Well organized! 3 hour ride to the port. Very hilly, winding roads which I was okay. However, several cars had to pull o er and people were vomiting on the side of the road. The girl sitting next to me was throwing up in a bag the whole time which was definitely hard for her lol for me too… Back to the more fun part! I lived the boat rides to all 4 islands. The Guna people driving the boats and on the Islands were so nice! The Beaches were gorgeous, the water warm and crystal clear. I could see the beautiful colors of the fish swimming around me. Incredible experience and would do again! Highly recommend this trip!

Great Experience but Tour details were disappointing.

Courtney_A, Apr 2026
I’ve been on quite a few of these viator tours. However, I was bit disappointed in some of the details. Two things in particular. First, they advertise English or Spanish guide. And though I selected English…not a sole person spoke English from the transportation (which takes about 3 hours to get there) to the tour itself. So I was expecting to learn things on the ride there. Instead I feel like I just paid for a taxi. The second thing is food selection. I indicated one person in my party needed gluten free. However there was no such choice. And there was one island where the food was served. I noticed quite a bit of better choices from other tours. So it seemed this tour operator picked the cheapest meal options for us. This was particularly disappointing because we made a stop at a gas station that sold hot food. If we had known they wouldn’t honor gluten free request we could have purchased items from there. Another point to make, getting in and out of the boat was challenging at times. The different stops had different types of docks. So some you just climbed over the side of boat but others had concrete platforms that were so tall that you literally had to slide on your back almost between the boat canopy and the concrete dock platform to get on and off. So if you had any mobility issues it was a wrap. The tour itself was great otherwise. The islands and beaches were wonderful. It is a long ride. I saw some reviews mention it was bumpy. That must be old because the roads were pretty much paved all the way there. Make sure to read the fine print. Bring cash, not all places take cards. And you do need $22 in cash. $20 per person to enter the native land about 1/2 way up the mountain. And then $2 per person once you reach the lot where you’ll take the boat. They do require your original passport.

Hi Courtney, We’re glad you still enjoyed the islands and beaches, as that’s really the heart of the experience. Just to clarify, the tour itself begins at the port in San Blas with the boat portion. The transportation from Panama City is simply that, transportation, not a guided tour, and this is outlined in the description. Regarding food, meals on the islands are prepared by the local Guna communities and are quite standard across all islands. It’s not about choosing cheaper options, but rather working with what’s available in a very remote area. Special dietary requests like gluten free can be difficult to accommodate in this setting, so it’s always best to come prepared if you have specific needs. San Blas is a unique destination, and part of the experience is embracing its simplicity and natural conditions and arriving without high expectations.

The tour guide is very friendly and very organized. The highlight is that I saw 2 different kinds of fishes in 2 islands 🐠.

Glad you enjoyed the day and that everything felt well organized. Nice to hear you spotted different fish along the way, those little moments in the water always make it more memorable

Disorganized Experience Despite Beautiful Beaches

JadaMarie_T, Jan 2026
The initial communication via WhatsApp was excellent. We were instructed to be ready for pickup between 5:00–5:15 a.m.; however, we were not picked up until close to 6:00 a.m. Upon arrival, there was not enough space in the vehicle for all three of us. We were then told that the issue was because our tickets were purchased individually rather than together, which was confusing since all three tickets were purchased for pickup from the same hotel. A second vehicle eventually arrived, but it first detoured to pick up two additional passengers unrelated to our group before we were finally on our way. The drive to the boat itself consisted of nearly two hours of continuous winding roads. Even for those without motion-sickness sensitivity, you’ll want to take caution. Especially if sitting in the very back of the 4x4 vehicle. Despite the tour description stating there would be a stop at a store, no stop was made, leaving us without access to food or drinks. When we arrived at the boat docking area, we were dropped off without clear instructions. We had to send a WhatsApp massage to ask for guidance, we were simply told to wait. Restroom access required a 25 cent fee, which was not communicated in advance. We were left unsure of what was happening and waited approximately 20 minutes before someone approached us and escorted to another waiting area before we boarded the boat. Once on the boat, it stalled in the middle of the ocean and required several attempts before the captain gave up and only used 1 engine. At this point, it was already around 10:50 a.m., and no activities had begun. We made a few stops to drop off passengers staying on other islands. The boat ride to the first stop took over an hour. We arrived around 11:15 a.m. and departed at approximately 12:40 p.m. for the next location. Lunch was included, and we paid extra to upgrade our meal to the lobster lunch for $25; however, it was served cold. Please note, the original included meal is not accounted for as part of the lobster upgrade. If you would like the original meal, as well, you have to ask. I recommend the fried fish and fries , as the shrimp were overcooked. Overall, the experience consisted of roughly 10 hours of travel and only about 4 hours on the water. We left the beach at 4:50 p.m. and did not return to our hotel until 7:40 p.m. While the beaches themselves were absolutely beautiful, the overall experience was disorganized, lacked communication, and fell short of expectations based on the tour description.

Response from Host, Jan 2026

Thank you, Jada, for taking the time to share such a thorough review. We truly appreciate your feedback and the opportunity to clarify a few important points for future travelers. We’d like to note that key details of this tour are clearly outlined in our tour description and disclaimer, including the approximate 2.5-hour drive on winding roads, the possibility that the port area may feel busy or disorganized, and the length of the boat ride. San Blas is located within the Guna Yala region, a remote and protected indigenous territory where infrastructure and facilities are intentionally more basic, and logistics can differ from more developed destinations. Regarding transportation, we often have multiple groups being picked up from the same hotel and assigned to different vehicles. If guests wish to ensure they are all in the same car, this does need to be communicated to us in advance so we can arrange it accordingly. We understand the concern about the boat engine taking a few moments to restart. While safety is always our top priority, moments like these do sometimes occur in marine environments. That said, guests are surrounded by the open sea, fresh ocean breeze, and the island atmosphere that makes San Blas such a unique and beautiful destination. We’re glad you enjoyed the stunning beaches and appreciate your comments about the crew and the natural beauty of the islands. While we’re sorry the overall experience did not fully meet your expectations, your feedback has been shared with our team and partners to help improve clarity and coordination moving forward. Thank you again for choosing Tao Travel 365. We hope you’ll consider giving us another opportunity to host you in Panama under different circumstances in the future.

Great beaches but disappointing trip

Ronenia_J, Jan 2026
Every experience is different so from my experience this was a disappointment. The original communication from WhatsApp was amazing. We were told to be ready at 5-5:15 am. We didn’t get picked up until close to 6 am. They did not have space in the vehicle for 3 of us. We were told that we should have purchased all 3 tickets together and not individually; however, that doesn’t make sense as 3 tickets were still purchased with pick up from the same hotel. Another vehicle came and after stopping to pickup 2 of his friends we finally was on our way. The road is like an “s” for at least 2 hours of winding. We never stopped at the store as the description says so we didn’t have any food or drinks. They dropped us off at the boat docking area and that someone would come and get us. We had no clue what was going on. Eventually someone got us and after waiting for close to 20 minutes we were put on a boat. If you need to use the bathroom from the boat docking, it’s .$25 to use the restroom so make sure you bring some cash. The boat eventually stopped in the middle of the ocean. After a series of attempts they were able to crank up the engine and we were on our merry way. At this point, it was 10:50 am and we haven’t done anything. I actually wrote my review in the middle of the ocean. The boat ride to the first stop took over an hour. We arrived around 11:15 am then left at 12:40 pm for our next stop. Your lunch is free; however, we paid to add lobster to our meal. Our original meal which is included in your ticket should have been added to our upgrade. The trip time is really 10 hours of traveling and 4 hours of the ocean. We left the beach at 4:50 pm and arrived at the hotel at 7:40 pm. The beaches were gorgeous but that’s it. I just don’t think it’s worth 10 hours of traveling.

It’s completely understandable to have questions about logistics beforehand, and we’re glad you decided to go for it and that it turned out to be such a rewarding experience. Shannon_A, Jan 2026
Definitely an adventurous day. The islands are beautiful to see and the water is amazing. However...The journey to get to the islands is not easy. Early morning wake up, long rough ride to get there in a crammed 4x4 with no suspension, long bumpy boat ride on an oversized dingy boat, nothing on the first 2 islands, last islands were identical. Not much to do once you get to the islands, no chairs to sit on, no towels, nothing except a bar serving warm drinks.

Response from Host, Jan 2026

Hi Shannon. Thank you for sharing your feedback! 😊 We’re glad you enjoyed the beauty of the islands and the amazing water. Regarding the journey, we do mention in our itinerary that getting to the islands is an adventurous ride and that the early start, 4x4 road, and boat ride are all part of the experience. We also clearly highlight what to expect on the islands themselves—including limited amenities—so guests can prepare accordingly. We understand this tour isn’t for everyone, but it’s designed for those looking for a true adventure rather than a luxury resort experience. We hope future guests take the description to heart and enjoy the trip as much as those who love the thrill and scenery!

Roy_K, Sept 2025
We were picked up from our Airbnb around 5am. You have to choose a hotel and then when they message you, tell them you are at an Airbnb. We were prepared to Uber to a close by hotel from the list if needed but they picked us up from our Airbnb which saved us a lot of time. It was exactly as they described, we got on our long 3 hour drive which is mostly roads but they are winding roads, like really winding and constant up and down hills, again, all on paved roads. When you get close it is a gravel road. We got to the coast and got on the boats that carry about 10‐12 people and visited the islands. We visited an island and got 2 hours there then a sand bar where there were a few starfish. Then we got lunch at the 3rd island. We visited one more island for an hour and headed back to the transport spot and took another 3 hour drive e back the same way we came.

Response from Host, Sept 2025

Thank you for your detailed review! We’re glad the Airbnb pickup saved you time and that the tour matched the description. It’s great to hear you enjoyed visiting the islands, sandbar, and lunch stop. We appreciate your feedback and hope to welcome you on another adventure soon!

Hidden adventure

FriedPlantains84, Feb 2025
Johnny our tour guide was awesome. Picked us up at 4am and took us to the port to catch the boat to the island. In the island our tour guide was great as well as he ensure that we were fed and ready to go to visit other islands. The day ended at 8pm when we got back to the city. San Blas is truly a magical place and it's people the Guns are very welcoming.

Response from Host, Feb 2025

10/10 so much fun

Sarah_b, Dec 2024
We had the best time on this tour! Our driver Johnny was punctual, communicative, and knowledgeable, and the tour guide for the island hopping part of the trip was so cool, he was part of the indigenous Guna tribe and spoke fluent English and Spanish. The road was totally paved, but if you're not used to curvy mountain roads the last hour or so of the drive from panama to the dock may be a good time to take some dramamine. The boat ride was initially pretty bumpy and we did get soaked haha, but overall it was an incredible experience and the islands themselves are absolute paradise.

Response from Host, Dec 2024

Thank you for your wonderful review! We're delighted to hear you had such a memorable experience and that both Johnny and your Guna tour guide contributed to making the trip special. It's great to know you appreciated the cultural insights and their expertise. We agree the curvy mountain roads and bumpy boat ride can be part of the adventure, and your tip about Dramamine will definitely help future travelers. We're so glad you enjoyed the breathtaking beauty of the islands—they truly are a slice of paradise. We hope to welcome you back for another unforgettable journey! 🌴✨

My daughter and I had a great time. We did research before coming on this trip so that we'd know what to expect. Please make sure you are fit enough to climb in and out of boats and can stand long car rides. The islands, the food and people were absolutely amazing. Would highly recommend

Response from Host, Mar 2024

We are happy to hear that you enjoyed our tour and staff! Apologies for the food not meeting your expectations. We aim to provide the best experiences and will use all feedback to keep improving our tour.

Ok trip

JOCELYNE_B, Feb 2024
A part of the road could make you car sick. All the islands are the same but is nice. The driver didn’t tell us nothing about the trip.

Response from Host, Feb 2024

Dear Jocely, the drive to San Blas has many curves. We mention this fact in our listing and in the disclaimer several times. We recommend that those who tend to get motion sick to prepare accordingly before the tour. We are glad you enjoyed your overall San Blas tour and hope to see you again soon :)

Great day trip if that's all you can do

Stephanie_s, Nov 2023
The trip was not as bad as it was described - they're paving the road so it appears to be much better than before. Not so much a guided tour but transportation for you to enjoy on your own. Food was fine for lunch. But I would definitely bring some snacks and drinks. The stop at the grocery store was a gas station - so no fresh fruit or big variety, but in addition to all the snack foods, they have some local prepared foods. We had a beautiful day and got there and back in one piece. Remember to bring cash and your passports. Snorkel gear too if you have it. Was happy to have the experience and see the other side of Panama.

Response from Host, Nov 2023

Thank you for your feedback! We're glad to hear that you enjoyed your day with us and appreciate your helpful advice to future travelers. We constantly look to improve, so your feedback is very beneficial. Safe travels!

Worth it, even in the rain.

Mindy_H, Nov 2023
Great trip for adventurous people! The weather was iffy and then turned bad. Sunny weather might have made it feel like a 5-star trip, but that isn’t controllable by any tour. Climbing in and out of the boats required some balance and physicality, so I wouldn’t recommend this for everyone. But if you read their description and understand what you’re signing up for, then do it! Even in the cloudy/rainy weather the islands are beautiful. I met lots of other travelers and it was a laid-back kind of day. Not super-organized, but it worked! We enjoyed the flexibility. Hospitality was great!

Response from Host, Nov 2023

Hi Mindy, thank you for appreciating our tour! We're thrilled you found our tour enjoyable, despite the rainy weather. Hope to have you onboard again next time! Safe travels.

the worst tour ever!!!!!!

Anonymous, Jun 2023
On the day of the trip it was set to rain and when we got to the port of where we was leaving it starting pouring and thundering and the boat still went out. the boat is really little the wind was making the tides high and there was no safely precaution taken. I requested to do it for another day the man told me no and that i could sit in the rain until 4pm until the next shuttle. There were numerous cabs available and not one person wanted to take me home. They all told me it wasn't any money and just taking me home by myself.. I will never used this company ever again nor do I recommend it to anyone as the money is first then its about the tourist.

We are sorry to you had a bad experience on your tour. Since Panama is located in a very unpredictable weather zone, it is impossible for anyone to forecast the conditions. Panama is located in the tropical latitudes, which includes occasional rain. Often it starts raining for 30 minutes followed by sunshine again, as was the case on your tour. All the logistics have been organized for you and we do not provide refunds for weather related reasons. The cancelation policy is very clear on our listing and we assume you were aware of them. No company in Panama will issue refunds for that matter. We pride ourself in our excellent customer service and our great tours. On your tour we had several other guests who thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Even if it rains in San Blas, the ocean water is still warm, the fish still swim and the islands are still magical. It all depends on the attitude!

San Blas lovely Trip

Food was great. The guides were very friendly. We had lots of time to enjoy each island. We were given a history lesson before we embarked on the island. I recommend Yardiel Tours.

Thank you for your kind words! We are so glad you enjoyed your tour with us and that our guides were able to provide you with an enjoyable and educational experience.

Brilliant, and vegan friendly.

San Blas is a must-do in Panama. Everything from the insightfulness and professionalism of Adrian our driver right through to the boat & island crews made this s7ch a great experience for us. The provision of wholesome and tasty vegan food was very much appreciated too, we didn't touch our packed lunch! Didn't need to. The islands themselves are best described as an unspoilt paradise which in this day & age is something. Yeah, that pot-holed road wasn't fun, but noone can be blamed for that. Adrian tried his utmost to make it as less bumpy as possible. It's worth it though, 100%.

Great experience!

Hi Charlotte, thank you for your kind feedback. We are glad you enjoyed your San Blas day with us. We hope you will visit again soon :)

Nope nope nope! Do not take this tour!

Horrible horrible tour. The driver didn’t wear his mask properly and drove like a maniac. He was also texting and talking on his phone will driving. The guides don’t speak English as advertised. No explanation for what we were doing. The islands are covered in garbage. Food was terrible and the rushed us out of there. Not worth the money at all! Life jackets weren’t available the whole time. San blas is not worth it. I saw the shacks where people stayed over if they did the over night tour and they were awful. Bathrooms disgusting. Really just garbage everywhere. Pretty sad I am sure those islands were beautiful at some point but it is really just a tourist trap now.

Dear Angel, we are very sorry to hear your comments. Especially as we are used to receiving great feedback from our guests about our tour. San Blas is a paradise and like any place it has its drawback and limitation. Those who travel without expectations and with an open heart and mind will surely be rewarded with beautiful memories and experiences. We provide life jackets to every guests while onboard the boat as it is the law. Life jackets are returned to the boat when arriving at the island and do not serve as snorkel jackets. The tour listing clearly states all details as well as an explicit San Blas disclaimer that mentions the occasional plastic trash found in the ocean that unfortunately arrives from other countries. Before booking our tour, we suggest everyone read through the details in order to prepare their expectations and thus experience a beautiful day with us. We hope you were able to enjoy the rest of your Panama visit.

Great

The whole over all experience was excellent, Food, Drinks & just the hospitality, was incredible! So glad I took the trip there! EXPECT for the hour an 15 min drive into the mountains! If you don’t have a SUV, you will never make through the pot hole…
