What are people saying about Fez
Ben_W, Aug 2026
As a solo traveller,...
As a solo traveller, having a personal guide through the labyrinthine medina was invaluable. I don't know how you would find anything without it. Yassine was very personable and knowledgeable about Fez and the old city as he grew up there himself. It was quite evident as he seemed to know many people throughout the winding streets. We went to several of the key viewpoints/historical sites in the medina, and he explained the history and context of each. Several of our stops were also at various artisan shops, where you can see how some of the local fares are made and of course, the vendors want you to buy things. You are told upfront that nothing is obligatory, and you are met with varying degrees of sales pitches, but ultimately if you say no, that's it. This is understandably a part of the tourism economy here, and I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a tour that doesn't include some amount of this. All-in-all, I think the tour is very worth it, if not in the least to just get your feet wet in the narrow, confusing medina before branching out and exploring more yourself. Yassine was also very helpful to answer questions about other things like restaurant recommendations, where to take taxis from, etc. Very nice guy making a living for his young family, thanks Yassine!

Fes in 4 hours!
This private, guided tour of Fes was very informative. Our guide took us to several places in the Medina we would never have found including the oldest university in Morocco and the Nejjarine Museum. We also had guided introductions into the tanneries, a Dar which now houses a rug store, a silk weaver and a store where we purchased some spices and perfume.

Our guide Louzi was so...
Our guide Louzi was so kind and gave us great explanations about the places we visited.
We had a wonderful experience over the three days.
Although the desert camp was located on the edge of the desert, the tent had air conditioning and was comfortable.
It was quite hot during the day, so it would have been nice if we could have ridden the camels a bit later in the evening.

Excellent and fun
Wonderful workshop! We received great insight into the work they do and really enjoyed making the mosaic, painting the pottery and our quick turn at the pottery wheel.
If you can plan this at the beginning of your stay the painted pottery can be brought to your hotel or riad in 2-3 business days.
Pick up service at communication were excellent.

My Driver Ahmed is very friendly and gives a lot of local information about fes and morocco along the trip. And his driving skills is very stable and I appreciated it. The tour guide in Meknes that we joined is very professional too. I enjoyed the trip very much.

Lovely trip!
We had a good time with Mohammed as our driver. He was quite knowledgeable about Morroco and Fes. We learned a lot. Once we were in the Blue City, Hazim, really did an amazing job in showing all the highlights of Chefchaouen. He was like the major of the city! Friendly to everyone and everyone knew him. Thank you for a great time!

Insightful, Flexible, and Honest Tour of the Fez Medina
We spent two days touring the Fez medina with Ahmed, and we’re glad we did. He’s kind, polite, flexible, and full of fun facts about life in Morocco — everything from how people live in the medina to the realities of work, family, and daily routines. He shared pieces of his own story as well, which made the experience feel more personal and grounded.
Ahmed is an excellent navigator of the medina’s complexity. He gave us confidence to explore on our own later, and he answered every question we threw at him — cultural, historical, religious, practical. He never rushed us, and he adjusted the pace and route based on what we were interested in.
A few things future travelers should know, not about Ahmed specifically but about how guiding works in Fez:
You will be taken into some shops. This is standard practice for all guides in Morocco — there’s a commission system, and it’s part of the ecosystem. If you’re not interested in fabrics, rugs, leather, or lamps, just say so. Ahmed is very respectful when you’re clear about your preferences.
If you are interested in buying something, tell him. He can help you negotiate, and you should never accept the first price. Walking out is normal; it’s part of the dance.
Remember you’re not obligated to buy anything. Think of it as an educational stop unless you decide otherwise. We did learn a lot about fabrics, rugs, and leather and we appreciated that.
If you want a tour focused purely on history, architecture, religion, or photography — say it upfront. Ahmed will tailor the day to you as best he can.
What we appreciated most was Ahmed’s openness. He talked about his life, his hopes, his family, and the realities of living in the medina. Those conversations were some of the most memorable parts of our time in Fez.
Overall, Ahmed is a thoughtful and knowledgeable guide, and spending two days with him enriched our trip. Go in with a sense of curiosity, be clear about what you want to see (and what you don’t), and you’ll have a great experience. We originally just booked one day with Ahmed but liked him so much we added a second day. Our visit to Fez was really enhanced by the time we spent with Ahmed. Thank you Ahmed!

More than transportation!
We expected an uneventful ride from Fez to Chefchaouen, and we were pleasantly surprised to be wrong! We had the best time with our guide who shared a lot about the areas we passed through and the history of Morocco. We had a great time and highly recommend this trip!

Fantastic tour! Highly recommend!
Soufiane was an amazing tour guide! He explained everything very well, and was very knowledgable. He was really funny and made the whole tour lighthearted and fun, not to mention his taste of music was fantastic. Abdelkader navigated through many difficult mountain roads while making sure the ride was as smooth as possible. These two made an excellent pair, and it wouldn't have been better any other way. Highly recommend this tour. If you have Soufiane as a tour guide, you know you are in the best hands.

Our 3 day tour with Said.
Our driver, Said Arfoud, was the BEST driver and guide. He communicated well and was very organized. He is a very safe driver under challenging circumstances as we experienced in the Atlas Mountains in December. He shared his great taste in music with us too.
Finally, Said went out of his way to make sure we arrived at our Riad safely at the end of our 3 day tour

Great guides!
Ismail and Mouhamad were amazing hosts and kept us entertained, informed, and engaged at all points during our trip. It is definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity. I recommend riding camels on direction and renting the ATVs for the other to get a full feel for the Sahara.

This was a fantastic...
This was a fantastic experience. Great way to see a good part of the countryside. The camel ride was fun and sunset and sunrise at the desert was just wow! We would highly recommend it. Our tour guide Ahmed was great and exceeded our expectations as a driver and our host. We would happily recommend him to our friends and family.
Thank you, Ahmed!
