What are people saying about Berlin

Informative, compassionate tour
Our tour guide was excellent. He did a great job of explaining what was happening in the country that led to the Nazi party and mentality, and also centering the tour on the perspective of those imprisoned at the camp. It was a deeply moving, emotional tour but absolutely worth it. He was also extremely accommodating of an older person in our group who was struggling with the heat, and we were very grateful for that. 10/10 would absolutely recommend.

Excellent tour guide and experience with Sarah.
We had the most incredible guide for this tour. Sarah was so kind and spent the ride out and back talking to our family about all things Germany as well as any questions we had about the camp. She is so knowledgable. She was very sweet to our teen daughter and talked to her about what she knew about the concentration camps and college opportunites in Germany. She shared some great food recommendations as well.
The actual tour was done so well. We were not sure what the tour would be like because it is a sad and difficult historical topic and memorial. Sarah was amazing. She would explain things in an easy and informative way, then let us look at things and be there for questions. She made sure we had a bit of time to talk and process along the way. Our family learned so much and continued talking about the fantastic Sarah throughout our travels through Europe. Thanks you so much. We will never forget this visit.

Hannah an Excellent Guide
Hannah our guide was amazing. Her knowledge encyclopedic but her manner was warm and engaging. I felt like I’d completed a course that not only taught me a lot but made me think. The tour is also extremely entertaining and showed us hidden gems we’d never have discovered on our own!

Walking Tour of Berlin Highlights
A lot of walking, if you have trouble walking, this tour may not be for you. But, we do not have trouble with walking, so the tour was good. Our tour guide, Cullen, was excellent!!! He was full of information, and was patient with all of our questions. We saw many of the famous Berlin sights, check point Charlie, was my favorite. This was a fun and informative tour

Highly recommended tour!
Comprehensive tour in an easy not rushed way, eye opening and at times breathtaking. Highly recommend! Glen, our tour guide, helped us to bring dots together with his lively stories and factual information. Glen was a very caring person and accommodated our individual needs.

Great Tour of Berlin
Our guide in Berlin, Scott, was fabulous. He was very knowledgeable without being too academic. He was genuinely interested in his subject but he was equally as interested in the people in his tour group. He took the time to get to know people to ensure they got as much as they wanted from the experience. Our only problem was the check in process. We arrived very early to the meeting point, checked out. Names off with a female staffer and was told our bus was late. When it arrived we got on. Apparently we had not been marked off. However I do appreciate the effort Viator did make to contact us. The problem was we did not have wifi so we did not get any of the messages till later. We did have a great day and loved the sights we saw in Berlin. I had no concerns about not being returned to our cruise ship on time. I would highly recommend this tour.

Absolutely brilliant...
Absolutely brilliant tour. The itinerary is so well planned that the four hours fly by without ever feeling rushed. Our tour guide Yasmin is outstanding — funny, engaging, and perfectly timed in her delivery. Her explanations hit exactly the right depth: enough detail to feel enriched without ever becoming overwhelming. The coverage is impressively broad for a half‑day excursion. I’d definitely recommend this tour to anyone looking for a smart, well‑paced, and genuinely enjoyable experience.

Berlin walking tour
Great tour!! So much to see and our guide did a wonderful job sharing so many historical stories and personal asides about what we were seeing.
He also recommended and joined us for a delicious lunch where we had Doner Kebab. We really enjoyed both the food and the restaurant.
Highly recommend

Great experience- Excellent tour
This is was an excellent tour. The guide Raffaello was outstanding. He really personalised the tour and has a passion for Berlin and its history. It is well worth undertaking a tour of this nature and if possible asking for Raf. We did this as a team corporate event but this would suite any age or any group. Thanks Raf you were a champ.

Evening dining cruise.
Got a taxi from hotel to boat mooring as wasn’t sure of location. A bit dark getting from the road onto the boat. Needed to use torches on phone. We were a party of 6. Welcomed on board. Service was good. Food and drinks included were all OK. Hard to hear some of the recorded commentary due to conversations on other tables. Never the less a pleasant evening and pleased we booked the trip.

A Haunting, Essential Experience – More Than a Tour, a Lesson in Humanity
Visiting Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp was one of the most powerful and sobering experiences of my life. This is not a typical tourist attraction—it is a place of remembrance, reflection, and education. Our guide was outstanding: deeply knowledgeable, respectful, and able to connect history with the broader lessons that remain urgent today.
The camp’s design itself tells the story: the triangular layout, Tower A as the only entrance, and Station Z as the “exit” where industrialized killing took place. Standing by the roll call square at dawn, hearing how thousands were forced to line up in the cold, was chilling. The details were harrowing but important—prisoners living packed 700 to a barrack built for 150, the absurd forced labor meant to break spirits, and the systematic dehumanization where a person’s worth was reduced to their ability to work.
The guide wove in survivors’ testimonies that made the history painfully real. One prisoner described feeling like “an insect trapped in a jar.” Another spoke of how survival required both hope and community, because “you cannot survive a camp alone.”
What made this tour exceptional was how it placed Sachsenhausen in the wider context: Nazi propaganda, international failures like the Évian Conference, and even the postwar use of the camp by the Soviets. The guide did not shy away from modern parallels, noting how extremist ideologies still persist and why memorialization matters.
Practical advice: wear comfortable shoes, bring water, and prepare emotionally. This is a large site with limited amenities. The visitor center has an excellent museum and audio guides if you prefer to go at your own pace.
This is not an easy visit, but it is absolutely essential. Sachsenhausen teaches not only about the past but about our responsibility today—to recognize hatred, resist indifference, and preserve the voices of those who endured.

A great way to see Berlin...
A great way to see Berlin in a day with a very knowledgeable tour guide, much better than walking all day. Our tour guide was Yael, a 34 year old woman from Israel who had immigrated to Germany a bit over 3 years ago. She was charismatic and passionate with a wealth of knowledge to impart on us. Apparently in addition to being a tour guide she worked the improv clubs as a standup comic and of course supported herself as a waitress. I would highly recommend the tour, especially if you are lucky enough to have Yael as your guide
