Day Trips from Hobart to Huon Valley

There’s no need to draw straws for the role of designated driver when you want to discover Tasmania’s wine country—simply book your choice of private tour. Whether you’re enthused by the Huon Valley, the Derwent Valley, Coal River, or the east coast, your private driver lets you choose which venues you want to visit, what you want to sample, and how long you want to stay.

Join us for an unforgettable day tour exploring Tasmania's Deep South, where the apples are crisp, the salmon is fresh, and ancient trees await! Stop in Huonville for a takeaway coffee before enjoying a scenic drive along the Huon River, learning about the region's apple orchards, cider makers, wineries, and salmon production. At Tahune Airwalk, enjoy two hours exploring. Walk among the treetops on the Airwalk, cross the swinging bridges, or stroll along the riverbank among ancient Huon pines, some 2,500 years old. After lunch, head to Hastings Caves for an included guided tour of Australia's largest dolomite cave. Admire its formations, learn about the area's geology, and look out for native wildlife. On our way back to Hobart, stop at a local cider producer where you can purchase a tasting paddle, a glass of cider, or dessert. Relax and share stories with fellow adventurers while enjoying a taste of Tasmania.

Head deep into the forest to the Tahune AirWalk. This spectacular elevated walkway sits up to 50 meters above the forest floor, offering a stunning bird's-eye view of the towering eucalypt canopy and the junction of the Huon and Picton Rivers. Finally, venture to Hastings Caves for an unforgettable subterranean adventure. Join a guided tour through one of Australia’s largest dolomite cave systems to marvel at spectacular limestone formations. After your underground exploration, conclude your day with a relaxing soak in the nearby natural thermal springs, where the crystal-clear water stays a soothing 28°C year-round—the perfect finish to your Tasmanian wilderness experience.
