On arrival I was told I had to have massage before hammam as all hammam booths were full. Not having had one before I was unaware of the usual order but realised afterwards that this wasn’t the right way to do things

A Mid Price Range Hammam & Massage. An Intriguing Experience!

The minibus picked us up on time before collecting another couple, and finally a family of four. On arrival we put valuables such as watches, handbags and wallets in a safe box in reception and took the key with us. We took sufficient money for tips up with us in a small wallet. Two floors up is an area where the Hammam ladies congregate. Off this general purpose room are some small changing rooms which are functional rather than luxurious but serve their purpose just fine! We were asked in broken English to undress down to underwear. Men should wear speedos, or similar underware, ladies should wear a bikini or similar. We put our clothes in the basket provided along with the tips wallet. When called forward, out of site of other clients we were led to the other side of the general room to a hammam. This was a room containing two marble bed like slabs a warm water tap and a bucket. We were asked, again in broken English, to lie down and told that we should relax for a few minutes to let our muscles unwind! When the lady returned, she gently poured warm water over each of the two of us in turn, and then soaped us down with black argan soap. She told us that she would leave us for a few minutes for the soap to be absorbed. She then re appeared and started gently scrubbing us down with a medium abrasive glove. Some people like a very gentle action to be used, others a harder approach. The ladies are open to your preference, but unless you say otherwise you get the medium approach! The lady was not particularly thorough as I was told that they respect that first timers do not like multiple hard passes of the glove over their skin first time around. The staff are happy to be more thorough if one asks. The lady was certainly very discrete and paid regard to modesty. The body was then rinsed with warm water, and argon oil skin conditioner applied. After time for the oil to sink in we were individually rinsed down whist sitting on a stool, and our hair washed with argan shampoo. Then a final rinse and we were given a dressing gown and led out of the hammam. As we were aware that the ladies are paid relatively poorly, we made sure that our lady received a tip for her work. She had, it has to be said, a very kind disposition and had been very professional. We were then led downstairs in the gowns to the first floor massage room. There were two massage tables and two masseurs. Still wearing underwear, we received a full hour of expert treatment. The ladies use medium pressure, unless asked for a more gentle or harder approach. Once again, they were careful not to encroach upon our modesty. Finally, our clothes basket arrived as if by magic, we dressed and gave the masseurs a good tip as they had deserved it. The minibus was waiting outside and we were back in our hotel about two and a half hours after we had left. By the way, the 10:30 hotel departure is one of the busiest!

The Hammam wasn’t as expected. We had to climb three flights of stairs which was a bit of a struggle. The ladies only spoke French which was awkward when we didn’t want to strip fully due to modesty as we were mixed couples. Me and my friend ended up toe to toe on one slab as another lady was bought in to join us and the room was quite small but it was an overall ok experience. However the massage was amazing and would get a 5 star rating on its own..

The massage was excellent the bath bit a bit weird with them randomly leaving you for a while....I guess whilst they multitask the other guests. The tea relaxation area needs more thought looking out to the roof top towel drying area, listening to the washing machine spinning. The massage thankfully made up for the bath bit.

Not the best for a good massage and hammam. You would expect the massage after a hammam but not at all here. Applied oil on skin which should have been washed before applying oil so did work for me at all. Massage was just about average. Hammam was terrible scrubbed so hard nearly scraped my skin off, not much going on 5 mins of scrubbing and throwing water at you.

Pick up was on time and the journey was about 5 minutes from our hotel. We got to the spa and the lady greeting us was warm and friendly and spoke good English. She offered us tea and then a locker to put our things into. We were shown upstairs into a room with 2 beds so my partner and I could be massaged at the same time. We had both worn swimming stuff but my partner was told to take her bikini top off. The ladies doing the massage were friendly but didn't speak English so it was difficult to understand what they wanted us to do. The massage itself was lovely but didn't last the full hour, it was about 35/40 mins. Afterwards they wrapped our heads in towels and left the room and we weren't sure if it was over or not, as they just left the room, but left the door open. After 5 minutes we got up and started to get dressed. The ladies came back in whilst we were dressing and were saying "tip, give us tip" we had left our belongings in the lockers downstairs so couldn't. They followed us downstairs and once we retrieved our belongings they stood with their hands out, I felt this was uncomfortable and pushy, luckily we'd bought some cash so gave them a little.

Did not get the full 2hrs Hammam & Massage package as advertised. The massage was around 30/40 minutes at the most and was left in the room for the remaining time. We was pressured to give tips, they followed us all the way downstairs and wouldn’t leave until we’ve handed over the tips, we were going to tip regardless anyway. We were left waiting around numerous times in between the 2hrs we were there.

- Transport arrived on time and driver was friendly. Arrived for our treatments, the ladies in the shop were very friendly and welcoming; we were offered some tea and were given access to lockers for our personal possessions and given the key. Made our way up to start our treatments, ensure you have bring swim wear for this experience as will be needed. The body scrub was great, and laying on the hot tiles felt very relaxing. The ladies doing the Hammond were amazing, and the massage session was excellent; came out feeling relaxed and my skin feeling soft and refreshed. Such a relaxing experience and the music they play is so relaxing you will easily drift asleep, on this experience. i arrived this for our last day in Morocco and we have had an action packed holiday, this was a great way to end the experience of Morocco. I would definitely come back and do this again and would recommend anyone on holiday out here to come and experience this session.
