Itinerary

Start with 8am pickup at your Alexandria hotel, and begin the 137-mile (220-km) trip to Cairo in a private vehicle. Make the first stop of the day at the Giza Plateau, where the pyramids of Cheops, Khafre, and Menkaure stand at the edge of the desert. Continue to the nearby Sphinx, which was carved directly from bedrock, and commands perfect views of the pyramids.

Take a break for lunch at a local restaurant, then visit the Egyptian Antiquities Museum, which houses the world’s largest collection of pharaonic antiquities. Visiting with a guide ensures that you’ll discover the highlights of the many exhibits, including the treasures found in Tutankhamun’s tomb in the Valley of the Kings.

The final stop of the day is the Khan Al Khalili bazaar, the perfect place to browse for Egyptian souvenirs. Wander through aisles of stalls stocked with leather goods, textiles, perfume, and spices, and brush up your bargaining skills with help from the guide. This 12-hour tour concludes with return transfer to Alexandria, and drop-off at your hotel.

Great tour, much better value than the ship’s offerings. Ahmed was a great driver, a real adventure in Cairo. Islam was our guide, really knew the history. He gave a great tour of the Egyptian Museum and pyramids & sphinx. He tried to steer us away from the Khan el khali bazaar-we insisted on it and bought several great souvenirs there! Overall a great experience, I highly recommend this excursion.

Ok tour with too many upsales

Edwin_B, Sep 2025
This is a really long day, ours ran from 7am to 8pm. We did get to see the pyramids of Giza, the as phinx, Egyptian museum and had a wonderful lunch on the banks of the Nile. However, we found the several stops at over-priced stores "just for the experience, no need to buy anything" really detracted from the day, as each time we politely declined to buy we received odd looks and various comments to include "you're breaking my heart". My suggestion would be to tell your guide upfront that you have zero interest in any shopping or experiences outside of the official itinerary.

Uniquely good experience

Vasile_Z, Sep 2025
This tour was well designed, reasonably priced, and perfectly executed. Everything promised was delivered. Mahmoud, our artist-driver, with his charming smile was a real pleasure to spend time with during the long return trip. Mohammed showed vast knowledge of Egyptology and was extremely attentive to our needs and particularly flexible in responding to our requests. Thank you for a wonderful day.

Good trip with a good guide.

Our tour leader is a professional guide Rumani (Ru). He lead us to visit pyramids and went through Egypt museum with clearly knowledge. The most important thing is that he knows to make good points of ancient pieces. The van was also good which was important for 3 hours driving time in one way. The tour is worthy.

Kidnapped to Cairo

peterasev, Aug 2025
Don't book this tour with Viator. Emo travel have no identification at port exit and don't have your name printed anywhere to show you. I did not want to get in the car they offered me on my own with no English spoken by the driver. It looked like a dirty Kia Cerato Uber car. There was no seatbelt clasp to put the belt in the back seat so I sat in the dirty front seat with no A/C all the way to Cairo with my head blown by the wind. After thar the Guide was OK when the driver eventually found him up in the flithy back streets of Cairo. The activities were OK and the lunch good. Unfortunately the guide the next day in Alexandria refuted most of the statistical information Acmat had given me in Cairo. The journey back was pleasant in an airconditioned clean newish car, as the guide had arranged it.

A fantastic day tour of Cairo from Alexandria

Theresa_T, Aug 2025
Our tour guide Islam and Mohammad the driver made this whole day tour smooth, comfortable, informative and educational. The pyramids were unbelievably magnificent after all these years. The museum has many mummies that were well preserved over thousands of years. After being out in the hot sun, the most welcome drink was the freshly squeezed sugar juice, so thirst quenching and refreshing, very thoughtful of our tour guide. Egyptian buffet lunch was very good. We truly enjoyed this tour.

I found this to be very sketchy at first. After a short walk from the port to the gates you will see several tour operators with various signs. My name was written on a piece of paper (not very professional) held by a man who didn’t speak English who was our driver. When we arrived at our car the driver gave me his phone to talk to our guide who at first told us we were not going to the pyramids. This was our soul purpose of going to Giza. Our guide did however manage to resolve this. We didn’t meet up with our guide for almost an hour. We were driven out of Alexandria to Cairo over 1 1/2 hours. This information would have been helpful to know prior to getting into the car and putting us more at ease.

Great experience and price!

We visited the pyramids, sphinx, museum and the market. Our guide was very knowledgeable about history and was interesting. Our driver took good care of us.

Day trip to the Coptic Churches of Egypt.

Helen_D, Apr 2025
Our trip was absolutely fantastic. Ahmed our driver was gracious & kind. Hoping he'll get better with English, rather than using Google translation, so he can interact with the clients better. Also hoping he could come into the ports, like other tour companies that do, because the walk to gate # 10, was far specially for my wife who uses a cane to walk. Viator, pls arrange that next time, worldwide. We've had similar situations in other countries before, too. But if viator pays a few bucks more, it can be arranged, like all other tour companies. Thanks Norman & Helen D'Silva

Good experience with a room for improvement

Hazem_E, Jun 2024
The tour started on time, good abbreviated program to see the Pyramids, sphinx and other sites. I didn't like that the car was not of high quality, and AC was weak, although I asked for a better one in advance. I would have done this in a better way.

Sites were incredible, animal cruelty and tour guide were not

Bruce_H, May 2024
--Marwa was our tour guide and was knowledgable but very pushy and didn't like when we refused her upsales. She wanted us to pay for personalized jewelry, perfume/oils, papyrus factory, and camel rides and asked multiple times despite saying no several times. She also tried to get us to stop at her rental apartment during our short time in Cairo. She consistently didn't respect our preferences (e.g., not going into a very narrow, steep tunnel at the pyramids due to claustrophobia, not eating things due to severe allergies, and not jumping for a photo that we didn't ask for on a steep incline). Her friendly demeanor disappeared as we declined her upsales, and she rushed us through the sites after that. She insisted on getting our contact information and social media accounts. --The driver was very safe and polite --The pick up location was stressful since the port had a lot of buses and vans waiting at the same location/time, making it hard to find the correct van, especially since the driver did not speak English and the tour guide was a little late showing up --A LOT of animal cruelty at the pyramids. They whip the half-starved horses, donkeys, and camels frequently. Many of the animals had visibly infected open wounds from their abuse. We didn't see a single horse, donkey, or camel that didn't show signs of abuse. --Actually seeing the pyramids and the Cairo museum was amazing. --For cruise ship passengers: there is definitely limited time if you only have the day, so set your expectations accordingly. They did a very nice job of getting us back to the port in time for our departure, though. --The tour guide insisted we go to a perfume/oil demonstration at a local shop (which was not included in the tour description and not something we wanted to do with our limited time), which took some of our time from the museum, which was a disappointment. The people giving the demonstration were very nice, professional and not pushy, which was appreciated. --She gave a very rushed, disorganized tour of the Cairo museum to highlight a few important artifacts then left us while she went to get herself lunch (she did offer to pick up food for us as well, but we had allergies). We then started back at the beginning to figure out the museum ourselves. Many of the plaques were in English, which was nice and it was laid out overall in a timeline, so easy enough to navigate on our own, thankfully. --Minimally available bathrooms, all require tipping. Bring your own toilet paper and hand sanitizer. --The stops on this tour do not require headscarves for females

Somaya is the best guide...

Somaya is the best guide tour ever! Very good English, polite, and has a lot knowledge on Egyptian history! For my wife it was also very nice that she a woman which passed a lot of safety for her.

Great Experience with Emo Tours

Peter_K, Dec 2023
Enjoying the Great Pyramids, Old Museum. Ayman Fathi, our tour guide was very well versed on Egyptian Historical knowledge. Trip was very convenient because I was picked-up at my residence.

Gaza Pyramids from Alexandria Port

Deborah_B, Oct 2023
Because I use a walker, I was not sure if I could get close to the pyramids at all. But--Medhat our guide and Ashraf our driver we're both so helpful, kind and accommodating. I got up close and was able to take all those silly pictures of putting your fingertip on the point of the pyramid, kissing the Sphinx, etc! Afterwards we went to lunch (very good) the Papayrus museum, Memlouk Jewelry, the NMEC (National Museum of Egyptian Civilization.) Medhat never tired and was happy and smiling our entire trip. We had a long, tiring, eventful and fascinating day. Our driver was able to get me close to all the sights so I didn't have to walk too far anywhere. I would highly recommend EMO tours for your guides. Ours was private just for the two of us. What an experience. The only cumbersome part was that Port pickup was not possible for security reasons. So we had to cab to the meeting point had to wait because they were delayed due to traffic. The cab driver and our driver made the arrangements. Overall a great time! Thank you both.

Cario in winter

The driver and tour guide were very nice although felt rushed. Unfortunately I got car, heat stroke sick so we cut short our trip... the pyramids are amazing
