What are people saying about Costa Rica

William Bogarin is the best guide!
William Bogarin is the best guide in Costa Rica! Or if there is a better guide than William, I would love to meet them. William’s knowledge and passion for the animals of the Costa Rica jungle are unmatched. We were a family of 7 with a mix of adults, young adults, and teenagers. When 2 of our group were late because of another excursion running late, William even waited and then came back for our 2 stragglers so they wouldn’t miss anything. We saw sloths, monkeys, snakes, multiple species of frogs, porcupines, and other things. My wife and I had done an unguided nature walk during our last trip to Costa Rica several months earlier and saw almost nothing. That experience taught us the importance of having an experienced, expert guide on nature walks. William found animals that we would have never seen on our own. He just knew where to look and then had the necessary equipment to see them. This excursion was one of our most memorable activities that we experienced during our almost 2 weeks in Costa Rica - largely because of William’s expertise.

Roy was a fantastic and...
Roy was a fantastic and super knowledgable guide and our driver Javier was great at spotting the sloths and birds! We were super lucky to see two and three toed sloths and some amazing birds including toucans! Roy was happy to answer all my questions and was keen to make sure we were seeing the animals in an ethical way in their natural habitat. Highly recommend!

The guide makes the difference
It was beyond my expectations. We were able to see a Quetzal thanks to our guide’s experience and knowledge. Eleir (i hope I spell his name correctly ) was very eager to help. He, as a local dweller of the environment, is both a guide and a expert who loves his job. I am glad we had this tour with him. We really enjoyed this two and half hour in the forest. I loved the pace of the tour. Everything was all right. Many Thanks

Best tour ever!
This was our favorite tour of our entire trip! Our guide, Luis, was incredibly knowledgeable and offered us so much information. He got to know us and how we like to interact with nature so he could go at a pace he knew we would appreciate. We went through the forest slowly, which allowed us to see an incredible amount of wildlife. Luis spotted so much wildlife we absolutely would not have seen without his trained eye. It was a beautiful experience and we are so grateful for Luis and for everything the forest showed us that day. We will remember that tour and that day forever! Gracias Luis!

Awesome guided...
Awesome guided experience. Our guide was very knowledgable and knew spots where we could see the wildlife. He had a high definition spotting scope and a tripod, which helped us take a closer look at the wildlife and also helped take pictures and videos from the spotting scopes.
We spotted insects, lizards, snakes, bats, capuchin monkeys, birds, crabs and a toucan. Sometimes wild life can be unpredictable so unfortunately we couldn't see any frogs, sloths, parrots or the Squirrel Monkeys.
We visited the park in July and thankfully it was not raining.
The tour ends at the beach and the guide showed us parts of the beach which are less crowded and also helped take pictures.
Overall it was a nice experience.

A great way to experience some of the La Fortuna “must sees.”
A long day but totally worth it. Our guide for the day was Albert. He was great, and explained everything in English and Spanish as we went along. It was a very rainy day and the volume of the waterfall was too intense for swimming, but the hike down (and back up) was beautiful. We opted to hang out in the café to dry off a bit because it was pouring rain, before we continued on to the Arenal volcano hike. Even in the rain, it’s worth doing the hike to the base of the volcano, but I imagine it’s spectacular if you are lucky enough to do it on a clear day. Albert provided facts on the volcano and was constantly on the lookout for wildlife that he pointed out as we trekked. For us though, the highlight of the day was the Mistico hanging bridges. Besides the spectacular scenery and the bridges themselves, there was plenty of wildlife to see including howler monkeys, white-faced monkeys, and even an eyelash viper. Beautiful place, and very easy to hike on the paved trails. We decided to skip the final stop at the hot springs because we had a day pass to one of the hot springs resorts the next day, and instead, had them drop us off at our hotel - Lost Iguana - which was very close to the Mistico Hanging Bridges. They were very flexible and agreeable about doing. Overall, a great day, and we slept like babies.

Amazing!!
This was an amazing tour! They walk the property & mark the areas they find sloths so you are guaranteed to see a sloth. We were fortunate enough to see one moving & a momma/baby that hadn’t been marked. Our tour guide also used his telescope to capture videos/pics of the sloths, lizards, frogs, birds all the things that we came across, so that was great. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, took the time to answer questions. Our group was very small. This was honestly the best tour that we took. Would 100% recommend.

Beach Day at Tortuga Island
Fun day with excellent service and great food.
We boarded CostaCat promptly at 715 and we're immediately served fresh fruit, carrot muffins, & coffee. The ride over to tortuga island was lovely and we saw a couple of sea turtles and a few dolphins. (The ride made at least 1 passenger ill, so be prepared.)
The staff had chairs & umbrellas arranged for each group (ie. 4 chairs specifically for our family of 3), ready for arrival. We were immediately served drinks and invited to enjoy the beach & ocean. There are scheduled activities: snorkeling at 9:30, lunch at 11:15, banana boat ride &/or short hike to a pretty viewpoint after lunch.
Lunch was excellent and seemed unlimited. Throughout the day the staff are constantly circulating to check on guests, collect used cups, offer assistance, bring the drinks of your choice.
For snorkeling, people are provided with a life vest, goggle/mask, & snorkel, then we board small boats to go to a platform near some rocky islands. As soon as you jump in, you see an assortment of fish and have 20-30 minutes to snorkel around the rocky area. Staff are watching carefully and work to keep everyone a safe distance from the rocks and from the path of any other boats. I really enjoyed this part of the day and saw a nice variety of fish & urchins.
The water is turquoise, the beach is light sand mixed with rocks and coral fragments and the waves a fun to play in.
The "hike" was very short to a lovely viewpoint. It was too hot in the afternoon to want to go on the full loop. We saw javelina, a deer, iguanas, and crabs on the island as well as a sea turtle from the overlook.
The day was very enjoyable and my teen daughter says it was her favorite day of our vacation.

Gentle and photo worthy trip
Great way to start off a trip to Costa Rica. The descent and climb seems easier than reported. For anyone in average health and ability to walk the path is very doable. If you would like to take is some wildlife and photos, enjoy their gift shop and food, and some of the other exhibits, plan for a few more hours.

Great Tour! Definitely Recommend!
This was an awesome tour. I've been to a couple different other tours in La Fortuna over the years and this was my favorite. The staff is exceptional from start to finish. Augustin was an amazing tour guide, very knowledgeable and funny! Will definitely be booking here again when I am back in La Fortuna!

Amazing!
We bought tickets for 4 hours of boating, drinks and snorkeling..this experience went above and beyond our expectations! The open bar made most amazing drinks and quick! With one bartender I wasn't sure but wow! The food- incredible. The snorking was awesome. We went to a clean crystal clear beach where we seen sooo many manterays. Something stung my arm and when I returned to the boat one of the staff got me something on a paper towel that made the marks on my arm disappear. The staff was awesome and even took us to the spots and pointed out all the wildlife - dolphins , sea turtles and more. They were friendly and informative! Can't rave more about this trip! Me and my 3 friends went on many different catermarans(mind my spelling) and we all agreed this one was by far the best! Thank you so much !

ATV/Zip experience
The atv portion was great. I think I was fortunate in only having 4 people in the group. I saw a group of over 10 and it looked like a miserable conga line. The halfway point being a waterfall was a nice surprise.
The zip lining experience was also amazing. Even with it being my first time, the safety instructors gave me the confidence as if it was my hundredth time. 10/10 bonus points for it being a rainstorm prior to speed the wires up!
