Top Tokyo Wellness Classes in 2026

In recent years, the teachings of Zen meditation (zazen) have become increasingly well-known around the world. However, there are surprisingly few places where one can experience authentic zazen. This activity offers a true digital detox and Zen experience—an immersive overnight stay at Shogakuji Temple, a Soto Zen temple nestled deep in the mountains about two hours from Tokyo. Over the course of two days and one night, participants can fully engage in traditional Soto Zen practices surrounded by rich natural beauty. During your stay, you’ll follow the same practices as Zen monks: sitting meditation (zazen), sutra copying (shakyō), and enjoying tenzo ryōri, traditional vegetarian temple cuisine. As an optional feature, you can hand over all digital devices—smartphones, computers, etc.—at check-in to enjoy a complete digital detox experience. Your guide is a local native English speaking guide so you will have no worries of communication.

This tour offers a journey through the history and temples of Kamakura, while also allowing you to experience the natural beauty of Enoshima and take in breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. On a clear sky, you can also observe the beautiful Mt. Fuji as well. This tour is fully private, guided by a friendly local who speaks English. Rather than a typical sightseeing tour, our goal is to create an experience that feels like spending time with a local friend.
