We can’t say enough good things about our guide, Israr. If you’re deciding between a group tour and time with him, book the one-on-one. It is the only way to go. From the first stop, it was clear this wasn’t a scripted walk between landmarks. Israr took us to all the important sites, but what made the day special was how he brought each one to life. He knew the history, and he knew the stories behind it — the kind of details you don’t get from a plaque or a guidebook. He paced the day around us, answered every question, and somehow made a full itinerary feel easy instead of rushed. He also has a real feel for the city beyond the sights. He took us to places to shop that we never would have found on our own, and he knew exactly where to stop for lunch. That meal was the absolute best Japanese food we’ve had so far — not just good for a tour lunch, genuinely the best. You can tell he cares about the whole experience, not just checking boxes. We spent six hours with Izumi and his excellent driver visiting some of the most interesting highlights of Tokyo. It was a highly diverse selection, ranging from the Meiji Shrine to the Imperial Palace to the shopping stalls of Akasaka to an extensive Japanese garden. Izumi speaks excellent English and is happy to answer any questions you may have. He is highly knowledgeable about all the destinations and uses an iPad to fill-in the facts and historical perspectives. The van we traveled around in was very comfortable, with excellent air conditioning. Overall, we would highly recommend this tour.

Yumi was an excellent, enthusiastic guide for the sumo tournament. Her commentary during the bouts was informative and entertaining. She provided binders with additional info regarding sumo traditions, wrestler info, and frequently used take-down. The seats were positioned to view entire ring without any view obstructions.
