This was an amazing experience. The weather was perfect and the sunrise view was breathtaking. The driver was very nice and explained all the history about Hawaii. The breakfast at the plantation was really great, the place was beautiful. Overall, all worth it.

Incredible trip! Knowledgeable and helpful tour guides.

Incredible experience! On the day of our trip it was cloudy and rainy all day long at our hotel so I was really worried so ai called the tour operator directly. They answered the phone immediately and sent me a link to the summit webcams and weather forecast for that night which showed clear skies. Sure enough once we got through the clouds to the summit it was perfectly clear. We saw an amazing sunset and an unreal amount of stars. The pictures they gave us were really cool too. The operators are so careful to make sure no one gets altitude sickness. I wouldn’t want to try this adventure on my own.

10/10 North Shore Tour

The North Shore tour was awesome, definitely a must do. Sam our tour guide has a great sense of humour and was very interactive with the group. He was very informative throughout the whole day providing lots of interesting historic and current facts. Always keeping us amused. I like that this tour is like a choose your own adventure, as you get to select which activities you wish to do. You can choose to have a real active day or do one activity and then relax and walk around the town of Hale’iwa. You get nearly 5 hours free time to explore rather than feeling like you’re sitting on a bus all day. We had a great experience and would book a tour with the The Surf Bus again.

Vanessa is amazing!!!

Going a little later in the day allows you to avoid the crowds. But it is a little hot in June, so if you are heat averse, then go in the morning. The tour guide, Vanessa, was amazing! She not only provided interesting facts along the way, but some great humor to pair it with. Bring cash, because we didn’t and we’re not able to tip like she deserved. One thing that appeared to be acceptable was a clear bag. But any other bags must comply with the guidelines provided.

We were one of the rare tours where the visibility was low and we could not see anything. I could not even be disappointed because of how much information Preston shared that you could not find anywhere else. It was so enlightening and such a great experience. If I ever go to Maui again I will definitely give this another try and ask for Preston!

Mahalo Tours was Great

Enjoyed our Road to Hana today. Our driver, Larry, was so knowledgeable about Hawaiian culture. His narration was interesting and never boring. He was delightful, a safe driver and a great storyteller - a true Hawaiian Encyclopedia!! Food and snacks were good. I highly recommend Mahalo Tours. We chose the “small group” tour. This certainly made it a more enjoyable experience.

Incredible tour with gems of information and experiences along the way. Our guide, Melissa was so knowledgeable about different aspects of the island and history making for an amazing learning experience and sightseeing tour. Our Mauna Kea Summit Sunset and Stargazing tour with Hawaii Forest & Trail was absolutely unforgettable. The views at the summit were nothing short of breathtaking—the kind of beauty that makes you pause and truly take it all in. Watching the sunset from above the clouds was simply magical. The experience was made even better with thoughtful touches throughout. The chicken stew was delicious and perfect for the cool mountain air. And during the stargazing portion, enjoying hot chocolate and a cookie while gazing up at the incredible night sky was the perfect way to end the evening. I also have to give special credit to Hawaii Forest & Trail and our guide. I had accidentally overbooked myself and needed to meet at a different location than originally planned. They were incredibly understanding, flexible, and went out of their way to accommodate the change, which I truly appreciated. Overall, this was an amazing experience from start to finish. Between the stunning views, great food, and exceptional service, this tour is definitely a must-do if you’re visiting the Big Island.

If nothing else, take this wonderful tour to be enriched, humored and enchanted by tour guide Anthony. He is an exceptional host who is quite skilled and approachable. While taking in the majestic sites on the road to Hana, Anthony passionately explained the fundamentals of Hawaiian history, culture and language. He was caring and upbeat, and gladly responded to individual needs! Also noteworthy, Anthony was an extremely safe driver on this very challenging and curvy road. In sum, Anthony truly represents the spirit of Aloha!!

See it all without needing a parking space.

See much of the points of interest without the need for a parking space. Just look at the scenery while Sabrina takes on the traffic for you. She also gives you the instructed tour, but as a local goes far beyond the headlines giving you great info that only a local would have. Comfortable ride, plenty of bathroom areas to take advantage of, and never a hurry up. We had a very mixed group, from mobility issues to newly weds and together we had a blast. Also should mention we nearly covered all 4 corners of the earth with our group. Lots of fun, and education too.

Book the flight!

The best experience, almost had to cancel because of the weather early AM but the team was accommodating and told me that I could wait and do a flight later in the day. Worth every penny, sights you can only see by helicopter. Our pilot was amazing, very knowledgeable about the island. Smooth ride besides alittle bumps here and there from the wind (to be expected). Got proposed to after the helicopter and an unforgettable experience. If you're thinking about booking, do it!

Excellent experience

Keoki was a fantastic tour guide and driver. He was patient with everyone, even when he ended up having to switch busses 2 times during the excursion. The third bus was the winner. He was funny and his commentary very informative. I would recommend for solo travelers, family and couples. It’s a great excursion for everyone. Don’t forget your swimsuit and towel for the waterfall! It’s beautiful and worth the short hike on a paved road through the most beautiful botanical garden.
