This hike was AMAZING. Our guide was great...friendly, fun and full of information. The hike is not easy. The most difficult part is a walk down a road to the canyon (theres a gate at top you cant go through), and at the end going back up...steep and goes on for a bit. But in the canyon it is beyond beautiful and an exciting hike, crossing the water a few times and getting to swim for a bit. 10/10 recommend.

Hike was about a 7/10 difficulty. It’s very technical in certain parts and very steep in other parts. You’ll hike through several river crossings, and hike through mud. However the guide is amazing. He’ll help with everything and make sure you get across everything safely. No matter how hard or technical the hike gets, the view is 100% worth it. The best view of my entire life. You need to try this hike.

Amazing hiking experience overall! The tour guides were extremely attentive, helpful, and accommodating. We accidentally missed our original start time due to our own misunderstanding, and they kindly allowed us to carry over our tickets, which we truly appreciated. There was a slight language barrier at times, but everyone was still very friendly and helpful. The hike itself was beautiful but definitely very challenging, so come prepared and I wouldn’t recommend bringing small children.

The hikes were hard if you are new to hiking but the guide was SUPER helpful remember to prepare on your own time and bring proper footwear

Hi
It was nice but i was sad because the experience was set with 5-6h and we needed just 2 1/2h because we could just visit 1 big waterfall. It rained too much the day before so it wasn't save. I don't understand why they didn't tell us before the trip. I mean we payed for it but didn't get the whole thing.
The guides were nice but the English could be better - the communication was really difficult.

A group of 4 of us went. The guides were very helpful and made sure everyone made it safely through the hike.
I personally had lost my footing when I wasn’t paying attention and the current dragged me a bit. The guide dove and came out of no where and grabbed my hand and dragged me back to complete safety.
Overall awesome experience, definitely recommend but prepare for a bit of a workout. 10/10 great hike and views.

This home is absolutely breath taking. It’s some of the craziest views I’ve ever seen. The hike itself wasn’t to difficult lots of climbing rocks and crossing rivers. However to get in and out of the trail you have to walk down and up this large driveway and that was the hardest thing ever. But if I can do this hike with a bum heart so can you and you should. The guides were friendly and knew all the best photo angles. Would do this hike again.

Amazing hike. Definitely want to be in shape for this, José our guide was super helpful making sure nobody slipped or got left behind. Overall it was an amazing experience. Pura Vida!

This hike is for people that are fit, comfortable with moving water, and ready for a fun long day. The walk back to the car is brutal after the adventure, but it’s worth it. I wouldn’t suggest it for kids under 13 or 14 as the water can be deep and the currents are strong. Make sure you have good footwear for getting wet, dirty, and a lot of hiking.

I never write reviews but I have to be honest for this one. It didn't deserve the $60. Our guide did not speak a word of English and clearly hates his job. Language wasn't the issue as he didn't talk at all with 2 locals in the group too. We walked fast-paced in silence for the entire 5 hours of the tour. We didn't have time to enjoy any of the scenery that we passed by during the hike. We did the Canyon waterfall tour, and the waterfall is indeed beautiful. We saw locals do the trail by themselves, which is possible because the trail is marked well with arrows and ribbons on trees. So we were very disappointed with a guide who didn't want to communicate with us at all. The reason we booked a guided tour was to learn more about the area, vegetation etc not running to the spot and back.

We randomly happened upon this guided hike and so far (we are still out exploring) it’s our favorite thing we’ve done. The waterfall(s) themselves are more than I expected and well… I expected a lot. Our guide was wonderful, safe, knowledgeable, and kind. Could not recommend this adventure enough.
Although there is some buzz about it being illegal, it is more of a hike that is “not approved”. It’s not super sketchy, and did not feel unsafe. A guide is a MUST though… I’m adventurous but I would not try this alone.
A+ all around!

This was our absolute favorite activity we did in Costa Rica! Beautiful and unique hike crossing the river and ending at the most stunning waterfalls. It’s unlike anything I’ve done before, and the guide was amazing at ensuring our safety and helping us in the more difficult parts.

This was incredible, the guides were great and the waterfalls amazing!! The hike is very challenging, so wear shoes that can get wet and grip the rocks. You will be in the water and also going up steep, muddy terrains.
Marlena_M, Mar 2026
It was such an amazing experience. Loved the hike, the views and swimming in the waterfall so much!
The guide was super nice. The trip would be more better, if the guide is giving a little more information about flora and fauna while hiking :)

This was so fun and adventurous Kenneth had great energy and was very helpful. This is definitely an experience well worth it!

Amazing experience. Challenging hole, be prepared to scale canyons and cross rushing rivers on slippery rocks. But the guides help you and it’s so worth it.

This was our favorite excursion on our trip to Costa Rica! What an exhilarating experience! The views were extraordinary, our guide was helpful, fun, funny, and made sure we were safe the whole time. Good to note, this is not for the weak. This was a very technical hike with rapid river crossings and steep incline/declines that require 3 points of contact at all times.

Ok most of these previous reviews made me think that this hike was going to be a death hike. And while it was technical, it is no where NEAR what people made it out to be. If you have any kind of hiking experience, you will be fine. The toughest part for me was going through water up to my waist, but it wasn't as bad as I had imagined AT ALL. One thing I will note (because I was trying to find a review about shoe-wear before going) DO NOT wear hiking boots. If you only have the option of either hiking boot or tennis shoe (as me and my three girlfriends did) then definitely choose tennis shoe. You're constantly going in and out of water and a hiking boot will be way too heavy the whole time. Tennis shoe is the way to go. To be honest, I almost skipped this hike because the reviews had made me so nervous but y'all it was so not bad and SO worth it!!

Was about 2 miles, with lots of rock scrambling, some with rope, one river crossing with rope, beautiful views, very helpful, friendly guides who are very knowledgeable about the area. Somewhat strenuous, with slippery rocks, mud, trailed through the jungle. Highly recommend, one of, if not the best experience of our whole trip
Tiffany_W, Feb 2026
This excursion is a must do for the adventurous spirit! As you’ll read another reviews, it is a strenuous hike just to get to the start of the trail. It rained for days prior to our experience therefore, the waterfall was too dangerous to swim underneath or jump in. But, the hike to the top and the entire experience was breathtaking! The guides were wonderfully helpful every step of the way. This is not for the faint of heart! Only you know your physical abilities. My bff is old enough to be my mother (73-yrs) and she’s a bad *ss. We are both sore and tired and it was worth every second!

This hike was amazing. Definitely for adventurous souls and those who are well versed in hiking! Christian was a great guide and was very knowledgeable and helpful.

Best Tour Guides Ever. Very Helpful And Out Going Definitely Recommended Trying It. Was Ready To Book Again

Amazing guide. It was slightly raining the guide was very helpful, patient, and literally helping everyone. Beautiful spot.
Max_S, Jan 2026
Most underrated place in Costa Rica! This should be on everyone’s bucket list. Both guides were awesome as well!
Greg_B, Jan 2026
Great hike, it rained a lot that week so didn't get to go on the second part of the hike. That being said I'd definitely do it again.
Josh_D, Jan 2026
This is a very hard "hike". Scrambling over rocks, climbing down and up steep cliffs, a walk uphill almost an hour long. The views and experience is super cool but this is work, hard work. I also question if access to the area is even legal. The guides were pretty poor.
Judith_S, Dec 2025
It was an awesome trip and it shows the wonderful nature of costa rica from its best! The guide was super nice and engaged that we have a nice experience!
Brittany_N, Nov 2025
I went with my husband and this was a highlight of our Costa Rica trip. Communication ahead of time was great, they provided a direct Waze link so was easy to navigate and find. We didn’t have cellular service once we got close so was good to already have the navigation going.
The actual hike was great. You should be ready for an adventure, it’s not easy. There was a lot of rainfall the day before and that morning so the river was powerful and when we crossed you could feel the power against your legs. The guide is super helpful in ensuring everyone makes it across the river safely.
The waterfalls are absolutely stunning and totally worth the adventure in. The hike out is tough, the main road you come down on, just remember you have to walk back up/out! It’s long and steep, you should be in decent shape if you want to do this hike.
Amy_A, Nov 2025
This was the best hike I’ve ever done in my life!! With that being said, it is a hike for an experienced hiker. The entire hike, is climbing over rocks, very slippery rocks where one bad foot placement or slip and there goes your ankle/leg. You cross rivers, not calm rivers, very dangerous rivers with very strong currents where again, one bad foot placement and you are gone. You see waterfalls the entire way pretty much, but the end is stunningly magical!! Our tour guides Kenneth and Jose were nothing short of phenomenal!!
I would absolutely recommend this hike as it was the best part of our trip! However, if you have never hiked before, don’t hike often, are not in shape not even a little bit, or have any kind of knee pain or any kind of pain for that patter, this is not for you. I want to be as honest as possible.
Thank you Kenneth and Jose for everything!!!
Deborah_M, Nov 2025
It was fabulous! NOT A HIKE FOR BEGINNERS. We hiked up and down trails, rivers, rocks, swimming under the waterfall and had a blast. We saw some of the most spectacular waterfalls! Our guide was amazing! He was so knowledgeable!
