredible day. I learned so much, it was overwhelming. I had an incredible experience.
Sophie_B, Sep 2025
It was our first time in Egypt and we chose this experience for a chance to discover the pyramids and see Cairo in one day. Our guide Sam was very attentive and took care of everything. Thanks to him, we had a wonderful day, everything went perfectly.
