Best Birthday Experience

I decided to book this last minute the night before the tour as a birthday gift to myself. The operator Guy (pronounced Gee) was quick to respond providing details and instructions for the trip and I was picked up at my hotel the next day. I made a special request for a female horse and to my delight they were able to accommodate me and had beautiful Princess waiting when we got there. My guide Danny was very personable which made the ride up very pleasant. The pizza was delicious and to my surprise the operator had a purchased a cake when he found out it was my birthday! Overall it was a great experience. The pizza was so much better than expected. I’m glad I went on this tour, it is my new favorite birthday experience.

Great transport from Joshua!

Joshua came to pick my family up from the Airbnb in Antigua and take them to the airport. He arrived about 20 minutes early and let us know via WhatsApp that he would be outside waiting; this was great because it gave my family the opportunity to leave early if they were ready before the scheduled time of 8am. The transport went smooth and everyone arrived to the airport on time for their flights! Thank you!

Two day hiking tour to the Acatenango Volcano

Started off pretty bad and ending great!

We booked and we had absolutely no communication before arrival. When we showed up the staff didn't know we had booked at all but quickly got us on our way up the mountain. They had all the supplies you'd need and additional supplies you could rent. We felt concerned at the start but our local guide Jaido (not sure how to spell it but he pronouced it as Hi-do) was amazing (He is pictured below in the middle)! He spoke Spanish and some English and let us move up and down the volcano at our own pace. We literally ran up the to the camps on Acentenago. After 2 hours of resting we struggled our way up and down Fuego and I will say, it was an amazing trip. Unfortunately, Fuego was a little shy when we got closer but we tried to be friendly. It erupted when we left and was back at base camp so maybe its a little performance shy. We stayed up at base camp overnight and came back down the next day. Even though they failed at communication their expertise showed through when they were able to put the tour on full speed at the last minute. They said there was a communication error with Viator and their system which didn't make much sense to me but I know stuff happens. I'd recommend them because our trip was amazing and they put it together at a moments notice. Give them some prep time and it should go even better.

We had such a great experience with our shuttle driver, Dereck! He was incredibly friendly, professional, and welcoming from the moment he picked us up. Dereck made the entire ride comfortable and enjoyable, and we felt completely safe throughout the trip. He was very attentive, helpful with our luggage, and easy to talk to, which made the drive go by quickly. You can tell he genuinely cares about providing a great experience for his passengers. We couldn’t have asked for a better driver and would absolutely recommend him to anyone needing transportation in Guatemala. Thank you for making our trip even more enjoyable! 10/10 experience!

Abdel arrived right on...

Abdel arrived right on time as agreed. The van was very clean, modern, spacious, and comfortable. Although the drive from Antigua to Guatemala City Airport was long, Abdel drove very carefully and professionally throughout—never erratic and always attentive. He helped us load and unload all of our luggage and got us to the airport on time. He was friendly and engaging when appropriate, while also giving our family space to relax during the journey. Overall, an excellent driver and a very comfortable experience. We would definitely book with him again!

Amazing experience from...

Amazing experience from beginning to end! Hiking Acatenango was definitely challenging, but absolutely worth it. The guides were professional, friendly, encouraging, and made us feel safe throughout the entire hike. The organization was great, and having the option to hire a porter was a lifesaver for me! The campsite was comfortable, and watching Volcán de Fuego erupt at night was truly one of the most incredible things I have ever experienced. The views and sunrise were unforgettable. This hike is not easy, so come prepared for a challenge, but I would 100% recommend this tour to anyone looking for a once-in-a-lifetime adventure in Guatemala. Exhausting, beautiful, and completely unforgettable!

From the minute you arrive , everyone else that's there for the class ,We all just seem to bond . Making the food is a shared experience, everything comes together tasteful and amazingly well The hosts are amazing ...Felt like family ....And to top it off it was my Birthday ( Well 3 of us ,who meet at the class shared Birthdays days apart and to our surprise We got a cake to share ..... This was such an excellent experience that I wasn’t expecting. Gio, our guide, made sure we were all comfortable with our ATVs—I wasn’t. But he didn’t make a big deal about it or seem frustrated and served as my driver. He made the experience memorable for us all and was a great paparazzo! I would have never been able to capture photos so well. Having a small group of kind participants made the day even more enjoyable. Gio did a wonderful job of giving us plenty of time at Hobbitenango, but not too much so we were bored. He stuck to schedule, which is appreciated when traveling and tour/events are booked in advanced. I also liked how all off the gunners were included In our entrance to Everything. I would recommend Gio’s ATV ride to anyone!

Challenging but Unforgettable Acatenango Experience

I did the overnight Acatenango hike with Ox Expeditions and was really impressed with how well organised everything was. The welcome briefing the night before is absolutely essential—it gives you a clear idea of what to expect and how demanding the hike truly is. One thing I really appreciated was that they offer lots of warm clothing to hire for free, which meant I didn’t have to pack bulky layers in my own bag. I would strongly recommend hiring a porter for the ascent (for an additional charge). The hike is steep, long and genuinely difficult, and having someone carry your main bag makes a huge difference. Be prepared for very cold temperatures at base camp. Food is provided and perfectly fine for the conditions, but the campsite itself is very basic. It’s also worth knowing that you’re not guaranteed dramatic views or a clear sight of Fuego erupting—weather and cloud cover can change quickly. Even so, the experience is absolutely worth it. Reaching the top and spending the night on the volcano is something I’ll never forget.
