This was a wonderful experience, not only did we get to learn about making ramen and dumplings, but we learned about the history of the dishes. I can't say enough good things about this experience. I highly recommend you take advantage of this authentic opportunity during your visit. We had our daughter with us, and we were all able to participate and make our own ramen and dumplings. We can't wait to make them at home now! Thank you!

Very nice experience with nice teacher and practice. The location is very nice and easy to arrive with the local metro and the welcome is nice. The food we prepared was also delicious so it is very recommended
Response from Host, May 2026
Thank you for your kind comment. I’m so glad you enjoyed it.
Going forward, I’d like to expand the range of activities here so that visitors can enjoy everyday experiences like strolling around the area, taking photos, playing games, and hosting birthday parties. Please be sure to visit again the next time you travel to Japan.

This was such a fun and informative class! The goyzas and ramen were delicious!! It was so much fun not only making the dishes, but also learning the history of how they came to be. And the recipes were emailed to us, so that we can go home and make the dishes ourselves!! Highly recommend this adventure!
Response from Host, May 2026
Thank you so much for your wonderful review.
I’m so glad you enjoyed your stay.
I hope this trip to Japan will be a cherished memory for you.
As I mentioned in the mini-workshop, the Japanese love of innovation is what has led to the creation of such delicious ramen. I encourage you to try your hand at making your own unique gyoza and ramen.
Angela_B, May 2026
This was a fun cooking class. We were provide with an interesting history about the origins of both ramen and gyoza. The chef was well prepared for the class, was enthusiastic about sharing his knowledge with us. The end product was delicious.
Response from Host, May 2026
I'm glad you enjoyed it. If you make one at home, please send me a photo. However, as I asked during the workshop, please only send one photo of your best-looking creation. Many guests send dozens of photos, which I appreciate, but I'm having trouble deciding which ones to throw away.

Fun time, full of practical hands-on experience. Gyoza folds, flipping entire pan contents for presentation and saki tasting were pleasant surprises.
Response from Host, May 2026
I’m glad you enjoyed the experience.
I hope it becomes a wonderful memory of your trip to Japan.
wendi_r, May 2026
We had a nice time. One of our participants had a food allergy and they worked with us to accommodate. They gave us the recipes and I look forward to making them at home.
Response from Host, May 2026
Thank you for your lovely comment. Please give it a try when you get home. As I mentioned in the mini-workshop, adapting recipes to suit your own taste is the Japanese way.
Susanne_L, Apr 2026
The hosts were lovely and gave us information into the history of the food.
I have done cooking classes on my travel and this was assembling of the prepared food they had made. Not a cooking experience..
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Thank you for your review of the workshop.
I try to provide tips so that you can make gyoza and ramen at home, but perhaps you felt there wasn’t enough hands-on work involved in making the ramen. I’ll consider offering separate workshops for each.

A wonderful cooking class. Our tutor was friendly, helpful, and entertaining. Would definitely recommend!
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Thank you so much for your wonderful comments and high ratings!
What makes me happiest is that you found it "funny." I'm constantly thinking about how to make the lessons enjoyable and fun for everyone. Oh, that's a lie. I'm just diligently practicing every day, with the sole goal of being able to make delicious ramen and dumplings when I get home.
If you do make them at home, please send me a photo of just one dish. Don't send dozens of photos!
Tracy_R, Apr 2026
Excellent cooking class, great value and very informative.
Highly recommend the experience, food was delicious too.
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Thank you so much for your wonderful comments and high ratings.
I’ve been told that the course is too long before we actually get to cooking, so I’m trying to adjust it based on your feedback, but I’m glad you enjoyed it.
Please give it a try when you get home!
Christina_W, Apr 2026
Pros:
- The chef and his interpreter/assistant were very kind and helpful as they guided you through the course.
- The location was easy to find and in a quiet and calm neighborhood.
- The location is very close to a train station and required just a short walk.
- After our class we were also within a short walk of the Ueno Zoo and park area which was very convenient.
- The traditional gyozas were tasty.
Cons:
- We constructed some gyzoas and added items to our bowl for ramen but this is not actually a cooking class. The chef does the cooking while we watch or wait. You do not have an actual cook station. Individual or even paired cooking stations really should be provided in a cooking class.
- The first 20-30 minutes are spent reviewing some historical information about ramen and gyoza and it felt a bit misplaced in this setting. I would prefer there be a quick 5-10 minutes intro and spend the time actually cooking food.
- Hygiene. This is a cooking class where everyone touches everyone else's food and you have no idea whose you are eating. Our group found this to be unhygienic and disappointing when you create your own items intending to eat it yourself.
- The listing says that there is a maximum of 8 which we booked with our group for a private lesson. Unfortunately, 2 strangers were later added to the group which was unanticipated and took away from our private experience.
- Unfortunately, most of the food was simply not very tasty.
- The price per person is a bit expensive for the experience.
Whenever I travel, a cooking class is at the top of my list of things to do. I would skip this one in the future.

I'm sorry that this turned out to be an unfortunate opportunity for you. I apologize. Judging from the comments of other participants, no one has written anything like what you did, so I intend to continue with this style for a while longer. I think it's fine for cooking classes to have various styles. After all, we live in an age of diversity. However, I apologize if I have left a negative impression on your travel memories.
serracherian, Apr 2026
Great to be taught how to make Gyoza and the history of food in Japan. Wonderful hosts teen kids enjoyed it a lot too. Ramen making was more assembly but still good to understand what goes into the making.
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Thank you for the wonderful review and thoughtful comments. I was worried that it might be boring for teenagers, but I'm glad to hear that they enjoyed it. Please try making it when you get home. Feel free to customize it and explore your own unique dumplings and ramen.
Christine_H, Mar 2026
Highly recommend and highlight of our Tokyo trip. Not only did we make Ramen and Gyoza, but learned about Japanese food history and culture. Delicious experience with staff who made it even more enjoyable.
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Thank you so much for your lovely comment.
A Japanese philosopher once said, “Travel is what helps bridge the growing divides in the world. By interacting with different cultures and people, those divides disappear.”
I hope this has been that kind of experience for you.

Thank you for your wonderful comments and high ratings. I'm happy that you've become interested not only in ramen making, but also in the history and culture behind why Japanese people strive to make ramen and gyoza so delicious. It would be wonderful if this place becomes a place where people can connect and enjoy their travels.
Elizabeth_V, Mar 2026
We loved this cooking class! We felt very included and immersed in the experience. We learned all about the history of ramen and gyoza, and the food was very delicious. I would recommend this to anyone!
Response from Host, Mar 2026
It seems like you enjoyed Kujo Tokyo's "Ramen & Gyoza" experience. We're so happy for you. Please try making it when you get home. It'll be even more fun if you invite your friends and family over for a gyoza party.
nora_a, Mar 2026
The experience was great! I learned a lot about the history of the making of Ramen and the Gyoza. Our chef was passionate about his culture and cuisine.
Response from Host, Mar 2026
Thank you so much for your lovely comment. I hope it will serve as a memory of your fun trip to Japan. When you get home and make ramen or gyoza, please send me only the best photos. Sometimes people send me dozens of photos, which is nice, but it fills up my phone's memory.
Carole_P, Feb 2026
What a great experience.
A lot of information and history was given to the group about Giza and Ramens, which gave us a thorough explanation.
The cooking demonstration and practice making our gyozas was excellent for the group of 7.
3 different versions of gyozas were made.
Then came the making of a Char Sui ramen. Again very informative regarding the two miso pastes that we used.
Lastly the enjoyable task of eating what we had made.
Well worth spending 2 hrs.
Response from Host, Feb 2026
Thank you for your very specific and detailed explanation.
It sounds like something straight out of a "Kujo Tokyo" advertisement.
It even made us, the ones who provided the ramen and gyoza experience, want to relive it all over again.
We hope it becomes a wonderful memory of your trip to Japan.
Sarah, Feb 2026
We had a wonderful experience making gyoza and ramen in this class. It was very informative, delicious, and fun! Would def recommend to friends and family!
Response from Host, Feb 2026
I'm glad you enjoyed the ramen and gyoza experience.
While beautiful scenery and delicious food are part of the joy of travel, I'm especially happy when we can share fun interactions and memories like this.
Shawn_H, Jan 2026
Super fun, informative, and interactive activity. You learn about the history of the dishes and Japan’s different takes on each one. Location is cozy but comfortable. You’re learning from real locals who run the restaurant in the evenings. Very cool and highly recommend!
Response from Host, Jan 2026
Thank you for your high praise and thoughtful explanation.
It's very encouraging.
Please try making it at home when you get back.
Lucie_S, Jan 2026
It was great Class we really enjoy it.. learn how to cook ramen and gyoza and shoud this class for my family back in USA
Response from Host, Jan 2026
I'm so glad you enjoyed it. We had a wonderful time together too. Even though I'm not a fan of flying, I got into the travel spirit, and it was a truly special time that made me realize how emotions can be shared across countries.
Alyssa_S, Nov 2025
This was such a fun class and the food was delicious! It was small enough to feel intimate but other people around to socialize with.
Response from Host, Nov 2025
Thank you for your lovely comment. The joy of travel lies in connecting with new people and cultures, doesn't it? I'm so glad you enjoyed it.
Caroline_C, Oct 2025
This was such an amazing and authentic cooking experience! The hosts were incredible in starting to give an overview of ramen and gyoza and then showing us how to make on our own - they were super interactive and patient with us! The food turned out incredible and something we could already see ourselves replicating at home.
Response from Host, Oct 2025
Thank you for your detailed introduction. Please try to recreate it at home. Please don't hold me responsible if it doesn't taste the same. Ahahaha
John_C, Oct 2025
Teaching Chef of Kitchen Kujo and Translator Sayaka were amazing, and the class was fun and delicious. He sent me recipes along with photos & videos of me in the class whipping up Gyoza. I understood every single word from Translator Sayaka, and she also added elements of Japanese culture, history and current trends to further round out a wonderful class. Together, they provided a wonderful class and cultural experience.
Response from Host, Oct 2025
Thank you very much for your thoughtful comments.
During the workshop, your insightful questions greatly helped deepen the experience. Thank you.
Janelle_T, Aug 2025
A great experience. Time started with a quick history of ramen and gyoza before moving on to lessons, cooking and eating. The hosts are absolutely lovely and our daughter who is learning Japanese really enjoyed practicing while speaking with them (although they translated much of the lesson to English for those of who don’t speak Japanese). Highly recommend!
Response from Host, Aug 2025
Thank you very much for your nice comment and evaluation. I was impressed by your daughter's bright and sincere attitude in studying Japanese. Thank you very much for staying with our shop until the end of the tour despite the jet lag.

We (me, my husband, and two teenage boys) absolutely loved this class. Throughout our trip, I'd ask what everyone's favorite experiences were so far, and this class always topped the list. The teacher and translator were both welcoming, personable, and knowledgeable. The cooking isn't from scratch as it is in the longer classes, but that was fine with us. We picked up some good tips and got to have an awesome lunch along the way. And they even took pictures which they sent afterward. Highly recommend!
Response from Host, Jul 2025
Thank you for your wonderful comments, which were very specific and moving.
We had a great time too.
Alexandra_D, Jun 2025
It was lovely. We really wanted to learn how to make ramen and they broke it down in very easy steps with a lot of interesting information. It was the perfect amount of time as well.
Response from Host, Jun 2025
Thank you for your nice comment. I hope this will be one of your good memories of your trip to Japan. Please continue to enjoy your trip to Japan.
Andrew_R, May 2025
A great personalised experience making gyoza and ramen. Also got a quick history of both. Feel confident we can make these at home:)
Response from Host, May 2025
I hope it will become one of your good memories of your trip to Japan. More than 50 tourists experience it every month. Some of them send us photos after returning home saying, "I tried making it at home." We look forward to the day when you send us photos of your original gyoza or ramen.
Stefanie_K, May 2025
We had a wonderful time...laughing and learning. It was great food and a great time with such a friendly couple.
Response from Host, May 2025
Thank you for your unexpected review. The fact that you said you were a "wonderful couple" means that we were a perfect match.
Unfortunately, she has a wonderful husband.
But I will tell her about your wonderful review.
I hope that it will become a fond memory of your trip to Japan.
natalie_s, May 2025
Fantastic loved this class! Highly recommend if you want a cooking class experience choose this one.
Response from Host, May 2025
Hi Natalie
Thank you for your lovely comment. I would be happy if it is one of the pleasant memories of your trip to Japan.
I may be the one who enjoys it the most.
Joanne_P, Apr 2025
Excellent cooking class. Catered easily for me as a vegetarian which I was very grateful for. Shoji is very patient and friendly and also employs a translator to aid communication. Food lovely and cant wait to get practicing at home.
Response from Host, Apr 2025
One in four tourists who participate in the Kujo Tokyo experience is vegan. Sometimes, it is not uncommon for a family of four to participate, with two of them being vegan. We have also started to think differently to provide delicious Japanese food, and our culinary world is expanding.
I am very happy that you enjoyed the experience the other day.
patricia_s, Mar 2025
Fun very nice exceptional hosts. Very welcoming and educational. Hands on. Great communication. Lots of fun!!
Response from Host, Mar 2025
Thank you for your wonderful compliment.
I hope this will be one of your fond memories of your trip to Japan.
Please continue to have a wonderful trip with your friends.
Jesse_W, Nov 2024
Learned a nice Miso Ramen recipe, and 3 different styles of Gyoza which were all equally addictive. The Chef and his translator were very kind and very welcoming. And now I have a hankering for Gyoza.
Response from Host, Nov 2024
I'm so glad you've become so addicted to it. When you go home, please make ramen & gyoza until you get tired of it every day!
